Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Brighton Unlucky Hen but vwp, great effort and at least you cashed something, gl at Goliath :clap Sorry for the shortage of updates from myself yesterday everyone, was quite a trying day in many ways, difficult to send from my Fred Flintstone phone (will upgrade it shortly) and as you could probably tell from previous posts we were all very busy battling hard to make it a multi-PL final. Thx to Hen for sending chip counts etc. Took my seat I'm guessing an hour & half late mainly due to ongoing health probs, but sometimes just making it at all is a big achievement so it's all good, no complaints and glad I made it. circa 7.5k stack on arrival so still definately playable. Interesting first hand, I complete the sb with 98s (a) looking for a flop & (b) sizing up whether the bb will allow me to open limp a lot of blinds or play back aggressively. Flop=AAQ check check, Turn=Q, check check, River=low blank. Happy at this stage to check/fold as just sizing up opponent and nothing in the pot except the blinds to bid for. bb bets, I insta-muck and he flips over Aces for flopped quads. Useful info at minimal loss. Very happy with how I played overall, floated and bluffed a couple of big pots, got lucky a couple of times and split a big all in pot with Al (AT vs AT) on KQJ board, albeit he had the possible runner runner flush which bricked on turn. Just got blinded away at the end, card dead and unable to get a first-in opportunity to push creatively. 111 entries in the end with late reg'ers, busted 21st I think or maybe 22nd, was just before the tables were broken into 2. Epic effort from Mr Teaulc surviving/winning/splitting several hands with a fraction of a blind. We both railed our hero Hen & Alun of course to the end of day 1. I'm happy to report that shoe-bombs and security personnel were not necessary on this particular rail! Great to meet Sonic, Rivrd, Roque (thanks for popping in Mark, great to meet up with you), Alun etc and ofc to see Hen, Al & Debs again. Will catch up with reb another time (Apols if missed anyone else out, lot of names to remember). Best of luck to Alun in the final today. PL win still definately possible ;)

Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Brighton UUUUUfff, home at last. First of all, great seeing and meeting new members of PL gang :D. Coming back home on the train and reading Deb's comments on FB on smelly dude, made me laugh like hell. Don't know why people where looking at me strangely. My 1st day was very satisfactory. Played perfect game. More aggressive, more stealing, more calling raises (not necessarily good thing). Mixed up the game very well. But at the end of the day, I couldn't hang on to anything better that 8 high. And obviously it was extremely annoying when told we are to finish at level 12. At that time there were 3 of us on 25 26 and 28k with 8.4k in the pot. And bubble of course too. Just 10 minutes longer ffs. PP guys couldn't do much about it as it was casino's rules :\. So, we are back today. With M3 not much to go about. I push on 2nd and 3rd hand and nearly doubled up :loon. But short stack had proper doubles up so, I was more desperate and back on 8 high. Last 3 hands. On BB (4k in and 16k left behind) had to call with any 2, so here I'm all in with 84 v QJ. Cards come up A53 2 :loon 4 :@. Split blaaaaaaah. Next hand I push blind SB on BB. He insta calls with K10, I turned over Q7 and flopped Q. Nice back to 30k. And now folded to me on the button. I see KJ, push, SB calls with A9 and I'm history. Still, enjoyed it pretty much. I got Goliath seat, which I will probably play, so include in my current stake. Thank you again Al for taking me in :ok.

Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Brighton Well done Hen, at least you have a Goliath seat to look forward to. Glad my comments gave you something to laugh at on the way home, although I wasn't laughing at the time! Lovely seeing you and everyone else as always :D

Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Brighton

PokerPlayer ‏@PokerPlayerUK Simon Griffin takes it down! After chipping away at Alun, he seals the deal with AK against Bowden's 10s #PPUKTOUR * * * * * wp Alun & indeed everyone, gg
Obviously threw the heads-up for the sake of the magazine. Nobody wants to read an interview with the editor. Just kidding. We did a deal heads-up and then played on for the seat. Safe to say I didn't play particularly well, think my heart wasn't in it once the money was locked up and to be honest I was really happy for the bloke that won. Nice guy and will be a fantastic experience for him in the GUKPT. Grosvenor put on another absolutely top class event. These really are fantastic tournaments for the money, and hope to see more of you at the next one. I might even buy some drinks ;)

Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Coventry (Aug 11th/12th) Just 64 runners today, possibly effect of Olympics, people away on holiday etc. Even the traffic was much quieter than normal, everyone staying at home. BlackBelt Live also on this weekend and also ended up with big overlay I understand, so certainly not a fault of the casino or magazine. GCasino staff excellent as always, good crowd of players, lots of good humoured chat. Great meeting up with Mr Bell, Mr Spitvenom, Mr Washman & Mr PokerPlayer Editor again and great to meet Mr Haichan for the first time. Awesome people :ok Think I've missed one? Who did I leave out? Please forgive me I'm getting old and just not with it today ;) In terms of poker, I suck, end of. Just couldn't seem to put my poker head on today. Very few chances, but did everything wrong when I did get involved. Call folding, checking multiple streets and getting pushed off instead of taking initiative in position etc, you name it, I did it all... badly. Ended up a bit frustrated with multiple callers and no hands/opportunities so when we had a big 5 way limped pot which the (active) big blind raised up and got folded around I decided to take him on from the small blind with my 99. Just called (yep I know, see above re doing everything the wrong way round) and checked the relatively safe flop of J55 with the intention of getting a bet sizing tell from my opponent before shoving. Ended up unable to compute any details whatsoever, brain just not in the same postcode and got it in against his QQ. No help, out in 55th. Not unhappy, often just making a live event is a achievement for me itself and had fun. Whole card room came to temporary halt followed by big out pouring of applause for GB Hero Mo Farrah, what a guy! Hung around a few hours, took a walk, got some food, railed the PL legends and the guys from my table. Left shortly after Andy bust (couldn't seem to get any cards/decent spots) with remaining PL'ers all seemingly a little below average. Hopefully they can pick it up without my railing bokking them ;) Going to pop back tomorrow for the side event/local events in support of GCasino/Poker Player and to rail any PL final tablers.

Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Coventry (Aug 11th/12th) Out in 23rd. Had started out well sat next to Andy and was up to 13,000 from 10,000 after about an hour. Then lost a couple of hands when my pairs was beaten by A rag when an ace hit the flop. For the next 3 hours got almost nothing to play. Was down to 6,000 with the blinds up to 800/400 and then got moved onto Alan/pokerplayer table where Spitvenom was also playing. Woke up with 10/10's after alan had raised the pot and pushed. He thought about it and called showing AQ off, the same hand that had done me at the pokerplayer event in London. Flopped trip 10's but also with a straight draw for alan. Fortunetly the turn gave me a full house which was a good thing as Alan hit his straight on the river. So doubled up to 12,000. However for the next couple of hours got very little. Pushed a few times with the only marginal hands I was getting but no one called. With the blinds at 1200/600 and a 100anti was getting pretty desperate. One of the bigger stacks who had been doing a lot of raising from early raised again and with 8700 left pushed allin with QJ off. Small blind who was shorter stacked than me thought about it for a few minutes and then called as did the raiser. Small blind showing 22's and raiser AKoff. The flop gave small blind trip 22's but on the turn I hot a Q which would have given me the sidepot of around 7,000. However the river was an A and I was out. Shortly after me Spitvenom was out when his AK was beaten by AJ. At that stage Washy was still in and running quite well. Good to meet the guys. Dissapointed I couldn't make a biger push as we got towards the money.

Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Coventry (Aug 11th/12th) Stayed over and played the Sunday evening Sharky special. Main event final table had already finished by the time I got there so unfortunately don't know result yet. Sharky giveaway basically a £15+2 4,000/20min (8,000 single rebuy or addon allowed) with £1,500 GUKPT seats/tokens etc given away for (a) busting sharky, (b) being bust by sharky, © first player out, (d) reaching final table, (e) highest hand of the night etc. Straight away on the bounty table and bided my time. Played much better picking up a couple of decent pots. Quickly got a chance with 4-way allin pot, my TT against Sharky's 33 & 2 other raggedy hands. Flop: all low Turn: 3 (dohhhhhhh) River: blank Sharky busts the other 2, but I have 250 chips left over so didn't pick up the £75 bounty or £35 busted consolation either, sad face (but fun format, can't help but laugh). Took the rebuy, table got broken, pocket AA first hand on new table. Good value in the pot already with 4 limpers and I managed to eventually isolate a single player with my pre flop raise & post flop shove. AA vs 77 albeit he also had up & down straight draw. Turn does me in again. Left short stacked, Sharky arrives once more, I shove his raise with 85o hoping to suck out a much needed double up or bust out to him and achieve the latter (to his AJ) so pick up a £35 voucher to use against a future GUKPT or side. Fun times, good friendly local crowd & dealing/tournament staff really got into the spirit.

Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Coventry (Aug 11th/12th) Great reports guys. And really good to see so PL supporting the event, in what was I agree a bit of a disappointing turnout. I firmly expect Leeds and London to be back well over 100 runners. It was just a bit of a freak weekend, with so few runners coming from the host casino unlike normal. The Olympics really didn't help. Next time there is an Olympics in the UK we won't run a tournament the same weekend! I think Black Belt suffered worse than us. Really enjoyed chatting to Bart. An absolutely top bloke and an asset to PL. Enjoyed pure bubbling in 10th a bit less. I played a couple of hands really badly so I can't blame anything or anyone else but myself. Final hand was pretty boring, three-betting pocket fives from the BB and running into Aces. Hope to see some more of you in Leeds. They really are cracking tournaments, and if a total fish like me can nearly make the final twice anyone can.

Re: PokerPlayer Magazine Tour 2012 - next leg Leeds (Oct 27th/28th) Latest issue (88 - Sept Mad Marvin cover) has details of the Freeroll (2nd Sept) & Mag exclusive sats (6th Sept/9th Sept). These tend to kick off the qualifiers. There are typically generic daily sats in the week or two prior to the event. Bit of a trek for me, but will see if I can get in cheap and make a weekend of it like Coventry :)

wp Duncan :clap Did watch a little of the last 4' date=' but kept getting d/c'd[/quote'] Cheers Bart Going back through the thread I think you won a seat + expenses for an earlier leg. Do you remember how it was dealt with ? I was slightly surprised the expenses weren't immediately in my Grosvenor account. Thanks
