Re: Ligue 2 - March 23-26 Bonjour all! Here are some thoughts on tonight's matches ... Amiens v Sedan This will be a competitive match between these two, as both have plenty to play for. Amiens need a win desperately if they are to redress a seven point deficit from the safety zone, while Sedan need the points to keep pace at the top end of the league. Amiens did beat Angers at home a few weeks ago but are in poor shape and concede too many goals. Sedan welcome back Fauvergue to a side capable of scoring plenty of goals when they are in the mood. They haven't lost in four on the road either. Prediction: 0-1 Bet: Sedan 0AH @ (Pinnacle best price at 1.96) Angers v Guingamp Angers are in freefall right now and are struggling to get a win against anyone. This is massive match that normally they'd have designs on winning, but with Henin, top scorer Charbonnier, top assister Gomez, Couturier, Riga and Manceau all out, it's hard to make a case for them betting-wise in such poor form. Guingamp did turn it on against Lens at home last week but are generally poor travellers with five defeats in their last six matches. Very tough one to call. Prediction: 1-1 Bet: No bet Arles v Bastia The league leaders are certainties now for promotion but this won't be an easy match for them. Arles have improved immeasurably under Laurey and his switch to 5-3-2 seems to be paying dividends - they are undefeated in ten matches. Much depends on Bastia tonight but without Rothen and Khazri, this will be one of their more difficult assignments. I suspect they'll be happy to take a point back to Corsica. Prediction: 1-1 Bet: Arles +0.25AH (Ladbrokes best price at 2.04) Boulogne v Le Mans Massive match at the bottom of the table and to be honest, it's very hard to make a case for the hosts. Despite some good football, they are terribly shaky at the back and shoot themselves in the foot too often. The goals of Allart have dried up too. Le Mans lost on Monday to Reims but welcome back Narry, Ouali and Kante to a side that has improved under Zanko. Very hard one to comprehend though and one suspects it'll be cagey affair. Prediction: 0-0 Bet: No bet Laval v Tours This essentially is a match between two 'B' sides as both are missing a number of players. Laval are without defenders Rose and Talmont, while key midfielders Goncalves and Levrat also miss out. Tours are decimated too; no Oniangue, Cardy, Diego, N'Ganga, Buengo, Sartre or Lejeune, which is the crux of their side. Laval's home form is normally pretty handy but without the mainstays of their side, they have to be worth swerving in a match that could go any one of three ways. Prediction: 1-1 Bet: No bet Le Havre v Istres I scratch my head every time I write about Le Havre. They have the players on paper to skoosh this sort of match but never seem to do it. Mendes, Mesloub, Riviere and Fontaine are just some of their capable players but too often they fail to produce. Istres have punched above their weight again this year. A side built on solidarity and camaraderie, they have proven they are no pushovers this season and I'd be inclined to suspect they may return south with something. Prediction: 1-1 Bet: No bet Monaco v Chateauroux Monaco's revival continues but tonight's match against in-form Chateauroux won't be easy. Their task is made harder by the suspensions to captain Hansson and main striker Toure, who has scored five in five. Even still, there's enough quality in guys like Giuly, Salli, Dingome, Barazite and Germain to unlock a La Berri side whose defence still isn't watertight. Monaco know they need to win this sort of match to survive and could just get the job done tonight. Prediction: 2-1 Bet: Monaco -0.5AH (188bet best price at 2.04) Reims v Metz Reims' win over Le Mans on Monday night was massive, it really was. It gives them a second win and back at home, where they are strong, they have a good chance to solidify second spot away against Metz. Les messins are draw specialists on the road and can be stuffy, but they do concede and too much emphasis is put on Duhamel in attack. If Reims keep him quiet they'll prevail, and have players such as Ghilas and Faure who can score. Think they will snap a run of three games without a win at home here and worth playing with half draw cover. Prediction: 2-0 Bet: Reims -0.25AH NAP (188bet best price at 1.81) Troyes v Clermont Match of the night, as fourth meets third. ESTAC's young squad has struggled with expectation a run of midweek games, but their quality and form at home is good and are probably deserved favourites here. Clermont haven't been the same since Perrinelle and Riviere got injured and a 90+4 minute equaliser by Istres last week shows they are still frail. In saying that, a very tough match to call. Prediction: 2-1 Bet: No bet Bonne chance if you play tonight :ok

Re: Ligue 2 - March 23-26 Le Havre -0.25 @ 2.06 (4/10) Its high time Le Havre started winning again at home after a lot of draws recently. They are usually a pretty good outfit in front of their own fans, but in 2012 that hasn’t really happened for whatever reason. They are due a performance and Istres sooner or later will start to slide down the table, their squad simply isn’t good enough to maintain a consider place in the top 6. There’s value on a -0.25 line IMO and worth taking for a few units. Realistically, this is the swot of fixture I would back Le Havre to prevail most of the time. Laval -0.25 @ 2.14 (4/10) Laval have drawn a lot of games recently and I think they are due another 3 points. Always very hard to beat at home, this fixture might suit them. Tours aren’t a bad side, but they can blow hot and cold, they never really manage to get any sort of consistency together. Both sides miss a few players here so that kind of evens itself out a bit. When Laval are offered -0.25 at home facing any other average Ligue 2 side, they are usually worth backing IMO. One thing I’ve learnt over the years is not to back against them very often at this stadium. Angers (0) @ 1.83 4/10 Angers haven’t won since before Christmas, they are really due 3 points. This is the sort of match they might succeed in and finally end this drought. They’ve had injury problems recently which has affected them, again here now they miss some guys. But the chance of a 0AH @ this price on them at home tempts me too much. Guingamp aren’t that much of a good side and don’t win enough matches. Angers have shown enough encoring signs in recent weeks that they are fighting hard, sooner or later they get the maximum haul again and I’ll back them to do it tonight.

Re: Ligue 2 - March 23-26 Cannot complain about how tonight transpired. My big bet, Reims, came in with them winning 3-0. Home and hosed by half time - if Carlsberg made bets, that's how it'd go! Monaco and Sedan also won and a half-win was procured from Arles. Think this was possibly my best night of the season on these forums (wouldn't be hard mind you) so delighted to take that into the final months of the season. Hope everyone else had a few winners. See you next time :ok
