I feel there should be a distinction between group matches and knockout, one off games in European matches. Plzen/Qarabag fits my bill.
Agree about the prospects in the Red Star match but I tend to avoid English refs abroad (perhaps wrongly). Good luck with the "middle" and the header? .

I like the overall logic for this one but looking at the ref's stats for CL games my enthusiasm is tempered slightly. I'll have a modest bet on >55 points at 21/20 with Hills (odds on everywhere else). Their 2/1 for >65 points is also best available (and, for me, would be preferable to their 21/10 for >6 cards given that red cards only count as one).
Anthony Taylor handles Red Star Belgrade v Maccabi Haifa which has the highest bookings quote of the day (mid 60s). With the away team leading 3-2 it could be another hotly contested game. Looking at his stats for European competitions (qualifying and main) he seems a solid "middler" when it comes to the 4-6 cards line. I've taken 6/5 about what feels like pretty much a coin toss.
As posted elsewhere I'm also on a header scored in that game at 6/5. Follow at your peril as my bets in that market are very much at the experimental stage (unlike my bookings bets which have a long, proven history of being loss making)>

    Gil Vicente vs FC Famalicao
In the last season, the two teams satisfied the audience, giving them entertaining encounters, where 8 goals were seen from 2 clashes 4-0 for Gil Vicente at home ground and 2-2 in the second outing. FC Famalicao has proven their worth in attack at the Estadio Cidade de Barcelos, netting at least one goal in 5 of the previous 6 encounters, and at least 2 in 4 of the previous 5 clashes. Given that both teams struggled in defense, I expect an open duel.

The Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League has a new leader at the top of the table. Well played to Darren Bould and his Onezerotwo side for storming to the top of the league with a decent 72 point haul this week! Unfortunately, Darren is another who signed up to the league but hasn't made us aware of his username in the sign-up thread so won't be eligible for any prizes if he wins!
It was also Darren and Mohammed Idrees Hassan aka @nawoo and his FC Germany team who earned the highest points tally this week of 72 points. Great work in what generally seemed a low-scoring week with the average points tally being just 48 points. The fact Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool all dropped points with big players failing to score big was a huge contributing factor this week.
However, if you managed to get the likes of Martin Odegaard, William Saliba, Rodrigo, Ivan Perisic, and Allan Saint-Maximin in your team then you were laughing. Will you be tempted to bring any of them in for next week?
A quick nod of disrespect to Stuart Eades aka @MinellaWorksop and his Dynamo CamSmith FC team for earning a week low of just 22 points! A generally solid looking team was let down by a back five that only picked up 3 points and a midfield four that saw three of those players earn 3 points or less. It's a ruthless league this year!
Remember, it's a double set of games next week so there will be a deadline this Saturday and then a deadline the following Tuesday! All the best!

    Montpellier vs AJ Auxerre
Both teams have conceded hilarious number of goals so far this season. Montpellier allowed 7 goals in 2 matches, while AJ Auxerre have watched their defense breached 6 times in 2 games. Conversely, both teams have also scored their fair share of goals, as Montpellier scored 5 times in 2 games, while AJ Auxerre found the net three times in 2 league matches. Therefore both teams should get on the score sheet.

    Atalanta vs Milan
There will be fireworks when Atalanta and Milan square off against each other in the Serie A derby on Sunday evening. The Orobici kicked off the new domestic campaign in style, with the team beating Sampdoria 2-0 on the road, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry against the title holders. Ademola Lookman, who scored on his Serie A debut, is widely expected to start against Milan, while all Ederson Jose, Merih Demiral, and Davide Zappacosta are out of contention through injuries. La Dea stayed out of the continental zone last time, and they don’t want to repeat the same mistake again. Jeremy Boga is the guy to pay attention to, he arrived from Sassuolo in the winter transfer window, and Atalanta got a big boost.
On the other hand, the Rossoneri started their title defense with a 4-2 in over Udinese. In their last meeting in Bergamo, Milan recorded a 3-2 win over Atalanta. Despite key wins for both sides last time out, Milan knows they cannot afford to miss a beat in their early season form this month, as Stefano Pioli's charges look to keep up their momentum. Rade Krunic has excellent ball control, he can play in several positions, and every team needs such a player. Milan boss Stefano Pioli has to contend with a number of unavailable players. Sandro Tonali (Unknown Injury) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Knee Surgery) miss out here.
    Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction
It will be a close game that can easily go either way. Atalanta is very good in front of its fans, and we think they will hold the defending champions to a draw.
    Goals Market Prediction
Both teams have significant attacking potential, and they should show their offensive power on Sunday evening. Therefore, we think both teams will find the back of the opponent’s net.

Both sides will probably play weakened sides in this match, but Wednesday should still have enough to beat Rochdale comfortably. Wednesday have started the season well with just 1 defeat in 6 games winning 4 . Rochdale on the other hand have not won a league game so far scoring just once. Their only success has in the previous round when they beat Burton 2-0 who have also had a poor start to the season whilst Wednesday won 2-0 at home to Sunderland in the previuos round.

    Manchester United vs Liverpool
It's the big one on Monday night as local rivals Manchester United and Liverpool go head-to-head in this 8pm BST kick-off from Old Trafford. Neither of these great teams have experienced the sort of starts to their season they would have wanted but this is a chance to earn a morale-boosting victory for the fans and move on up the Premier League table with a much-needed 3 points.
Manchester United are already in crisis mode after just two league games. Erik ten Hag's era has started in disastrous fashion with a 2-1 home loss to Brighton followed by a 4-0 battering away to Brentford. The Red Devils now face an even tougher challenge in potential title contenders Liverpool. It's ominous that ten Hag could become the first United manager since John Chapman back in 1921 to lose his opening three games in charge of the club and this could be the first time since 1986 that they have lost their first three league games of a top flight season. There is also a worry that United could lose 5 league games in a row for the first time in over 50 years. That said, it was back in 1992/93 that they lost their opening two Premier League games but still went on to win the league title. It's interesting to read that ten Hag has already hinted captain Harry Maguire will be benched for this game.
Liverpool haven't had things all their own way so far this season either. Jurgen Klopp's men are yet to pick up a win so far this season. The Reds needed to come from behind twice away to Fulham to draw 2-2 on the opening weekend of the season and then managed to hold on for a 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace despite going down to 10 men. It's the first time since 2012 that Liverpool have failed to win either of their opening two league games of a season. If they draw this game it'll be the first time in the club's history that they have drawn their first three league games of a season. However, it's not all bad news. Liverpool remain unbeaten in 21 league games played during 2022. Mohamed Salah could be worth an anytime scorer punt because the Egyptian is just 1 goal away from being the first ever Liverpool player to score 10 or more goals against Manchester United.
Head-to-head statistics don't give Manchester United fans much optimism here with the team picking up just 1 win in their last 12 meetings with Liverpool. In fact, Liverpool have won the last three encounters on the trot and have won back-to-back away league games at Old Trafford. I'm struggling to see how Liverpool won't win this given the state United are in but if the rumours of ten Hag dropping Maguire are true then at least they're making one step in the right direction.

    Leeds vs Chelsea
The first preview for the Premier League games on Sunday that I'm looking at is the clash between Leeds and Chelsea in a 2pm BST start from Elland Road. Both teams are unbeaten after their first two league games so there is a chance to extend that undefeated run here. Will we see the home team spring a shock result or will the away side continue their decent away form under Thomas Tuchel?
Leeds were a team I thought might struggle this season under Jesse Marsch but the American head coach has enjoyed an encouraging start to the season. A 2-1 win at home to Wolves in their opening league game was followed up by a chaotic 2-2 draw away to Southampton. The Whites will have been disappointed to give away a two goal in lead in that second game having come from behind to win in their first match. Leeds have only managed to keep 5 clean sheets in their last 41 Premier League games. It's ominous reading that Leeds also lost each of their 12 league games played against teams that finished in the top six last season. Rodrigo could be a shout for anytime scorer as he looks to become just the 4th player in Leeds history to score in each of their first 3 top flight appearances for the club after Arthur Hydes (1933/34), Mick Jones (1968/69), and Patrick Bamford (2020/21).
Chelsea have looked in solid form so far this season with a narrow 1-0 win away to Everton and then the dramatic 2-2 draw at home to Tottenham last weekend. It can be argued that the Blues probably haven't quite hit their stride yet but they remain unbeaten from their first two league games including playing a fellow Champions League qualification rival. Thomas Tuchel's side could keep clean sheets in their first two away league games of a season for the first time since 2005/06 when Jose Mourinho was manager. It's interesting to see that the last 9 goals scored by Chelsea have each been scored by different players showing their goal scoring threat across the pitch. Another interesting stat is that Raheem Sterling has finished on the winning team in 11 of the 12 away league matches where he scored.
There's no doubt that Chelsea come into this game as firm favourites and that statistic isn't made any better for Leeds fans by the fact that Leeds are without a win in the last 7 Premier League meetings. Their last victory against Chelsea in the league came at Elland Road in a 2-0 win back in 2002. These two teams were in completely different places back then! I think Chelsea should pull off a business-like win. Is the clean sheet on? I would always fancy backing that with Tuchel in charge for a Chelsea away game.

Week 2 has come to a conclusion and we have a new leader at the top of the table in @tschurchy and his Show Me the Mane team. A second 80+ points haul in a row has seen him move up the table to the summit. It was an impression feat this week given his captain Erling Haaland only earned him 10 points. A proper team effort from the rest of his players. Tom is closely followed by a number of rivals including the familiar faces of @Team Sagga and @jarvisla plus a new name in @Diwopa!
Well played to Neil O'Hara and his Strategic Patience side who earned the most points in a week with 97 points. His decision to captain Gabriel Jesus was a stroke of genius and accounted for over a third of those points in itself! Unfortunately, it doesn't appear Neil has confirmed joining the league in the sign-up thread so he won't be eligible for any prizes if he goes on to win them unless he does that.
The name of shame for the lowest score this week goes to Sam Woolworth and his Plus Plus Power team. Sam is another is hasn't yet posted his join confirmation in the sign-up thread but that won't stop us chanting his name and ringing a bell through the streets of the UK to let the world know how bad his 14 points tally was this week! It's probably fair to say he would've earned more points had he not had the likes of Marcos Alonso, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Harvey Barnes, Raphinha, and Diogo Jota in his squad. All of those players not playing of course. Plus, Darwin Nunez headbutting Joachim Andersen didn't do him any favours!
On to next week anyway! What decisions are you looking at this week? Any leftfield transfers under consideration? Will you keep faith with Liverpool players? Who will you captain this week? Will you put any of your special tokens into action?

Did Norwich, Watford, WBA treble, but Watford were pretty disappointing, barely had a shot after they equalised. Jaoa Pedro put in a 1/10 performance but somehow the manager missed it and kept him on for the entire game!
Reloading with Blackburn and WBA double around 2.75/1.
Reading seem to be in a bit of a mess and are struggling for numbers, losing 4-0 to Rotherham is a bad sign! While Blackburn have started strongly and are scoring goals.
WBA have impressed me despite not picking up many points, and are probably my tip for the league at this stage, Wallace a huge signing for them and creates so much. Think Grant is out injured but they should still have enough here.

Hi everyone! The first week of Fantasy Premier League action is now done and dusted. It's @StevenKing with his team warning hazchem who takes the early lead after deciding to captain Mohamed Salah. Unlike a lot of others, he still wracked up 89 points without Erling Haaland in his team. Just an all-round strong performance from his players with only Luis Diaz failing to get above the obligatory 2 points.
Over the coming weeks, I will aim to post the top 15 overall and the top 15 for the month so far. Doing both of those obviously won't be necessary for August because we're in the first month but will be needed from September onwards so we can keep track of who is in the hunt overall and for the monthly prizes. I'll also give a shout out to the highest scorer each week and a few words of disgrace for the worst scorer each week just to keep us all on our toes!
Feel free to post any chat or banter between each other ahead of week 2 in here such as transfer ideas or any questions you might have about how the game is played.
On a final note, this week's name of shame is Carol Haynes aka @Wild Spirit whose team, The Wild Ones, could only muster 28 points this week! Unlucky, Carol. It's far from the worst team selection we've seen (although the killer was probably having captain Connor Coady on the bench!) so hopefully those players can pull their socks up for you next week!

    Liverpool vs Crystal Palace
The Monday night game in the Premier League will see Liverpool and Crystal Palace go head-to-head in an 8pm BST kick-off from Anfield. Both teams failed to win their opening league game of the season last weekend so that adds further pressure on them to get 3 points in this one. The odds are stacked in favour of the home team here but can the visitors spring a shock result?
Liverpool were taken by surprise by Fulham's pressing display last week in the 2-2 draw away to the newly promoted London club but Jurgen Klopp's men will be keen to get back to winning ways here and avoid dropping further off the fast pace set by Manchester City and Arsenal after two games. The Reds came from behind twice to snatch a point at Craven Cottage and despite the disappointment of dropping 2 points the fans will be delighted to have seen Mohamed Salah and new signing Darwin Nunez both get on the score sheet. The bad news is that central midfielder Thiago Alcantara has been ruled out with injury and that is a big blow. The statistics are in favour of the Merseysiders though with the club remaining unbeaten during 2022. The team have also won their opening home league game for the last 9 seasons.
Crystal Palace suffered the new wrath of a rejuvenated Arsenal on the opening day of action with the Eagles going down to a 2-0 loss. Patrick Vieira won plaudits last season for the way he evolved the team after the Roy Hodgson tenure. Unfortunately, a big player from last season in Conor Gallagher is no longer with the club after returning to his parent club Chelsea. Palace did end up having a very decent record on Monday nights in the league last season having gone unbeaten in all 5 of their Premier League matches played on that day. Vieira will likely be without James Tomkins and James McArthur for this game but there is a chance that attacking midfielder Michael Olise could return to the match day squad having been back in training this week.
The name of Crystal Palace may well be etched in the nightmares of Liverpool fans after the notorious 3-3 draw at Selhurst Park back in 2014 that effectively ended Liverpool's title hopes that season but Palace are currently on a 10 game losing run against the Reds in the league. However, it's worth noting that Klopp's first competitive defeat as Liverpool manager was a 2-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace back in 2015. I can't see that score happening here. Liverpool are a wounded animal and they could wreak havoc here against a Palace team who didn't look up to their standards of last season in their opening game.

    Nottingham Forest vs West Ham
The Premier League offers two matches on Sunday afternoon with the first game up being the 2pm BST kick-off between newly promoted Nottingham Forest and West Ham from the City Ground. Both teams came away from their respective opening weekend matches with defeats and failing to even score a goal last week so they'll be hoping to change that in this game.
Nottingham Forest have spent big this summer to prepare for their first season in the top flight since 1999. Those additions clearly weren't enough against Newcastle away in their opening league game as the Magpies took a comfortable 2-0 win. Steve Cooper has moved swiftly to further strengthen his team with the shrewd signings of Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis and former West Ham and Crystal Palace central midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate. The Tricky Trees will feel this is a game where they can potentially get their first 3 points of the season. The opposition may be tough but Forest managed to pull off some big scalps at home in the FA Cup over recent against the likes of Arsenal and Leicester. Defence is a concern for Cooper with centre backs Scott McKenna and Steve Cook both unlikely to be involved. Cooper will also want to address the fact his team failed to even have a shot on goal last week. Is it worth backing Jesse Lingard to score any time against the team he bagged 9 goals in 16 matches for when on loan?
West Ham come into this game wanting to kick start their season after the unsurprising 2-0 loss at home to reigning champions Manchester City last weekend. David Moyes saw his team experience the devastating ability of striker Erling Haaland but this will feel like a game they can win. The Hammers are likely to have new signing duo of Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet available for this game. The bad news is that West Ham have lost 6 of their last 8 matches across all competitions. Have the wheels come off the Moyes express? However, each of the 7 away victories West Ham picked up last season came against teams that finished in the bottom half of the table. The East Londoners have also won 10 of their last 14 top flight league games against newly promoted teams. There could be another any time scorer pick in the form of Michail Antonio who scored 16 goals in 50 appearances for Forest before he moved to West Ham.
Funnily enough, this is the first time that these two teams have met since an encounter in the FA Cup back in 2014. Who won that? Well, surprisingly, it was a resounding 5-0 victory for Nottingham Forest. It's perhaps more appropriate to read that Forest have managed just 2 wins in their last 21 league meetings with West Ham. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nottingham Forest squeeze a point out of this one. A first Premier League home game since 1999 will be a massive occasion on the banks of the River Trent. It's going to be a cracker so I'm going to back a draw at least for the home team.
