Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July 1.44 for Metalurg to win at UE Santa Coloma looks a great price. On the one hand, Metalurg have yet to win a game in European competition with this being their fifth consecutive year in the tournament, but they haven't faced opponents of the calibre of UE Santa Coloma, another side making their fifth consecutive appearance in the competition having lost all eight of their games so far. Their near namesakes' victory against Banants last night may understandably make people wary, but Macedonian sides generally haven't had the trouble encountered by Armenian teams in facing the real minnows (Andorran and Sammarinese teams) as these results suggest: 2010-11 Europa League: Rabotnicki 5-0 Lusitanos, Lusitanos 0-6 Rabotnicki 2011-12 Europa League: Juvenes/Dogana 0-1 Rabotnicki, Rabotnicki 3-0 Juvenes/Dogana 2012-13 Europa League: Renova 4-0 Libertas, Libertas 0-4 Renova It's also worth noting that Renova qualified for the 2012-13 tournament by winning the national cup; in the league they finished 24 points behind the leaders and were considered by all accounts a distinctly average Macedonian side and they coasted through the tie. This year, Metalurg have qualified by finishing third in the league, just three points behind champions Rabotnicki. They should have too much for their Andorran opponents, and surely lightning can't strike twice?! Elsewhere, the most eye-catching odds for the opposite reason are 1.13 for Vaduz to beat College Europa. Gibraltian sides are unproven in European competition, but is their perceived standard really so low that a side from Liechtenstein are expected to sail past them? These odds would be more realistic if Vaduz were playing a team from Andorra or San Marino, but if the national teams are any indication Gibraltar's results suggest they have more to them having managed a victory against Malta and draws with Slovakia and Estonia in their five friendly matches since UEFA acceptance. Lincoln Red Imps play Havnar in the Champions League qualifiers tonight, and that will be the first indication of how the club sides perform at this level; in any case, at that price I would suggest going against Vaduz.

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July Botev - Libertas Both teams to score: NO is currently 1.70@ Ladbrokes and 1.73@ Betfred. This is massive price. Most of you know that Libertas is an amateur team and some of the players that will play tomorrow are over the age of 30 (I think the oldest is 42 or 44). Botev is a good team for the Bulgarian standards. They do have some off-the-pitch problems right now, but I wouldn't go into much details about them in this round. Might oppose them in the later stages, but tomorrow they should win this even if they had to play with the kids. I just can't see Libertas scoring and this price won't stay much longer. Good luck!

Is 1.8 in many other places. Looks a good bet I just dont know about trusting bulgarians in these kind of games

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July The problem with Botev right now is that their owner is in deep sh*t after his bank was taken from him (whether it was really his is a different question) and he lost the backing of some very powerful people in Bulgaria. He started an ambitious project in Plovdiv, they even began building a new stadium and all. The conditions were great, some quality players were bought last season, all in all the foundations for a solid team were built. The preparation for this season also started brightly with the appointment of Lyuboslav Penev as manager (he also manages the Bulgarian national team). I rate him highly and he is definitely better than their previous manager Stoilov. However, just a couple of weeks ago the problems off the pitch started. Right now the building of the new stadium is stopped. The player's salaries are frozen because they have accounts in the bank that is under threat of bankruptcy (actually, I am not too sure what's happening exactly, all I know is that many people withdrew their money and closed their accounts, so the Bulgarian National Bank had to take this one under control). The club admitted that there are some money left for now, but they are not sure how long they can handle this situation. Some of the key players like striker Hamza and attacking midfielder Dore are in the transfer-list as are few more. So definitely the future might not be very bright for Botev, HOWEVER, I just can't see them doing something foolish tomorrow. I doubt they would fix (if that's what you are talking about) a game against a Sammarinese bartenders and teachers, especially since they will have the support of their fans tomorrow and Botev fans are not really the type of fans that will accept suspicious behaviour. Sure, if it was some of the doggy Bulgarian teams you would be right to be cautious, but Botev is a different matter...or at least they should be. Don't get me wrong, personally for me this is a full stake bet, but I would never suggest you or anyone else to follow it with max stakes. Just giving my point of view. Whether it will be a winning bet we will know tomorrow :)

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July Botev will keep clean sheet with 99% certainty. Yes, they are missing some important players, but they are attackers, while their defense and goal-keeper are all available. I doubt the San Marinese will even have a shot on target, because Botev has one of the best defense and goalkeeper in the country. The class gap is a huge one and I believe in an easy 5-6 to nil win of Botev.

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July As im from Northern Ireland i'll do my views on the Northern Irish teams. FH vs Glenavon - Home win. FH will be more match fit with with season on going. Glenavon have only played one friendly before this game after end of season. They won the Irish cup, but wasn't against any of the top 5 teams in the league. Flight to Iceland today and game tomorrow will also be tiring. FH also top of Iceland league. ( Im going for -1 FH on this ) Crusaders vs Ekranas - Not sure what to make of this tie.. Ekranas have season on going so fitter, but not doing great. Crusaders drew 3-3 with Airbus UK in friendly who i think aren't great. The pitch is an 4G plastic pitch which may suit Crusaders, but could be good for Ekranas if they are a passing team. ( I think i'll go for a 1-0 Ekranas ) B36 vs Linfield - This could be a fun tie.. Linfield have new manager and have got few decent players, few former Northern Ireland internationals. B36 top of the Faeroe league and will be a bit sharper. I think Linfield may sit back for a while and hold defence to go for the win in the return leg. ( I think either 0-0 or a 1-0 to Linfield ) ( Please note the return leg will not be played at Linfield's home ground due to re-development of stadium )

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July Mark Patton, James Singleton, William Murphy, Tiarnan Mulvenna and Andy Kilmartin will be missing from the Glenavon squad for tomorrows game - the flight has landed in Iceland now by the way. Patton, Murphy and Kilmartin are all key first team players. Personally I'm all over the Blotev Plovdiv clean sheet, it seemed too obvious to be true - but that was before I read about their internal problems on here! They have a decent recent pedigree in Europe - only going out to Stuttgart on away goals last season - and even if it does all fall apart due to financial problems that doesn't seem to have set in yet.

Internal problems are NO PROBLEM for this game. As I wrote, they have plenty of quality in the squad and on the bench (coached by national manager Lubo Penev) and should annihilate the San Marino team. One thing which is very important is that Botev are hungry for international football. Before the last summer, they hadn't played in Europe for like 15 years, and they followed the Rangers pathway three years ago, when they declared banruptcy and relegated to third tier of local football. Afterwards, Botev were taken by the most powerful banker and businessmen in the country at that time (not anymore though after recent events) and they started living in a dream. Last year's Europa League games were welcomed with unseen enthusiasm in the team and among fans - the first European experience in nearly two decades for this popular Bulgarian team. Now this enthusiasm will live on, despite the financial problems and I believe this will be for Botev much more than a boring game against amateurs. For these reasons, I am taking the handicaps here on Botev, which are very generous. Marathon offers -3.5 @ 2.35, which I wouldn't price higher than 1.60 in reality. Of course, Marathon are jokers and their limits are ridiculous, but I expect when serious bookies open, the price to be still very tasty.

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July Some useful info shared in here, I am looking forward to the matches I am interested in taking Tromso in some sort of bigger handicaps for their trip to Tartu where they gonna face the local team Santos. Santos Tartu is a club consisted of semi-pro and amateurs. All of the players are working some other jobs for a living as Santos is a team competing in the Estonian Esiliiga or third division. This is a debut for any lower league Estonian football team at European stage and Santos are here thanks to the lucky path which they had in last seasons domestic Cup where they overcome another amateurish team in the semis before losing 4-0 to Levadia in the final. Knowing the level of football which teams competing in Estonian Top league, but from the second part of the table are playing, Im wondering if we are to see some record goals in this match. As many would know Tromso played in the group stage of the Europa League last season, even though it wasn't a memorable effort. Tightened schedule may have even be the reason why they got relegated from the Norwegian Top league. They are now in the second league and hold the second place with half a season gone they are on a good way of coming where they probably belong. They managed to hold the last seasons best players and having seen them in a match few months ago I would imagine a battering for the Estonian amateurs. No certs in betting but I would have priced Tromso at 1,01 and see betfair have them at 1,18. PP had Tromso (-2) EH @ 2,2 but at 1,91 its still a great price. (-3) EH @ 3,10 is also something that should be tried. I might even have a smaller bet on over 6,5 goals and betvictor have the best odds @ 7,5 on that. Tromso looked really organised team especially at the back in a match that i've seen this year and don't expect them to concede here. May have a look on them to Win to Nil and to Win Both Halves. GL

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July Metalurg at 1,40 looks a nice bet too. Im from Macedonia and familiar with this club. They were at the very top for most of the season and unlucky not to become a champion it seemed. Current champions Rabotnicki had only 3 pt advantage at the end and also beat them in the Cup final in which Metalurg played with a man down for more then an hour in that game. They are a serious side and always get to Europe in recent years. Quality is surely on their side against the amateur club from Santa Coloma. Metalurg coach said they'll give their best to win in Andorra. Also said atmosphere in the camp is great and have full squad available to choose from. I believe they'll get the job done here and thats nice price on them.

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July Kalju @ 3,00 with bwin still looks value even thought there were better prices elsewhere earlier. Fram are Icelandic young and inexperienced side strugling in their championship and their is a tough season ahead in which they'll try not to get relegated. None of their current players ever played in Europe, having selled all of the foreigners last year. Kalju on the other hand is one of the best teams in Estonia and having experienced European football earier, most notably last season when they managed to shockingly knock out HJK Helsinki before losing to Plzen in the next stage of CL. They have faced Dnipro in the EL play-off match later and got eliminated. I give a slide edge to Icelanders when comparing the levels of Estonian and Icelandic football, but as the things stand atm I think Kalju should be favourites to win this match. GL

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July Would like to read some insight views on Bangor as I like to oppose them in their match against Stjarnan later today. If theres some Welshman on the board familiar with the football there and share it will be hugely appreciated.

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July I think Banga double chance is a good bet ,Sligo have just recently sacked their manager ,new manager only takes charge once and they have a couple of players missing ,squad is skinny ,recent Irish teams in Europe have lost to Lithuanian opponents for example Shamrock rovers loses to FK Ekranas away 3-0 and st patricks lose 3-1 at home to Zalgiris in last years europa qualifiers ,the quality in both leagues is of a similar standard I think Sligo will be happy with a draw result, 3/4 on away win is much too short

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July

Some useful info shared in here, I am looking forward to the matches I am interested in taking Tromso in some sort of bigger handicaps for their trip to Tartu where they gonna face the local team Santos. GL
Cheers for the info, but for the same reason you pointed out about last season, do they really want to go very far this season in EL etc? Or do they want to concentrate on getting back to the top flight in Norway? If that would be the case then maybe they will not push that hard today as well? Just my thoughts ... I have actually no idea what their plan is. I jus started to wonder about that..

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July ^^^ Couldn't know if they would like to go far in EL but it's not like if they pass this round and they are in group stages. Even if they put their second team in this game I would still expect to batter them. Santos are a third tier team or Esiliiga B. There was a team involved in yesterdays Cup match in Estonia, from the second tier or Esiliiga A and got 7 past them against team from the Top league. I think that class difference is huge here and expecting a ridiculous final result.

Hope this is of use to you Rock. _75971047_neville_powell.jpg 2 July 2014 Last updated at 16:52 EUROPA LEAGUE QUALIFYING FIRST ROUND, FIRST LEG: Stjarnan v Bangor City
  • Venue: Stjornuvollur, Gardabar
  • Date: Thursday, 3 July
  • Kick-off: 20:15 BST

Coverage: Updates on BBC Radio Wales Sport and report on the BBC Sport website Bangor City manager Neville Powell admits his side will be at a disadvantage when they face Stjarnan of Iceland in Europa League qualifying. Stjarnan are 10 games into their season, are second in the Icelandic league and have yet to lose. City's last competitive game was the 2-0 play-off win over Rhyl in May, which secured their place in Europe. "They've played 10 games and that is the big advantage they have," Powell said ahead of Thursday's first leg. "We're going to have our work cut out but we've got a plan in place to try and keep the tie open for the second leg. "We've got a lot of young legs in that team so hopefully they can work hard on the night and, with a bit of luck, we can get the result that we want." Debutants Stjarnan will face a Bangor team playing in Europe for the 15th season, though they were absent in 2013-14. "We had a few new youngsters in last season and it will be a great opportunity for them to show what they can do," Powell added. "I'm really looking forward to seeing how they adapt themselves in European football. "They've been so excited ever since we qualified and they'll get their chance on Thursday." The winners of the tie will face Scottish Premier League side Motherwell in the second qualifying round. Lineup, Bookings (0) & Substitutions (0)

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July VPS-Brommapojkarna will be played in Valkeakoski, not in VPS's home stadion in Vaasa. They travelled there yesterday and have had training sessions there. VPS has scored 4 goals in last 6, all of them in one game against MYPA. They signed english left back Jordaan Brown lately from Staines Town(?), he is ready to play today. VPS had pretty much injured players, but now they have Jarno Parikka and Lasse Linjala back and they will boost the squad up, but is it enough... About Brommapojkarna i don't know much. They played friendly game against Gefle IF saturday and lost 1-3. I expect this to be pretty tight and cautious game for VPS. They doesn't want to give an away goal for Brommapojkarna, and does not score often either. This could well be 0-0 game, or 1-0 either way in 2nd half. But I bet that VPS will be pretty cautious today, and just defend 1st half to see how the things go in Eurocup. I prefer Both teams to score? NO 1,97 or Half time X 2,08 @Unibet. Maybe there are better odds somewhere. Little info about MYPA-IF Fjuglafjordur: MYPA has two big injuries, Second best goalscorer Stefano Pinho and important midfielder Leandro Motta are out. Coach Antti Muurinen said: "I hope that we find the net. I hope the opponent doesn't score. One or two goals lead would be good result for second leg". I think, that they will play defensively most of the match, and Sihvola and Abdulahi will knick one or two goals for them, to accomplish their mission. Less risk bet would be under 3.5 goals 1,66 , maybe even under 2.5 - 2,75 odds @Unibet

Re: Europa League - 1st Qualifying Round - Thursday 4th July I've taken Botev and Cukaricki to win to nil in their games against Libertas (San Marino) and Sant Julia (Andorra), mix of singles and doubles. Probably put too much on to be honest, got a good early price then topped up. I remember Libertas from the Sarajevo disaster from last season, they were bloody terrible against what was a half decent side and should have lost by many more, I don't really trust these sort of sides to cover big handicaps against minnows so I've stuck for straight to win to nil and CS bets. Botev should win 2-0 or 3-0 imo. The game isn't being played at Botev's home ground and there will be a small crowd. Cukaricki are the most riskier bet imo, don't know much about them. They are seen as one of the more 'professional' clubs with wages paid on time (not usually the case in Serbia) and a decent hard working side. Might be a narrow victory 1-0 or 2-0. Botev Ploudiv CS - 1.8+1.67+1.55 - betint, betfred, tote - 15 Points Cukaricki CS & Win to Nil - 1.5+1.53 - bet365, betint - 15 Points Double - 2.18+2.25 - betint, bet365 - 10 Points

Hey Rocknrolla....lookin good on the Tromso call. 0-3 to Tromso already:ok
