Fader got a reaction from vikki37 in World Championships (inc Qualifiers)
One bet for me tonight is to stick with my pre-event pick of Oliver Lines. He faces Dominic Dale in Round 2 of qualification. He comes into this after beating Emery 6-1. Emery hit a century in his only frame, whilst Lines hit 3 centuries, a 93 and a 78. Dale holds a good head-to-head against Lines, having beaten him 3 times out of 3. However, Dale hasn't been in good form. Lost 4-0 to Pengfei 1st round at the Gibraltar Open. 4-1 first round defeat at the Welsh Open and both those results coming after a 5-0 whitewash from Ding in the Last 16 of the German Masters.
4pts O.Lines to beat D.Dale 13/8 bet365

Fader got a reaction from vikki37 in Premier League Darts
To think Aspinall and Durrant made the final last year and yet both are near the bottom of the betting. Neither have good form atall. Aspinall has changed his darts and Durrant went off the rails before the Prem League win really. His only saving grace was the ridiculously good doubling that he showed. I think Aspinall wins this. I've seen some real poor efforts from Durrant recently and although he will take a few legs on his doubling alone, if Aspinall hits a half decent average, this win could ignite him.
In the second match, there is every chance that Rob Cross beats De Sousa. De Sousa was on fire a few months back but I think Cross keeps him honest here and may nick it. I think Wright beats Clayton. I think if this was a few nights in, it could be different. I think this is all new for Clayton and he will be desperate to impress. Wright has been there and done it. Wade Vs Anderson could go anyway really but with me taking a punt on Wade as an outsider, I would rather leave that to an outsider accy. MVG wins for me,
3pts Wright and MVG both to win and hit atleast 2 180s in their matches 6/1 skybet
2pts Aspinall, Wright & MVG to win 7/1 paddypower
1pt Cross, Wade & Wright to win 15/1 paddypower
0.5pts accy - Aspinall, Cross, Wade, Wright, MVG all to win 50/1 paddypower

Tonight is the start of the Premier League, it's new "Covid" format, which changes things alot. Before, form was hard to gauge because we had matches each week. This week, we will have matches everyday and so anybody in abit of form this week could catch fire.
This week will be "Phase 1" with "judgement night" being on the 22nd April. We will then lose the bottom 2 and go into "Phase 2" a fortnight later. The semi-finals and finals will be played May 28th.
In terms of outright winners, it's so different without the mass crowds that you're probably better off favouring with the players who have done well at the Super Series. I think Peter Wright is the man to beat at the moment, but Johnny Clayton has put in some real good performances over the last few months. De Sousa started well but has dropped in his level recently.
** Gerwyn Price has been withdrawn with a positive Covid test and James Wade will take his place **
I'm going with Peter Wright as my main bet. I like Clayton but you can't be having him at just 7/1. I'll take a punt on James Wade. We see all the time a player getting a free pass into an event and taking an opportunity and I can see Wadey getting into phase 2 atleast.
5pts P.Wright to win Premier League 4/1 paddypower
2pts E/W J.Wade to win Premier League 16/1 bet365

Hard one to take that. 3 of the bets make the semi-final and the only one who didn't, wins ofcourse. Williams was 2-0 up on Wilson and so was Higgins in the semi-final.
each way placing at 33/1 (16.5/1 winner)

The qualifiers for the big one get going tomorrow. Players have to get through 4 rounds of snooker before they can have the chance, in Round 1, against the "big boys"
One of the stand out ties and infact THE stand out tie, must be Hendry taking on Jimmy White.
Here are my fancies to qualify :

1pt J.Cahill to qualify section 12 18/1 unibet

This continues tomorrow.
The final group, which is played Tuesday/Wednesday, with the finals being played Thursday/Friday. Current finals group :
Yuelong
Dott
Higgins
Trump
K.Wilson
Carter
- FINAL NAME -
Tomorrow's group :
Maflin
Bingtao
Robertson
Perry
Williams
Gilbert
McGill
barring any withdrawals. I'm not sure if Robertson will bother with this, for example. Maflin, too, hasn't played for a long, long time.
I haven't seen any markets up yet for the group winner and that's most likely because we will indeed see some change. However, after Mark Williams just won a similar event, in the WST Pro Series, I am surpised that you can get him at 33/1 to win the event. This isn't an amazing group and it's one that he will be favourite to win if Robertson pulls out. If he does indeed win it then that 33/1 will go to single figures
1pt e/w M.Williams to win Championship League 33/1 betfair

Robertson wins with ease, really. +5pts tonight but -3.5pts for the event, for me. I'm never too excited about betting on these events, where it's the cream of the crop in a small field. Onto the Championship League and the Worlds, next month.

The fight lasted less time than I thought but the towel went in for the 6/1

Fader got a reaction from vikki37 in Whyte Vs Povetkin
The rematch is tonight. Whyte was all over Povetkin in the first fight, knocking him down a couple of times, before a big uppercut from Povetkin won him the fight. I think, aslong as Whyte can guard against that, he should win this one.
4pts Whyte in rounds 7-12 9/4 skybet
2pts Whyte in rounds 9-12 11/2 skybet
1pt Povetkin corner to throw in the towel to end the fight 6/1

The second semi-final today to see who will faces Robertson, in the final. I was tempted to go with Hawkins, because I think Ronnie played well in the first match, but nothing like his best. Trump was very poor in his match, but I think Hawkins is hitting abit of good form. Ronnie has a terrific record against Barry though and although there hasn't been a huge amount of century hitting, I'm going to go with both to hit 2 centuries.
2pts Each player to make 2 centuries or more 7/2 paddypower

Looks like Williams overperforms when you don't back him?
Carter was a good result for you @ 10/1 though.

Selby runs away with it. Wilson looked poor. The 5/2 comes in but for the first time this season, Wilson goes out of a tournament without a century. Today we've got Judd Vs Bazza Hawkins and I think Hawkins is abit of value. Hawkins has always been decent against Trump and whilst he didn't beat him last time out, he led 5-1 before losing 6-5, at the German Masters. In matches that matter (ignoring Championship League) it's been 6-5, 6-5, 5-4 all to Trump in the last 3. It wouldn't suprise me if we saw Barry take a lead again here and it end up going to a final frame once more. Either way, I think the value is with Barry
4pts B.Hawkins (+2.5 frames) to beat J.Trump 7/4 bet365

come on now, Barry isn't an amateur. 40s is too big for this.

Yeah, tell me about it. Not only did I miss out on the first pot, but 9-5 up and Jack had hit just one break over 80 (a fluke red) and ofcourse he goes and hits a 129, to have highest break by 8pts. You just knew the moment Robertson missed the red, in that frame. Perhaps I was too greedy, as I knew Robbo would win easy and my initial thoughts were handicap betting. odds on for -3.5 was stingy though.
Selby Vs Wilson today then. Very boring match and one that I think Selby wins. I've been looking for some value. If you take away events like the Championship league then Selby leads the head-to-head between these two 5-0 and with the CL, 13-3. However, we can probably ignore anything pre-2019 as Kyren Wilson wasn't the same player back then and couldn't string anything over 80. 7 matches since 2019 and it's 5-2 Selby, but both wins for Kyren were the Championship League.
I think much like Jack Lisowski and Neil Robertson, Selby has abit of a voodoo on Kyren Wilson and I think he comes out on top. Part of me wants to go for frames here, but I think we'll see a few centuries and a Selby win (around 10-6 / 10-7)
5pts Each player to make a century break and over 15.5 frames 11/10 paddypower
------------------------------------------------
2pts M.Selby to have highest break, most 50 breaks and win 5/2 paddypower
2pts 5 or more centuries 5/2 paddypower
1.5pts M.Selby and J.Trump both to win 10-7, 10-8 or 10-9 8/1 paddypower
Tour bets -9pts

No joy lastnight. I find it hard to fathom there being 18 frames of snooker between Ronnie and Higgins and only 3 centuries. Higgins wasn't very good though, on the whole. Far too many mistakes and left his best play too late. I think Ronnie likes to have little excuses regarding his cue and such as a back up if he gets turned over again. He had similar kind of excuses when Trump took him to the cleaners. He played OK, Ronnie. Good enough to beat a vast majority.
Today, we have an in-form Jack Lisowski take on Neil Robertson. I would have thought many people out there would be looking at Lisowski here. Makes sense, he has much better form coming into this. Robertson has gone out early in the last couple of tournaments really whilst Jack has got to multiple finals and been on fire. Difference is, this event is pretty big. Higgins said yesterday it was now the 2nd most important event and ranking points wise and money wise, it is.
I can see Robertson putting on a show here, whilst I can also see Jack being very nervous. I hate betting on "to pot first ball" but I think Robertson hits a couple centuries and I think he wins so in my mind I'm getting 3/1 on Robertson potting first.
2pts N.Robertson to pot the first ball, most centuries and win 3/1 paddypower
2.5pts N.Robertson highest break, most 50 or more breaks and win 6/5 paddypower
