2.55 Ripon Don't Call Me - has run well on all four runs this term. Ran well over inadequate 7f in ladies race at Ascot and then decent third at Goodwood having stumbled leaving gates back over a mile. 3rd at Haydock last time and been put up 2lb but looks capable of impacing off this mark. 6/1 Paddypower, 1 pt win

Re: BBOTD - Sat 13th August He simply never liked the ground in the German Derby but he won as he liked at Royal Ascot. Trainer Tom Dascombe only sends the 2 runners to Newbury but this is the one the yard would like to see win. He's still only a baby but from 6 races he's won 4, no reason why he wont get the trip and he will be much more at home with the ground. Newbury 3:05 BROWN PANTHER - 1pt Win @ 5/1 Hills and a few others. If he hits the front someone hand Mr Owen the Kleenex.

Ran well LTO and should be ok with the conditions and would appreciate the rain to stay away. Most of the early pace in this race looks to be around the selection which should be a big help. Broke her maiden last time out beating First Fast Now, who was bizarrely given exactly the same mark, off which she finished second at Beverley on Wednesday. The selection has gone off as favourite on all three of her starts, but was somewhat disappointing on her first two runs. However, she was then given a 54-day break and finally did the business last time, albeit still running somewhat green, which suggests she could still improve. The RP forecast was 11/2, and I'm surprised that 11/1 is available, given the fact that she has been so well backed in the past.

Forgot to mention that although she won over 5f, she is out of a Tiger Hill mare and therefore bred for further, so the 7f shouldn't be a problem. Also, 1pt win.

Re: BBOTD - Sat 13th August 0.5 e/w lady by red doncaster 14.40 @ sp lady by red has only had 1 run todate finishing 3rd in a 7 furlong contest 2 weeks ago,as today that was a class 5 contest,on that run lady by red went ahead to early and was coming back to the field(fading in the last furlong) i think if lady by red can be held up a little maybe third or 4th going into the last 2 furlongs it should have enough to grab a place maybe even 1st,the 6 furlong should suit as 7 was just to much,trading at 12.5 on betfair at the mo i think lady by red might go off about 8 or 9/1 so definetly an e/w selection

But is well drawn here today and with claimer on board and going in his favour is worth taking a chance on at this price and trainer Dandy could well take this again today.

Re: BBOTD - Sat 13th August 650 MR: Pyracantha (5/1 PP) Small field yet intertesting novice chase with the Pipe's introducing a French import in Taratata Sivola, he's only 4 and has some experience of the bigger fences already and does recieve loads of weight. Not sure i'm a fan of odds on fav's in these type of races and it gives us plenty of value about Jenny Candlish's horse Pyracantha, has taken time to adjust to fences but has shown glimpses of decent form, we can forget his last run in hot company and at 5/1 looks a fair bet if this fav isnt what its cracked up to be.

There are no great expectations but trainer Mick Channon and jockey Martin Harley has previously been successful in similar races. Today's race is a Class 1 race, the horses aged 2 years. Horse. Shivsingh have never previously participated in a race. The young horse is a Colt Bya. Expectations for this horse, is based on the trainer and jockey. Coach Mark Channon has previously had success with young horses. He is an excellent coach when it comes to lead them from the barn to the track. With horses aged 2 years, he participated in 1882 races in the last 5 seasons, where 225 was won and 695 place. Jockey. Martin Harley has had a quiet season. He only been to 26 races. However, they have been relatively profitable. Of the 26 races 7 was won while 4 have ended whit palce. It provides a win rate of 26.92%. Win and Place have come in races that are similar to it today. The same distance and surface.

Re: BBOTD - Sat 13th August Market Rasen 7.20 Zorro De La Vega win - 12/1 SJ In cracking form in 2009, but injured after a heavy fall. Had a spin over hurdles 4 months ago and finished well beaten, but he was never good over hurdles. Back over the larger obstacles today for trainer in form. The price on offer is big enough for a modest Saturday gamble. If he's back on song, he will go close here.

Re: BBOTD - Sat 13th August Newbury 3.05 1 pt Win - Census 9/2 Improved with every run this year. Was behind Brown Panther at Royal Ascot but got going to late and that was only his 2nd outing of the year. 3lb better off today. Would have won last time out but for hanging badly at Newmarket behind Derby 8th Masked Marvel, no problem with trip, ground or course. The 3 yr olds look to have the beating of the older horses and should go close.

Lightly raced and each way chances on best form, so with being open to finding a little improvement, he could surprise this evening. The trip and ground don't look too much of a concern and the race has enough pace about to suit. Needs to prove fitness after a 202 day break, but obviously not easy to get to the track and so hopefully he's ready to go today. Big odds and well worth the risk. 33/1 Bet365 (bog)

Re: BBOTD - Sat 13th August 3.30 Ripon - 1pt win Tajneed @ 7/1 (Bet365) - BOG Naturally the Great St Wilfrid is a competitive affair, but Tajneed stands out for me, partly because of his tremendous course record, and probable good draw in stall 3. His record at the track reads 11121 with his only defeat coming a very close 2nd in this race last year. However, it's not just his track form which gives him a huge chance - his recent form is very strong also. He ran an absolute cracker when 2nd to Hoof It at York, beaten under a length, and he should have been closer to that horse in the Stewards Cup last time out. He was actually drawn one stall closer to the far rail than Hoof It, but that horse decided to go over there, whilst Tajneed stayed in the middle of the track isolated with just a small group. He kept on but would have been a lot closer had he raced on the far side, as the middle was supposedly the worst part of the track. That won't be a concern today from stall 3, and I just hope it proves to be the best part of the track. He's in sparkling form, his course record is hugely impressive, and this mark isn't beyond him with conditions to suit.

Acts on all going and has been close on this track a couple of times. Finished second to Tagneed off 98 and running off 93 today. 0.5EW Ladbrokes 16/1

Dods has come into decent form of late and this horse is already proven over the trip, and has dropped a few pounds down to 90, a handy mark. Re: BBOTD - Sat 13th August 3.20 Newmarket Arctic Feeling 40/1 Bet365 Backed this horse a couple of times this year now and has disappointed. He has had excuses however and hopefully he can run a better race today. Stable are in better form now and this horse did show some very decent form as a 2 year old. A return to his 2 year old form would see him go very close.

Re: BBOTD - Sat 13th August Ling 7.40 - Exchange - win at 15/8 with Wm Hill Class 6 claimer on the polytrack over a mile Exchange has a lot going for him - he's the only course winner, he's the only one who's won at a mile, he's already won 4 claimers this season and he's the top rated horse on official ratings and RPR Was pretty well beaten last time but that was a class 3 handicap at Newmarket so takes a significant drop back in grade today

Re: BBOTD - Sat 13th August 8.10 Lingfield Not a guaranteed pace in this race but there should be a decent pace, Black Pond is from the Johnston yard and has front run before like many of the yards runners. If What and Maybe and Last Act have both been prominent before and If What is well drawn against the rail to be prominent. That should suit Fastinthestraight who clearly goes well round here off a decent pace. He has a good record on the AW winning 3 times over 1m2f and won over CD last time out with such ease a 7lb rise in the weight looks lenient considering he won so easily building upon a promising run over same CD behind Sunset Boulevard who he meets again today on worse terms but I would expect him to reverse that form with Boulevard getting first run that day I would expect Dane Oneill was pulled over the cobbles for that ride that day but made smooth work of it last time out and Boulevard has also been out of form since on turf although a good record around here is noted. Spinning Ridge has a nasty habit of popping up reguarly on the AW and is now on his last winning mark but has to prove he stays this far which he has failed to do on 3 starts over this trip. Black Pond looked a decent sort in maidens at the turn of the year on the AW but has rapidly gone the wrong way this season and hope remains that return to AW brings about a turnaround, he has also tumbled in the weights but even so he is a no bet simply because of his attitude at the moment. The one that is worth a saver bet is Adoyen Spice who is another that should be suited by a strong pace, she has a tendency to go well fresh and is now only a 1lb above last winning mark and Martin Lane takes the ride again having won on her before and has a 17% strike rate for Murphy. She also wheres the first time blinkers which may just bring out some improvement aslong as they dont spice her up too much as she can often pull hard without them. 1pt win Fastinthestraight 5/4 pp

Re: BBOTD - Sat 13th August Lingfield 8:10 Black Pond 8-1 Skybet 1 Point WIN Mark Johnston horses hit a bit of form last few days and this runner looks interesting with the booking of the best all weather jockey thats ever lived Neil Callan. Down to a lowly mark of 62 this horse has performed better over this distance in a better class of a much higher mark(Yarmount C5 10F 2nd of 6 off a mark of 74 for example). We know he will stay the trip as all Johnstons horses do. I expect a front running display and the other horses off the bridal and not able to pass the Johnston horse down the straight. 8-1 looks massive and expect it to go off much shorter, wont take much winning this race.
