Interesting little handicap to kick off the new year and I've always liked Upsilon Bleu and think he should have won more races. A very solid performer at 2m but has been further so this 2m 4f at Musselburgh should be fine. Comes here after finishing 5th to the ill-fated Sir Valentino at Ascot, he wasnt beaten far that day and a repeat of that will do here.

With Kelso I cant find much value around for tomorrow. I fancy the three favourites for the big races on Sunday and of those i strongly fancy Top Notch for the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon.
A very reliable type who has proved a better horse since going over fences. Some say he is just a tad below top class but seems to pay his way alright. He won well at Ascot last time and seems to suit this intermediate trip well. He's not much of a price but I cant fancy anything that is to be honest.

I'm not a great fan of backing horses with penalties but Cougar Kid was quite impressive at Hereford last time out beating Schnabel by 7 lengths. The form has been confirmed and a 7lb penalty shouldnt stop the 6yo from following ip in this sort of company. Jockey Brodie Hampson always rides the gelding so thats another plus.

Have to agree about Southwell, not sure what it is about the fibresand surface, horses finish knackered and the finishing distances are like 3m chases should be. Its very difficult to work out ratings where the gaps are so exaggerated compared to the OR's. 
If you must bet there my advice would be to either follow the tracks top trainers or just back horses with course form.

Yes I agree I think Razin he'll looks a fab ew bet today ....I just won't back at south well any more ...too many shock results there so I'm avoiding now but still decent looking today if he holds out 6f

The obvious 2 are my pick and Jers Girl, both high quality horses. I watched all the videos of the last 6 races last night of both of these horses. I feel my pick can stay on stronger out of the 2 of them and it’s still on a winnable mark.

These two are a little clear here .....Saunter is the form horse ..has good form over 12f so shoukd run a big race ...the 9/1 ew looks very decent value .....Chelsea lad is a dark horse ....would have a much higher rating had this been 10f so unknown quantity tackling 12f hence been downgrade ...but if he gets it then the 22/1 woukd be huge !! ....worth a speculative ew bet

Very interesting race ...one of those rare ones you look at and think ...can it ? ....Lady of the lamp is fav here around 3/1 and will run a big race as an improving youngster and bottom weight too but poppy in the wind is ....66/1 ?? No its not a mirage I nearly fainted wen i saw the price ....no guarntee will run best race but I expected around 12/1 so 66/1 is just way out there ...,paddyp have made a major mistake with that one ....,of the others samamardi around 6/1 should be on the premises too so ill go ew on both and hope for the upset of the century !! You never know .....
