Re: Wsop 2005 So how did you get on. After I was knocked out I played a $10 sat and have now qualified for a final. The only problem is it starts at 3am today (in about 1 hrs time). Its going to be a long night.

Re: Wsop 2005 Managed to double up early on .Went all in with KK on the button with a few raises got called by A7s happy days until an ace came out on the turn. I'm getting used to the bad beats now so it didn't bother me I'm just glad the way I played. Not doing too badly on some STT's I'm defininatly learning to play better. The advice on this forum is brilliant.:ok

Re: Wsop 2005 :clap Well done all those who made a final. I couldnt play any of qual, as Im working on Sunday :\. Got a question. Bet365 put market for making final table in WSOP. Odds start from 25-1. Now if we pick let say 15-20 of them for a quid each and one makes it, then we are in profit. Any more of them and we are loaded. Is that a good idea or is it a pure lottery? Surely we can pick 10 and one of them most probably make it. Any opinions? Here is just the beginning of the list:

Re: Wsop 2005 Hi heniek, I've just been to bet365 to have a look at the market. My first impressions are it holds no initial value. Yes these players are more likely than anyone else to make it to the final, but the huge field at this years WSOP main event (6000 possibly more) makes it far too much of a lottery to bet on anyone making the final, let alone at these odds. Luck plays a huge elemant in poker, and although there will be massive starting stacks and low blinds it will be the players that have the cards fall for them that make it, a fair book here would have to have much longer odds. The majority of the final will probably be unknown players. They have the favourite right, negranaeu is the best tournament player out there and on his day is untouchable - ivey is the best cash game player imo and I would have put him joint fave with negranue. The closest to a longer "value" bet imo would be hoyt corkins at 81.00....solid player who makes great reads, has won WPT events in the past and someone I rate highly on the circuit. However I would most definately have to advise no bet on this market. That is not to say you cant find value in WSOP markets....plenty of bookies lack experience in pricing this sort of thing and already mistakes have been made this year....one major one was posted on the hendon mobs website and for the life of me I cannot remember it now :o..it was taken down by the bookie before I could post it on here tho..so if we all look around we could well spot one. Re: Wsop 2005 Stan James have put odds up with assistance from the Hendon Mob but they're missing a whole bunch of players who are doing quite well in the tournament poker scene (Michael Mizrachi probably being the most prominent). Blue Square and Victor Chandler also have odds. Agree with jezza's sentiments but at these shiatty odds, you have to be fairly naive if you're thinking you're getting any value (I think offshore bookie BoDog offered 'The Field' at 2/5 last year for any other player they didn't quote for outright odds to win. If they do it this year I assume it'll be more like 1/10 or 1/5 if they're generous!). Some guy from Gibraltar called Chris Cork is bigging himself up over on various poker forums as he's qualified for the WSOP $10,000 NL Hold'em event through PokerStars (to be fair to him, probably the euphoria's got to him and he gets a chance to brag). Calls himself 'The Cat'.

Re: Wsop 2005 Played the wsop final last night finishing 49th out of the 693 entrants. Which was a reasonable effort and I genuinley felt i made no notable mistakes. But alas it wasn't to be shortstacked for a long time i lost a coin toss hand with 8's against aj. He spiked the ace and jack on flop to condemn me.

Re: Wsop 2005 I'd love to have a shot but looking at the methods of qualfying online it just seems a lot of effort in the likelihood of essentially getting 'nothing'. Sure you'll get your airfare paid and a place to stay but the likelihood of placing in the top 10% (if there's 6600 as promised you're gonna have to get in the top 660 to get paid) is very little. ....you can say you once played in the WSOP and marvel at how good or badly you did but good God, the effort involved must be phenomenal.

Re: Wsop 2005 Well the WSOP offers another chance to lose my money as Blue Square put up odds on the various events (everybody else will almost certainly cover the final table of the $10,000 No-limit Hold'em but it seems like Blue Square really want my money! :lol). These were the odds for the final table of the $1,500 No-limit Hold'em event (the second event after the casino employees' one): Allen Cunningham (728,000) 100/30 Scott Fischman (707,000) 7/2 An Tran (337,000) 11/2 Dave Ulliott (270,000) 6/1 Can Kim Hua (440,000) 13/2 Charlie Huff (500,000) 7/1 Richard Boutwell (204,000) 10/1 *ELIMINATED* Randy Edmonson (89,000) 12/1 Liz Lieu (177,000) 14/1 5th of June 2005 10:00pm - Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas USA Just putting it here for interest's sake. I would have probably put my money on Allen or Scott but hey 10pm was a long time ago. ....they're 40 hands in already.

Re: Wsop 2005 Devilfish gace it a hell of a try but busted out in third: Hand 138 - Cunningham has the button in seat 4, he raises, and Ulliott calls. The flop comes 6h-4h-3d, Ulliott pushes all in, and Cunningham quickly calls. Ulliott has Jh-10h (flush draw with two over cards), and Cunningham has 8c-8d (an overpair). Ulliott needs to catch a jack, a ten, or any heart to stay alive. The turn card is the Ad, and Ulliott still needs to improve. The river card is the Kc, and David "Devilfish" Ulliott is eliminated in third place, earning $232,205.

Re: Wsop 2005 I missed a few events during midweek because of the Blue Square cutoff time of 10pm. Odds for WSOP Event 9 - $2,000 NL Hold Em Morgan Machina (1052k) 11/4 Erik Seidel (354k) 4/1 Cyndy Violette (305k) 11/2 Harry Demetriou (184k) 13/2 Paul Sexton (362k) 7/1 Soulier Fabrice (224k) 8/1 Perry Friedman (219k) 8/1 Chris Wunderlich (110k) 12/1 Bill Blanda (46k) 16/1 Tough for the chip leader with four established pros and a tournament regular in Seidel, Violette, Demetriou, Friedman and Sexton. I'll take my chances that he'll do a 'Greg Raymer' and hang onto the lead whilst the others beat each other up and be lucky enough to win. There's every chance in the world that one of the pros will try a semi-bluff on him and he doesn't believe 'em and Morgan will double them up but that's the chance you take. BET: £50 at 11/4 on Morgan machina. What a name....Morgan Machina. Mills & Boon couldn't come up with a dodgy name like that! :lol http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-tournaments/event.php?id=2273&screen=logs Two final tables so far in this year's WSOP for Demetriou? He was unlucky in his other one where he finished second (still the best placing by a European no less a Brit so far at the WSOP).

Re: Wsop 2005 I hope Harry does it. When i have seen him on telly he has come across as a really genuine bloke. That is one hell of a chip lead and i think 11/4 must represent value on anybody. Hell i would even back me at 11/4 with that chip lead.

Re: Wsop 2005 LOL! Did they do this specifically for ESPN?! Final Four of the Roshambo There will be an interesting addition to today's final table -- the final four of the World Series of Rock-Paper-Scissors. They are playing for a $10,000 seat into the World Series of Poker Main Event. Phil Gordon will be hosting the action, and here are the final four players: Annie Duke, Rafe Furst, Robert Boyd, and Kevin Keller. Bracket 1: Rafe Furst v. Robert Boyd The Rock-Paper-Scissors rules are explained by Phil Gordon before Bracket #1, which features Bobby Boyd against Rafe Furst. Each match is a best four-out-of-seven. Here's the first match: 1 - Bobby wins (Scissors v. Paper) 2 - Bobby wins (Scissors v. Paper) 3 - Rafe wins (Paper v. Rock) 4 - Rafe wins (Rock v. Scissors) 5 - Bobby wins (Scissors v. Paper) 6 - Bobby wins (Rock v. Scissors) Bracket 2: Kevin v. Annie Here's the second semi-final match: 1 - Kevin wins (Paper v. Rock) 2 - Annie wins (Rock v. Scissors) 3 - Kevin wins (Paper v. Rock) 4 - Annie wins (Scissors v. Paper) 5 - Kevin wins (Rock v. Scissors) 6 - Kevin wins (Paper v. Rock) Final Match: Kevin v. Bobby It's down to two players, playing rock-paper-scissors for the World Series of Rock-Paper-Scissors championship, including a trophy (made with rock, paper, and scissors, of course), and a $10,000 seat in the World Series of Poker championship. In addition, $5,000 will be donated for cancer research. Here is the final match: 1 - Kevin wins (Rock v. Scissors) 2 - Kevin wins (Scissors v. Paper) 3 - Bobby wins (Rock v. Scissors) 4 - Kevin wins (Paper v. Rock) 5 - Bobby wins (Scissors v. Paper) 6 - Bobby wins (Scissors v. Paper) 7 - Bobby wins (Scissors v. Paper) Bobby makes an amazing comeback, after being down 2-0 and 3-1, to take a 4-3 victory in the championship match of the World Series of Rock-Paper-Scissors. CardPlayer.com congratulates him on his hard-faught, well-studied victory in this grueling contest of Man vs. Rock vs. Paper vs. Scissors.

Re: Wsop 2005 WTF?! Did someone tell Perry to do this?! :lol Note: Perry Friedman has little "faces" drawn on his two hands, so he can talk to them (and they can talk to the hole cams) while he plays. Apparently, one of the hands is "evil," while the other is "good." It'll be interesting to see which hand gives him better advice at the final table. EDIT: Blimey, it seems to be working. He's knocked two players out (Blanda and Fabrice). Uh-oh. Machina has a lot of work to do to sustain a lot of potential raising and re-raising.

Re: Wsop 2005 Sixth for Harry, Mark but he gave it a hell of a go and he fell to my guy Machina....2nd and 6th? You gotta be impressed by his consistency. Hand 43 - Machina has the button in seat 6, and he raises to $60,000, Demetriou reraises all in, and Machina quickly calls. Demetriou has Qh-Js, while Machina has the lead with Ac-Kh. The flop comes Ah-Qc-2c, and both players have flopped a pair. Demetriou still needs to improve to stay alive. The turn card is the Ks, which gives Machina two pair, but Demetriou can still catch a queen (for trips) or a ten (for a straight) to stay alive (6 outs). The river card is the 6h, and Harry Demetriou is eliminated in sixth place, earning $123,915. The next player eliminated will receive $147,145 for fifth place. EDIT: Oh b'lox. Here's where the wheels start to fall off for Machina. Cyndy Violette Doubles Up Through Morgan Machina Hand 50 - Sexton has the button in seat 7, Machina raises to $60,000, and Violette reraises all in for $135,000. Machina stares her down, but she just stares right back. Machina calls the extra $75,000, showing Ac-8h, but Violette has pocket kings again (Ks-Kh). The flop comes 10h-4d-4s, and Machina will need to catch an ace or running eights to eliminate Violette. The turn card is the 3s, and Violette will win on anything but an ace. The river card is the 3h, and Violette doubles up in chips. After the hand, Cyndy Violette jokingly says she's playing nothing but pocket kings from now on. EDIT2: ...and the wheels on the bus go round and round.... :puke Paul Sexton Doubles Up Through Morgan Machina Hand 63 - Friedman has the button in seat 5, Machina raises to $50,000 from the small blind, and Sexton calls from the big blind. The flop comes Qd-Jd-6c, and both players check. The turn card pairs the board with the Jc, Machina bets $50,000, Sexton raises to $150,000, Machina reraises all in, and Sexton calls immediately. Machina shows 8s-5c, while Sexton shows Qh-Jh, and Machina is drawing dead. (The meaningless river card is the 2s.) Paul Sexton wins the pot and doubles up in chips. With that big pot, Paul Sexton has just taken the chip lead. Tournament Director Johnny Grooms provides the following chip counts: 1. Paul Sexton - $870,000 (seat 7) 2. Erik Seidel - $791,000 (seat 3) 3. Morgan Machina - $655,000 (seat 6) 4. Perry Friedman - $332,000 (seat 5) 5. Cyndy Violette - $180,000 (seat 2) EDIT3: ....all day long.... :( :sad Cyndy Violette Doubles Up Through Morgan Machina Hand 79 - Machina has the button in seat 6, and he raises to $60,000, and Violette calls all in for $58,000. Machina has Kh-10h, and Violette is dominated, holding 10d-8d. Violette is looking for an eight, diamonds, or a straight. The flop comes Ad-Qc-2c, and Violette needs an eight or running diamonds to stay alive. The turn card is the 4d, and she now has 12 outs (3 eights and 9 diamonds). The crowd is momentarily silent as the last card is a club -- but it's an 8! Cyndy Violette has made a pair to double up in chips and stay alive. It's more or less over, Machina will self-destruct and it'll probably be Seidel vs Violette soon enough. Oh well. :cry EDIT4: I cannae believe it. The four left against Machina are the four I was worrying about and they're murdering him. :o Here are the official chip counts for the final five players as they are on their dinner break. Play will resume about 8:00 pm (4am GMT). 1. Paul Sexton - $767,000 (seat 7) 2. Erik Seidel - $756,000 (seat 3) 3. Perry Friedman - $483,000 (seat 5) 4. Morgan Machina - $450,000 (seat 6) 5. Cyndy Violette - $395,000 (seat 2) EDIT5: It more or less is over for Morgan. Cyndy Violette Doubles Up Through Morgan Machina :sad Hand 91 - Violette has the button in seat 2, Machina raises to $75,000, and Violette reraises all in. Machina waits to learn the exact amount of the bet -- it's $272,000 more for Machina to call. He counts that amount out of his chip stack, rechecks his cards, and then calls. Violette has pocket jacks (Jc-Jh), and Machina has As-Kc. It's a race situation, and Violette is the shorter stack, facing potential elimination. The flop comes Qc-Qh-9h, and Violette holds on to her lead. Machina will need to catch an ace or a king to eliminate Violette. The turn card is the 3h, putting three hearts on the board, and reducing Machina's outs by two (the ace or king of hearts will make Violette a flush). The river card is the 7d, and Cyndy Violette has just doubled up to near the chip lead. EDIT6: Bluergh. :puke Morgan Machina Eliminated in 4th Place ($170,380) Hand 100- There is a dead button in seat 7, Machina raises all in for $187,000, and Violette calls. Machina shows Kh-8d, while Violette has As-Qh. The flop comes Kc-Jh-4h, and Machina catches top pair to take the lead. Violette can still win if she catches a ten or an ace. The turn card is the Ac, and Violette has made a higher pair. Now Machine needs to catch an eight or a king to stay alive. The river card is the Qc, and Violette wins the pot with two pair. Morgan Machina is eliminated in fourth place, earning $170,380. Very prophetic as the semi-bluffs did indeed undo Morgan's chip-lead. Oh well. ....if I knew he reacted that way against women, I wouldn't have bet on him! :lol :( Been an absoutely fooking horrible Sunday for me. On the PL, alone I must have dropped around £150. :sad

Re: Wsop 2005 Motherfunkin' donuts! I called it! I thought during the night following it it would be Seidel vs Violette but I just don't believe it! Is this situation familiar to Ladbrokes Poker Million viewers?! Date / Time:2005-06-12 21:36:00 Title: Perry Friedman Eliminated in 3rd Place ($196,455) Hand 115 - Friedman has the button in seat 5, he raises to $75,000, Seidel reraises to $224,000, Friedman reraises all in, and Seidel immediately calls. Friedman has pocket queens (Qs-Qc), while Seidel has pocket aces (Ah-Ad). Friedman is dominated, and looking to catch a queen to stay alive (Seidel has him outchipped). It's a $1.6 million pot, and the flop comes 9h-8s-7h, and Friedman needs a queen or a runner-runner straight to stay alive. The turn card is the 5s, and Friedman needs a queen to win or a six to chop the pot. The river card is the Ks, and Perry Friedman is eliminated in third place, earning $196,455. Erik Seidel and Cyndy Violette will now play heads-up for the bracelet. First place pays $611,795, and second place pays $295,970

Re: Wsop 2005 Should I have another crack? Or would I have to be on crack to do so? WSOP Event 11 - $2,000 PL Hold Em David Cossio (166k) 4/1 Freddy Deeb (127k) 4/1 Shah Ajay (207k) 11/2 Edward Moncada (125k) 11/2 Sharbel Koumi (102k) 6/1 Steven Hudak (125k) 8/1 Marco Traniello (104k) 9/1 Elia Ahmadian (74k) 12/1 Yoshitaka Oku (50k) 16/1 I'll have a think about it. May bet on two and hope for the best and try and claw myself out of the hole I dug myself over at Blue Square.
