Re: BBOTD 19th July 3.30 Mussleburgh Face East doesn't immediately jump off the page as an obvious contender here but has a couple of things in his favour today. His stable has exploded into form with 3 winners yesterday alone, he has shown his only glimmer of ability over this C/D and he has a jockey on board who is 2-4 on the stables mounts in the last week. The stable also has 3 runners in this and Mathers chooses to remain on board this one who has also slipped to an embarrassingly low mark. If he can't win or go close off this mark then he never will. 1 Pt win 22/1 Hills

Re: BBOTD 19th July 1 point win liberty ship yarmouth 16.45 9/4 bet365 liberty ship won well 5 days ago over 5 furlongs in a class 6 race(same as today) but thats not the main reason im backing liberty ship today,i had a phone call yesterday morning which went something like this quote "our Freddies horse is running at yarmouth tomorrow and has a great chance,not sure if the going will effect it but worth a couple of quid" if connections are happy then so am i. a word of warning liberty ship has failed to deliver in the past when meant to run well but it gets my bbotd today (nap)

Re: BBOTD 19th July 840 Bangor: Rawaaj 1pt (4/1 Corals/Boyles) Conditional jockeys race and the useful Henry Brooke takes the ride on Rawaaj for Donald McCain. He ran poorly at Towcester when last seen over hurdles but he can be forgiven for that as some horses just dont suit that track, it was also quite firm that day. Been chasing since withoiut success and then ran on the level at Carlisle last week and was a good third. That should have put him spot on for this which is a stiff task off top weight but just think the race will be run to suit and the main danger With Grace has been raised 6lbs for a win in a poor race at Uttoxeter.

Re: BBOTD 19th July 7.00 Southwell Most of these come into this with very little if any recent form all except AmTired who showed plenty of promise in last 2 runs all over this CD each time slowly away making up a lot of late ground and only failed by a neck last time out behind the useful fibresand performer Positivity and if repeating that has to go very close off same mark and even better drawn today if getting out on terms. Clearly handles this surface and yard remain in good heart. The saver bet is George Thisby who is 1 from 1 on the fibresand admitly over 6f, potential excuses for poor runs so far this season, last time out was over a trip to far and first run of season was on fast ground which has never suited before. Millman yard doing well recently and if memory serves me right (Racingpost site down so cant get stats) they have a very good record at this track. Its also worth noting its there only runner tomorrow and is a long drive from Devon so clearly not just going for the day out and if first time blinkers have a positive effect he is well handicapped 5lb below last winning mark and is wel drawn in stall 4. 1pt win Amtired 10/3 vc

Re: BBOTD 19th July Yarmouth 14:15 - Emirates Art @ 11/10 Sportingbet 1pt win Did not think we'd see this one at odds against today with only 3 runners to beat, Simcock's runner's were out of luck here yesterday and the stable don't have a great record here although its just a small sample, could be possibly why its drifting. Anyway I think its the best horse in the race, unlucky to finish 3rd LTO ran a bit slowly away from the stalls which is often the cases for horses FTO, will be better for that run and looks to have an easy task of getting off the mark here.

Re: BBOTD 19th July 1point win pokfulham 400 musselburghthis ones been heavily backed and its easy to see why. he made all in one of these type races last month and although that was of a lenient mark hes done well in defeat at ayr and york since. plus hes won at the hurdling game a few times this year so is in good heart il take a chance on the 3/1 at PP in the hope hel drift and win

Re: BBOTD 19th July 3.45 Yarmouth - 1pt win Memphis Man @ 8/1 (VC) - BOG Often around this time of year, it's difficult to assess soft ground races, but Memphis Man is well proven on this kind of surface, and remains well handicapped to strike. A winner off a mark of 75 in the past, David Evans' 8-year-old runs off 59 today with Richard Evans taking off a further 3lbs. With 8 runners lining up as things stand, he looks a very solid e/w bet to me at around the 8/1 mark, given his generally consistent nature. He always tends to be staying on, but has found it a little bit tougher in quicker conditions the last couple of races - even if he did win on good to firm at Salisbury in May. He's essentially 4lbs higher including the respective claims today for that 2l victory, so I'm not concerned about his handicap mark. He didn't get going the pace required on his most recent 6f starts, and his latest run can be well and truly ignored over a mile having come wide at Chester in a Lady Amateur Riders race. All 12 of his career wins have come over sprinting trips. 5 of his wins have come when the ground has been softer than good, and does have a course and distance success to his name. Conditions look suitable today. Despite David Evans' horses not firing on all cylinders recently, you can't say he's bang out of form, so it isn't too much of a concern for me. It's not a strong race, which gives me hope that Memphis Man will be quick enough to pick them up in the closing stages of the race.

Re: BBOTD 19th July 8.30 Southwell - Spic N Span - win at 4/1 BOG Laddies Serial CD winner with a good draw Track suits his front running style as it seems difficult for horses in the rear to pick up quickly Fairly well beaten last time but was out the front most of the way until wekening in the last 150 yards. That was on g/f ground and he's much more at home on the fibresand.

Some horses in this grade can be quirky and unpredictable but that can't be said of this lad. He always runs his race and is relatively talented for this level. He has a great chance here and will be hard to peg back if and when he hits the front 1pt win @ 1/2 Paddy Power BOG

Re: BBOTD 19th July 8.30 Southwell - Liberal Lady (9/2 William Hill) 1pt Win Not shaped too badly in two starts for new yard who have a particularly good strike rate at this track, looks to be just about the only one in this field with the possibility of untapped potential. Likes to race up with the pace which I think is important over the straight 5 furlongs at Southwell and according to Timeform progeny of her sire have a 20% strike rate at the track. Not been very strong in the market but I think that's more to do with the money coming for Spic N Span than anything else and I think the 9/2 available represents good value.

Nice winner Fin :ok B7.10 Lord Ryeford 1pt Win 9/2 William Hill The horse is an 11-y-o now but still retains plenty of ability and had dropped to a very decent mark now. The horse has often been amateur ridden of late, but P J Brennan is in the saddle tonight, he has been on board for most of the horses previous wins. The horse is one of only 2 course winners in the field and looks sure to run its race this evening off a mark much lower than its last winning mark.

Hughie Morrison has his string in decent heart at the minute, this horse too well handicapped to ignore here having won from a mark of 72 in May last year but due to some terrible runs now runs from the mark of only 45. With Jacob Moore claiming an additional 7lbs, if this horse could recapture any kind of form, would be tough to beat on a track it has winning form at.
