Re: Serie B > September 21-22 I am posting the analysis of tonights game in Serie B - taken from weekly newsletter. EMPOLI – TERNANA Empoli: In last week’s newsletter I have written this: For Livorno only Dionisi is out +++ att, Belingheri also +++ no games, but Livorno recovers defender Bernardini ++++ who should play tomorrow Empoli: Pratali +++ def and Sapponara +++ att are doubts and surely out are Tavano +++++ att mid, Croce mid +++ no games , Coralli +++ att no games, Mori ++ def no games, Boniperti ++ att no games. Looking at both squads and performances home win looks more than likely as main difference is the quality of attack, as Livorno can play there, while Empoli looks clueless going forward, Maccarone might help a bit for Empoli, but I don’t rate him so highly at the moment. Sigiliardi and Paulinho are far to better attacks than that from Empoli. Odds are already going in this direction (-0.5 @ 1.86 for Livorno now). I would like to take a bit more but i doubt odds will go in Livorno’s direction so live bet is the option to wait for odds to raise. Good things is (but notice that sample is just too small) that Livorno score avg in 31st minutes, while Empoli concedes in 29th - so risk is there but so is the reward. It was as predicted, Livorno was the better team, but take notice that this game was decided by two long rangers, firstly Pratali in start of the game from free kick and then after the break Emerson who fired excellent shot from some 25 meters out. But back to the game, 1st half was bad, Empoli did not show anything, Livorno far better with some good opportunities, header from close range forced a good save from Dossena – who had a really good game. Empoli only after restart better and they also hit the post after some scrappy play in 16m of Livorno – in that phase Livorno scored. Empoli did pull one back after atypical attacking action – long ball to left wing, lucky dribble and great cross for 2-1. After that game got open and Livorno after missing some chances scored two – both from right wing, where I really liked Bigazzi who was a late sub – he got cross for third and scored himself as well – a shot that prior to that excellent Dossena. Empoli late in the game got consolation. Overall, Livorno far better team as predicted, while Empoli still misses some key players, Tavano especially. Macarone was quiet for whole game, so he is still not at his best. I reckon not the best times ahead for Empoli. Match stats Livorno – Empoli 4-2

Match Stats

18 Shots 11

8 Shots on goal 6

15 Fouls 15

5 Corner Kicks 4

6 Offsides 1

52 Time % 48

Ternana : In last week’s newsletter I have written this: It is hard game to predict, if there were no coach change, Ternana should be a big favourite, but due to Bisoli coming back to the place of his biggest success (brought them for Lega Pro to Serie A) and team strength, Cesena might be a favourite here. I don’t know what to expect but Bisoli said that they will take it slow. I predict Bisoli will want to make defence more reliable so probably no rushing in attack from his side. Still as already written, Ternana played okay so far, despite results don’t show that, they are playing really okay, and if they had 4 points now, that surely would not be unfair. But due to unpredictability of the game, this one is for me a big no bet. Well, to be honest, coach change did not bring any good for Cesena except winning a point. Ternana again playing very good, but failing to have a strong striker upfront is costing them valuable points for the end of the season. Overall i guessed this one correct, as Cesena`s coach Bisoli, tried to make defence far more stabile, but from what i have seen, he failed. Ternana had multiple scoring opportunities, but as said despite playing the usual 3-4-3 and having basically full team at disposal, they are firstly low on quality of attack and secondly unlucky, as only in this game, Cesena goalie Belardi had a marvellous game. Cesena as said, utterly non threatening and lucky to grab a point. What is to notice: Ternana still haven’t scored a goal in first 4 round of the tournament. Fortunes might get better in next rounds, and counting only on their performances, they can go on a good run probably if they are slightly luckier. Match stats Ternana – Cesena 0-0

Match Stats

11 Shots 3

6 Shots on goal 2

7 Fouls 19

5 Corner Kicks 4

3 Offsides -

54 Time % 46

Team news: Empoli: DEF Francesco Pratali and MIDF Riccardo Saponara are back in the team after injuries, Tavano +++++ att mid, Croce mid +++ no games , Coralli +++ att no games, Mori ++ def no games, Boniperti ++ att are still out, but they played no part so far in the league. Ternana: Same missings as last week, but MIDF Gotti +++ is in the team, no worries for their coach, convocated players same as last week. First look on the game - only performance without analysis compared to offered odds: Odds opened on +0.5 @ 1.82 for Ternana, and looking only at performances in recent games, that looked like a good bet, as Ternana looked like a solid team which plays better organised in attack, but have one problem, which is putting the ball into the net. Empoli in this part of the game, looks clueless. Prediction: With both returning players I am sure Empoli might be better in this game, they are playing the most ineffective team in league that are not playing badly at all but have problems with putting the ball into the net. Overall teams are lower quality ones and both are still without a win so far. Empoli should go with 4-4-1-1 again while Ternana with 3-4-3. Question is can Ternana score, if they can, they could win this one, still Empoli with home ground and motivation for first pair of points. Still, I can’t choose between them, so I am skipping this one. Totals are made for this game to go under, but Ternana should and probably would score anytime now and then probably also psychological barrier will be broken, so probably a wize thing to leave this one aswell.

Re: Serie B > September 21-22 Sound advice Azzurini, I don't like the look of this weekends games in Serie B and almost certainly wont be pulling the trigger with anything on my shortlist. Last week threw up a poor set of fixtures aswell, the Serie B fixture machine needs to take a look at itself, it's a desert out there.

Sound advice Azzurini' date=' I don't like the look of this weekends games in Serie B and almost certainly wont be pulling the trigger with anything on my shortlist. So heck, Serie B is as usual still the place to find good ones. One must also take into consideration that rotation is possible due to midweek games

I agree that this weeks card is a hard one' date=' but i have found three good bets for the weekend, while also last week i had the biggest bet of the season in B so far. So heck, Serie B is as usual still the place to find good ones. One must also take into consideration that rotation is possible due to midweek games[/quote'] It's good you're still finding the angles, I'm more cautious than most and have a low frequency style but I expect this will change over time. Yes rotation is possible but it's potentialy dicing with death as it introduces another element of second guessing which makes me feel uneasy. You dont seem to have issues with the more speculative efforts as you're record is always excellent in Italy. For some reason I love Serie B as a league to bet on and hopefully there'll be something to move on by next weekend. Anyway I'm definately not playing here this weekend, team news has not correlated well with my shortlist aside from the Juve Stabia V Varese match. Stabia on somekind of draw cover handicap did tempt me but I've decided to leave it as they are still weak in the forward areas. Good luck with your bets mate, I see Ternana cruised past the +0.50 line tonight but made me laugh that their opening goal was scored by the opposition and then Dumitru got on the scoresheet only to be sent off! Sarri may not have long left at Empoli me thinks. If you swerved it I still think that was the right choice because it was a real tough one to call and Empoli would have seen it as a good chance to get 3pts on the board.
