chuck1160
Re: ARGENTINA Primera Division 2011 Thread I'm going to take Estudiantes on a + handicap. Last time these two met Estudiantes won 2-0. Sarandi is probably rightly favorites here, but like said by the poster above, a draw is good enough for Arsenal Sarandi. Meanwhile Estudiantes have nothing to play for, but will want to end the year well. Estudiantes drew their last two games, and I think its very likely we see another draw here. Estudiantes have drawn 5 out of their last 9 games. Most importantly I think neither team wants to lose. A draw suits both teams perfectly. :hope No win. No lose. meh, all even for me here. tommy schnurmann
Re: ARGENTINA Primera Division 2011 Thread Velez-Racing Was a successful day so i will take a shot at Racing ML with small stacks. Velez crowned themselves Champion of this torneo last week. They dont play for anything here. Often you see teams lose the focus a bit when they become champion prematurely. also velez had a long season with 2 competitions and it seemed they were running out of gas a bit anyway compared to their great shape in April and May. Racing with the option to either win and enter copa Sudamericana or watch another Copa on tv. la Academia had a bad run over the past weeks and will be missing their best striker and player Gutierrez which should be a real blow to them so obviously short stacks here but they have the opportunity to reach a international competition after a while and need the win to qualify. so if this is still a close game in the 2nd half there is no point in settling for a draw for them and they will aim for the away win. think odds are worth a shot. tommy schnurmann
Re: ARGENTINA Primera Division 2011 Thread yeah velez had victories after leaving libertadores. but then again, huracan is awful and pretty much everybody beats them and against godoy cruz they didnt convince to much. also these were games when the championship race was still open. But i would not really be surprised if Velez would win comfortably cause of course they are better than Racing, so i play this with short stacks. chuck1160
Re: ARGENTINA Primera Division 2011 Thread Today we have some very important games in Argentine football. The playoffs. With everyone watching River waiting to see what will happen. River have failed to win once in their last 7 games. Recording 4 consecutive draws before their defeat to Lanus last week. Interestingly enough River actually have quality players, but just can't seem to win. They are passing through an awful moment. Belgrano; I don't know much about them. I have not seen them play. I do know they are from a lower division though and that in terms of quality River are way above them. The pressure is on for both teams. River can't afford to go to the second division meanwhile Belgrano will be desperately wanting to get into the first division. I think nerves will come into play today. Which team will make more mistakes? Its a hard one to answer. Its a 180 minute match, so both teams will play with cation today. I'm expecting a draw or very narrow win for River. I will play it relatively safe with this bet. Belgrano vs River Plate = River Plate +0.5,1 @ 1.33 bet365
tommy schnurmann
Re: ARGENTINA Primera Division 2011 Thread San Martin SJ- Gimnasia LP San Martin AH 0 @1.7 bet365 we have 1st leg of relegation/promotion playoffs here and its a bit difficult to evaluate the strength of the National B home side since i never saw them playing this year. Nontheless i'm confident they wont lose here. the quality of Argentinians second division is not that far behind the primera division like the good torneo of All Boys last half year and Olimpos this half year proved- sides that promoted from national B last season. San Martin was in the race for the direct promotion until the last matchday, they are a team from the chilean boarder and Gimnasia has to travel here which is not that usual in this league with so many Buenos Aires team. But that doesnt mean to much since San Martin hasnt a extraordinary home record just usual stuff and Godoy Cruz another team from the region is better in away games than at home. reason for the pick is actually that Gimnasia played poorly again vs Huracan in the play off match on wednesday. Now relegated Huracan is certainly one of the worst teams who participated in primera division over the past years and they played with 9 men for 60 minutes. Still it was a horrible match and Gimnasia even allowed their opponents opportunities to equalize. Also San Martin could prepare all week for this playoffs encounter whereas Gimnasia had to qualify with the victory over Huracan and a big factor here is that this relegation play offs are nothing new for Gimnasia. They played them in 08/09 and 09/10 as well. both times they lost the away 1st leg to second division team and saved themselves with home wins. So they know the procedure and regulations which stipulate that a draw after 180 minutes allows team from primera division to stay up. So i think they trust in their home field adventure here and draw would be very good result for them. But i believe San Martin is able to win, so AH0 on them is a good bet in my eyes and -0.25 line would also be playable.
tommy schnurmann
Re: ARGENTINA Primera Division 2011 Thread River Plate-Belgrano River AH -1.5 @2.5 bet365 i will also play River Plate on the AH -1.5. Not much to say here, Millionarios are in deep crisis. They did not win any of their last 8 matches, lost the 1st leg in Cordoba with 0-2.So they win this match by minimum 2 goal margin now or will relegate. After Belgrano scored the second goal, some borracho del tablon barra brava members entered the field to threaten and insult the own players. Actually that helped River a bit, without the interruption they probably would have lost bigger. Instead momentum shifted and River was the better team for the rest of the match. The situation is really crazy here with River players need to hide from the fans until sunday and there are banners saying that River Plate would play for their history and the squad for their lives on sunday. Government allowed River to play with fans in the stands despite the riots in Cordoba and from the sporting viewpoint i would think River Plate has to relegate cause of their bad shape. But this is not a normal football match anymore. With 75 % of argentinian football fans supporting either Boca or River, relegation for millionarios would be bigger than Corinthians in Brasil who also have huge fanbase, but there in Rio Fla-Flu is the biggest game, in Sao Paulo Corinthians-Palmeiras etc. So with speculation if River relegation would damage government of Christina Kirchner and such crazy things, i think anything can happen from biased referee to threats against belgrano team etc. Imho chances River avoids relegation are 50-50, odds suggest otherwise and so i back -1.5 line here. tommy schnurmann
Re: ARGENTINA Primera Division 2011 Thread And crazy things can happen in Argentina. There's the potential for free bets in this one too. besides the hooligans the referee disappointed also. there were situations when he could have awarded more penalty kicks or send off Belgrano players if they would have wanted to save River. No idea what River Plate did to AFA. Anyway i fell for the trap to doubt River Plates relegation which was obvious from the sporting viewpoint since Wednesday. San Martin win a small consolation. This will be a great game where all the attention will focused. The leadership of Apertura 2011 is opened and will be decided in this game between the two teams of the moment. And the clash couldn't be more balanced: in six games both played this season, the teams won fourteen points. And both scored the same number of goals, eight, conceding only one single goal. And if both teams don't use a spectacular tactical scheme, bot use the same style, playing with four defenders. We will see both teams trying to control the possession of the ball. But talking about Argentinian football, we will see for sure a open game where the tactic will have less importance than the players, the stars. And on that point, Boca Juniors has more players that can decide the game.
