1:10 Southwell - Aguerooo. 1pt Win Bet @ 11/8 BetVic & Corals.

Modest will get closer but just isn't good enough, all Hollie need do is keep calm and hold on, the selection still hasn't been tested and has been the gift that just keeps giving, Sole runner for Mr Hannon.

Danger Will come from the MJ Runner but i doubt he's good enough.

S3.40 Red Flute 33/1 Paddy Power

I'm a big fan of the jockey in this apprentice hands and heels race and he's still able to claim 3lb. The horse clearly has the ability to win this judged on its win at Lingfield in a similar race last year off a mark of 53. In truth the horse hasn't shown much since but as a result gets in here off a mark of 46 and might just surprise at a big price.

Sou 2.40 - Captain Lars - win at 6/1 bog PP

Class 3 mile handicap

My selection has won a seller and a claimer on his last 2 outings, including over CD

On his return to handicaps he's been put up 7lbs for those two wins but is still reasonably handicapped on some of his previous handicap form (was a multiple winner in South Africa)

He fair ran some similarly rated horses silly over CD last time out though he was getting weight from him and should have won.........the style of his victory by 7L indicated he was on his way back after some disappointing efforts when arriving in the UK a few months ago.

That win was in a Claimer and 26 claims were entered for him so the training fraternity clearly thought he was worth having !

2.50 Fairyhouse - Alisier D'Irlande @ 3/1 Bet365

McKinley is well worth taking on here at the top of the market as his hurdles form is bang average except for a shock Grade 1 win which he has never backed up. Alisier D'Irlande won a maiden hurdle as easy as you like on his first start for the yard which is probably not far off McKinley's usual form and is completely unexposed unlike the favourite. As a Brookhouse owned pointer trained by Henry De Bromhead you would expect him to be much better over fences and given he cost 300,000 he could be anything in this sphere.

220 Fairyhouse: Clarcam EW 10/1 bet365

Top class horse here going back into handicaps for the first time since running in the Fred Winter Juvenile hurdle at the Festival a couple of years ago and has never been in a handicap over fences. Rated 153 which is 6lbs lower than when he started the season and this has given him a squeak. He hasn't done too much wrong this term, he was 5th behind Djakadam in the John Durkan and 4th last time at Leopardstown in another Grade 1 chase. Big price for a consistent sort who must reach the frame at least in this company?

2.15 Greyville: Mr 86 Handicap, 1.200m

With the scratching of Highway Explorer and Piano Man this Handicap is decimated by two of the more likelier sorts where now only three horses can be realistically have a chance to win, as long as they run to their true form.

The three year old Cutting Edge has an edge in the weights and should strip fitter today after a fine comeback run in December. He's the highest rated individual in this race and with Delpech on board will be a major player.

That says I'm keen on De Kock's Jayyed today. He's coming off a half year long break, however seems best as a fresh horse and won a maiden plate last year after a similar lay-off over this 1.200m trip. The switch to polytrack should suit perfectly on pedigree, and after having to face top class opposition in graded company in all his last starts, this represents a much easier task.

There is the chance the run is only to sharpen him up and bigger targets may be ahead, over further distances as well. But with a talented apprentice on board who takes off valuable 2.5kg I feel Jayyed must have a serious say in the closing stages, as long as he doesn't miss the break, something he did a couple of times last year.

Jayyed @ 11/2 VC
