Was good to nick a profit in midweek after last Saturday's losses and given how tricky Tuesday night's can be as well. It is a big weekend in the FA Trophy for those who have joined me in backing Billericay and Leyton Orient and hopefully both will be in Monday's semi-final draw. I have 5 bets for Saturday.
    Maidstone v Tranmere
I thought Tranmere were going to make a massive statement on Tuesday in beating top of the table Macclesfield. Instead it was the same old story in that they weren't clinical enough when they were dominating and they ended up losing 4-1. I think they need a minor miracle to win the title now, but given the National League this season nothing would surprise me. Anyway they certainly need to win this and they look a good bet to do so. Granted they have only won 4 away games all season and that hasn't helped their position, but on the other-hand they have only lost once in their last 7 away games. Mickey Mellon can't play for draws anymore and he will have to be positive here to go for the 3 points. That defeat on Saturday was also their first since New Years Day. Maidstone haven't won for 15 league matches now and they have only won 3 games at home all season. They lost at home to Barrow last Saturday and they hadn't won since December 23rd prior to that victory. The 5/4 about an away win with William Hill looks a big price to me.
    Leamington v Blyth Spartans
Blyth had gone through a dip in form and I opposed them with Brackley who were in form a couple of weeks ago only for Blyth to win 3-0! Blyth have won their two games since by the same scoreline and they have really found their form again as they look to cement a place in the play-offs. Leamington are in a battle at the other end of the table. They have only won twice in their last 10 games, one of which was against Boston last week, but by all accounts it was a game low on quality. Blyth really should have enough to see off their hosts and 6/5 with Marathon looks a fair price to me.
    Southport v Curzon
Kevin Davies has finally got his Southport side in good form and they are worth keeping an eye in regards to next season as they seem to be backing him well with cash. They have only lost twice in their last 8 games and they were to a FCUM side who rarely lose at home and a Kidderminster side who were on a long unbeaten run. I think they can pick up a 4th home league win on the bounce as they host the team one place below them in the table. Curzon had a superb result against York last week beating them 4-1, but I just wonder if they will be able to replicate that performance here especially as they have won just 3 away all season. Southport are building a decent looking side and Marathon's 21/20 is just the right side of value for me.
Hemel Hempstead v Havant & Waterlooville.
Hemel and St Albans were my two ante-post bets in the National League South this season and they have both been very frustrating. Every time it looks like they are going to play a part in the title battle they drop silly points as St Albans did last week. Hemel lost two games on the bounce including a 4-1 defeat to Oxford City, before blowing the lead 3 times against Chelmsford last weekend. That was obviously a better performance, but Havant are in 2nd and have 3 games in hand over Dartford at the top. As I have mentioned before their away form has been superb this season and reads won 10 drawn 2 and lost 2. They shouldn't be as big as 2/1 for this and that is well worth taking.
    Barwell v Workington
I don't dip into the Evo-Stik Nothern Premier all that often, but this game appeals. The home side are in great form at the moment and are 8 games unbeaten now having won 5 of them, including a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture. Workington on the other-hand have lost their last 4 league games on the bounce and any hope of a play-off place seems to have gone now. The home side are 6/5 with Marathon and that looks a fair price to me given the form of these two sides at the moment.
    Tranmere 2pts @ 5/4 with William Hill
    Blyth Spartans 2pts @ 6/5 with Marathon
    Southport 2pts @ 21/20 with Marathon
    Havant & Waterlooville 1pt @ 2/1 with Marathon
    Barwell 1pt @ 6/5 with Marathon

I know quite a few who follow me probably only backed Aldershot last week and at least they landed the gamble fairly comfortably. The others all lost so overall it was a small loss on the day. Just the 4 bets for this week with some pretty healthy prices amongst them.
    Chester v Eastleigh
Eastleigh lost their first game since Andy Hessenthaler took over last week, but Boreham Wood are in really good form themselves at the moment so there wasn't too much lost. This game looks a much easier game on paper as Chester's off the field problems are clearly having a big effect on the pitch as they continue to struggle. They have only won once in their last 9 games and there has even been speculation that boss Marcus Bignot could be getting the sack after the loss at Woking last weekend. He is still in charge at the moment and I must admit given the issues I am not sure anyone else would do any better at the moment. Bet365 are 31/20 about an away win and that for me is too big as I would make the away side clear favourites to get back to winning ways.
    Hartlepool v Woking
If things are bad for Chester then they are even worse for Hartlepool. The tax bill has been paid off, but they still need more money and it is hard to see it coming from anywhere. They could enter administration at any stage and I think in some ways they would be better off going down and trying to sort things out at a cheaper level. The other big thing is they are currently under a transfer embargo and it was mentioned they only had 12 senior players available ahead of the Barrow game which ended up being called off last weekend. They may get some injured players back, but regardless it is a weaker squad at the moment than they one that started the season. Woking's away form is pretty shocking as they haven't won in their last 8 on the road, but given how Barrow were so well backed ahead of the game last Saturday, I am a bit surprised Woking are as big as they are here. Woking were looking over their shoulders, but two wins and a draw in their last 3 matches looked to have stopped any relegation fears now. The value is definitely with the away side and I can't believe they are as big as 49/20 (Marathon) to win this.
    Sutton v Wrexham
Sutton continue to head the betting for the title, but it makes little sense why they are. The two teams above them both have a game in hand over them and although they are a point in front of Tranmere and have played one game less than them, they aren't as good as Tranmere as was proven when Tranmere ran out comfortable victors against them just before Christmas. Plenty has been said about their 3g pitch this season as they will have to put a grass pitch back down should they gain promotion to the Football League, but the strange thing is they have got more points on their travels this season. They got a point against Barrow on Tuesday night which was hardly a great result and they play a Wrexham team one point above them. This is a big game for the away side because win this and they go 4 points clear of their hosts who do have a game in hand, but they lose and all of a sudden it becomes 2 points behind them and that game in hand. Wrexham are unbeaten in 9 league games although they have drawn 6 and won only 3 of them. It is those draws that might end up costing them the title and I can fully understand why some might want the draw onside here, but for me the 100/30 about an away win is way overpriced and I am happy to take that as they shouldn't be any bigger than 7/4 for me.
    Welling v St Albans
I watched Welling last week play my side Gloucester City and I thought City more than deserved the victory despite the winner only coming in injury time. Welling's goals were a deflected effort and a penalty and Gloucester just seemed to want it that bit more and they played some good stuff. I was a bit surprised Welling were as poor as they were to be honest because they came into the game on the back of three victories. St Albans had their game called off last week and obviously what I wrote about them there still rings true this weekend. If Welling play like they did last Saturday then St Albans should be winning this game and as I said last week it is crucial for their title bid if they can back up that impressive Dartford victory. Marathon go a shade over 2/1 and I think that is a big price.
    Eastleigh 2pts
    Woking 1pt
    Wrexham 1pt
    St Albans 2pts

Weather doesn’t sound the best back in the uk so suspect games will be lost. I have just the two bets. Going to go with whitehawk again after putting 4 past Eastbourne. Bognor in the relegation zone as well and hard to make the home side as big as they are with marathon. The other bet is hitchin who are on a good run of form who travel to a Banbury side who are struggling at the moment especially at home where their form is awful. Again marathon are biggest.

A small loss to end 2017, but it has been a hugely successful calendar year and hopefully 2018 will be just as good. The weather looks better so hopefully that shouldn't be an issue and I have 8 bets in total.
    AFC Fylde v Tranmere
Tranmere are really finding their feet now and are looming large as they continue their rise up the table. They are the best side in the division for me and finally everything is clicking and they are looking really impressive. They win their game in hand and they would be in 2nd place behind Macclesfield. They have now won 5 on the bounce in the league and have just one defeat in their last 10 league matches. Now their away form has been a bit in and out, but they only played one away league game in December and that was the impressive 3-1 win at Sutton. Prior to that they drew 2-2 against Macclesfield when the home side equalised in injury time. Having put 4 past Fylde on Boxing Day you would be hopeful they can get another 3 points. The home side got a good win on Saturday coming from a goal down against Maidenhead and they have lost just two home league games all season. Having said that prior to playing Ebbsfleet on December 23rd their last home league game was November 18th. Micky Mellon said Fylde made it hard for them on Boxing Day despite the scoreline and I am sure they will again, but I think they are value to keep the winning run going. Marathon have them at 6/4 to do so.
Dagenham & Redbridge v Leyton Orient
Sounds like Dagenham deserved a point against Ebbsfleet even if the equaliser did come late on. Even so I think what I wrote in that preview still holds true and I just can't get over the price on Orient here. They were really unfortunate to lose 1-0 to Bromley on Saturday having gone down to 10 men early on as they had numerous chances to at least get an equaliser. Justin Edinburgh has really improved them and as Boxing Day proved Orient look a play-off challenging side rather than a team near the relegation zone. After beating them 2-0 a week ago it makes little sense to have them at 7/2 (Marathon) to win this game. Granted playing over 80 minutes with over 10 men isn't ideal, but for me that is more than factored into the price.
    Solihull Moors v Maidenhead
The home side have definitely improved since Mark Yates took over and it was a close game between these two sides which Maidenhead won 1-0. Solihull then got a cracking victory at Barrow on Saturday and on the back of that I think they can pick up another 3 points here. As mentioned above Maidenhead blew a 1-0 lead on Saturday to Fylde and as their record suggests they are a very in and out side. With home advantage I am surprised Moors are 41/20 to win this because I would probably just about make them favs.
    Bromley v Ebbsfleet
This is the live game on Monday and it does seem a bit of an odd pick although I am hoping the away side edge it. Granted their away form hasn't been the best and they have picked up just 2 points in their last 5 away games, but again as mentioned above that is a bit misleading because the Fylde game was their only away league game last month and I think they are playing better than they were in November. Bromley still don't really convince me and they look a mid-table side. As mentioned above they had luck on their side against Orient in that win and I can't make them such strong favs to win this. Ebbsfleet look decent value at Bet 365s 21/10.
    Alfreton v Stockport
Now Stockport have only won two away league games all season, but they have only lost one of their last five on their travels which was a 3-2 defeat a Brackley. Travelling to Alfreton is going to be a very different story as they have lost their last 5 home league games and conceded 13 times in those games. That Brackley defeat is Stockport's only loss in their last 7 league games whereas Alfreton have lost 7 of their last 8 league games which tells its own story. At 143/100  with Marathon Stockport look a nice price.
Bognor Regis v Havant & Waterlooville
These two teams drew 0-0 on Boxing Day, but as regular followers will know Havant's away form is way better than their home form. It reads won 8, drawn 2 and lost just 1. They are unbeaten in 10 league games now as well and I fancy them to win this. Bognor have drawn their last 3 games, but they have only won once in their last 10 and they haven't won in their last 9 home matches. The vast majority of bookies are either odds on or evens about an away win which makes Marathon's 117/100 a real stand out bet.
    Eastbourne v Whitehawk
I have to back Whitehawk again as I did on Boxing Day as they were all over Eastbourne, but just couldn't score and they were defeated 1-0 and the Eastbourne goal was a penalty. I am clearly not the only person who thinks Whitehawk might get their first win of the season as they have been backed, but they are still value for me at Marathon's 73/20 as there is nowhere near the gap in class between these two sides as the betting suggests, in fact I would have them pretty much the same price.
    Merstham v Worthing
You never really know what you are going to get from the home side as prior to losing their last two games, they were unbeaten in 4, but prior to that they had lost 4. Losing 3-1 to Tooting on Saturday was a poor effort and I just have to back Worthing again. I know they only drew against Lowestoft, but they played well again and the fact remains they are making themselves very hard to beat at the moment. No way should they be 31/10 (BetVictor) to win this and they have to be backed.
    Tranmere 1.5pts @ 6/4 with Marathon
    Leyton Orient 1pt @ 7/2 with Marathon
    Solihull Moors 1pt @ 41/20 with Marathon
    Ebbsfleet 1pt @ 21/10 with Bet365

Boxing Day was a bit of a horror show, but hopefully we can end 2017 with a profit. I have 5 bets which will hopefully beat the weather.
    Ebbsfleet v Dagenham & Redbridge
For me Dagenham are a worse version of last season side. Last season they looked very very good at times, but then threw in some right stinkers. This season they have still looked a very good side on occasions, but less so and have thrown in more stinkers. I think they should still have enough for the play-offs, but they hardly look a title winning side to me. When they beat Chester 4-0 on the TV the other week, they were shocking in the first half and whilst they did improve in the 2nd for me the game told us more about how bad Chester are at the moment than how good Dagenham are. That victory was one of just 3 away wins this season and they have lost their last two league games and you can add in a FA Trophy defeat to Hereford as well. I always try and read the Racing Post non-league tips and I thought their opposition of Ebbsfleet on Boxing Day was a strange one which was mainly based on the fact they thought Bromley were a classier side. Quite why the write thought that I don't know because I would be very surprised if Ebbsfleet didn't finish above them come April and of course they ended up winning the game. Their home form this season has been superb winning 7 and losing just twice and they have won 5 of their last 6 at home. They are now unbeaten in 4 and have won 3 of those. I tipped them up for a top 7 finish at the start of the season and they are now just 2 points off the play-offs. They are favs, but I would have them as stronger favs than they are so the 159/100 with Marathon looks an appealing price.
    Billericay v Dulwich
Given how the pitch looked today I am not sure this game will go ahead, but if it does Dulwich are a value play. Billericay have been making hard work of wining their league games of late and they now face the 2nd best team in the league. I feel sorry for Dulwich because take Billericay out of things and they would be a very short price themselves to win the league. Obviously the home side should be favs, but Dulwich are too big. If you have a Betstars account they are biggest at 17/4, BetVictor are next at 21/5 and then if you are like me will have to take the 4/1 with Betfred.
    Harrow v Leatherhead
Now Leatherhead's away form has been shocking so far this season. They won their first away game against Kingstonian in their first away game of the season, but given Kingstonian play their home games at Leatherhead it doesn't really count. Their next away win came on Wednesday night when they beat Met Police. They look to be using some of their FA Cup money in strengthening the side and they have to believe that the play-offs are still a possibility. Getting some away wins would help and I think they are worth backing to win at Harrow. Harrow have lost 6 of their last 7 home games and have conceded 19 goals in those matches. Ironically their only win came against Met Police. Again Betstars are biggest at 21/10 but 2/1 is available at a few bookies including Betfred and Betway and that looks value for an away win.
    Kingstonian v Staines
I wanted to oppose the home side on Boxing Day and I guess this game is probably in doubt here, but Staines look well worth backing. The home side have just one point in their last 6 games and look like a side who need to be careful they don't get sucked into the relegation battle. Staines will be hoping to keep onto their play-off sport and have lost just twice in their last 9 league games. One of those was when they had no strikers available for their game against Billericay which not surprisingly they lost. They have also lost just one away match in their last 8 and they look the best bet of the day. Marathon go 11/10.
    Wothing v Lowestoft
This game is on a 3g pitch so will be on and I am going to stick with the home side. Based on the last 10 matches form guide Worthing are 7 which just shows how much of an improved side they are. Finally I got paid out for backing them on Boxing Day and hopefully will do again here. They have lost just 2 of their last 9 games and the Thurrock defeat a week ago is their only home lose in their last 6 and they really should have won that. Lowestoft are very hot and cold having won 4 and lost 6 in their last 10 league games. I think Worthing are playing better at the moment and am happy to back them again at the 8/5 with Betfred.
    Ebbsfleet 2pts @ 159/100 with Marathon
    Dulwich 1pt @ 17/4 with Betstars
    Leatherhead 1pt @ 21/10 with Betsars
    Staines 3pts @ 11/10 with Marathon
    Worthing 1pt @ 8/5 with Betfred

buga00 reacted to Darran in Non-League Predictions > Boxing Day
Boxing Day is obviously always a busy day of football and plenty of local derbys among the Non-League fixtures. I have 7 bets throughout the various leagues which will hopefully give the banks a nice boost after Christmas.
    Gateshead v Hartlepool
Hartlepool are in desperate form at the moment having lost 5 games on the bounce which includes a FA Trophy defeat to Workington. They even took the lead against Maidenhead on Saturday and still lost the game 2-1. The owners are looking to sell already so things aren't exactly rosy at the club at the moment. Gateshead are actually below them in the table although they have two games in hand. I thought it was a very good idea by themselves and Torquay to get their Saturday fixture out of the way earlier in the month so they will be more rested for this. Their recent home league form isn't all that strong having only won once in their last 6, but the 3 they have lost were all by a single goal and they have been playing well. This looks a good chance for them to get 3 points and the Evs at William Hill is big enough for me to get involved.
    Whitehawk v Eastbourne
I have to continue to oppose Eastbourne despite the fact they face a team who have yet to win a league game this season. Now I haven't take leave of my senses, but Whitehawk are getting pretty close to that first league win and they played well again at the weekend despite losing 4-2. I reckon Eastbourne are the best possible team they could be playing right now as I think they are probably the worst team in the division at the moment. That win against Gloucester the other week is the only time they haven't lost in their last 6 league games. Steve King continues to strengthen Whitehawk and they have beaten Chippenham in the FA Trophy so its not like they can't win games of football. I think they are a great value bet here at Marathon's 16/5 and Eastbourne look awful odds on shots whatever happens in the game.
    Harlow v Enfield
As mentioned the other week Enfield's away form is shocking. They have picked up just one win and one draw away from home this season and even in their last two games at home, where they are unbeaten, they have been fortunate not to lose their unbeaten record. Harlow might not be unbeaten at home, but otherwise their home and away records are like Enfield's. They also have just one win and one draw away from home, but at home they have won 6 and lost just 3 times. Also worth adding that in their last 7 home league games Billericay have been the only team to beat them. That one away win actually came on Saturday when beating Lowestoft 3-0 and that bodes well going into this game. I would have them shorter than the 151/100 available with Marathon.
    Kingstonian v Merstham
Kingstonian are the worst team in the division based on form at the moment having picked up just one point in their last 6 games. They seem in a state of flux at the moment and a bust Christmas period is hardly ideal for them at the moment. Merstham seem to have come out of the other side from a similar dreadful run of form. They were unbeaten in 4 prior to their defeat to Leiston a week ago and that included a draw at Billericay. They didn't play on Saturday so again come into this game that little bit fresher than their hosts who lost to Leatherhead 2-0 on Saturday. There is no reason for Merstham to be as big as 85/40 with BetVictor and it looks a good bet.
    Worthing v Burgess Hill Town
After Saturday I should probably give up backing Worthing given my record with them, but I think they are worth backing again here. They really should have won on Saturday and they host a Burgess Hill side who havn't won in 7 league games. Now they put in great shift to give Billericay a huge scare on Saturday, but I think that effort could leave its mark on the team which won't help them here. They weren't the first and won't be the last team to raise their game against Billericay this season. Their away form is shocking with just one win on the road in the league this season and at 6/4 with Marathon I have to give Worthing another go at trying to win a game when I have backed them.
    Merthyr v Hereford/Ashton v Stalybridge
Hereford and Ashton looks a cracking double. Obviously Merthyr's problems have been well documented and although their squad is clearly capable of decent performances as they did when only losing 1-0 to current table toppers Kings Lynn on Saturday. For me though Hereford are another step-up from Kings Lynn and althugh they looked at one stage like they might lose to Chesham on Saturday in the end they one comfortably. They have won 7 of their last 8 league games and in all they have won by at lest 2 clear goals and that is why I also think they are worth backing at odds against with Betway on the -1 handicap as you would expect them to win this fairly easily. Stalybridge have got just 1 point on their travels this season and have been hugely disappointing. Ashton are on the edge of the play-offs and are unbeaten in 7 league games. It would be one of the shocks of the day if they didn't win this and at 11/8 (Marathon) the double looks the best bet of the day,
Gateshead 2pts @ Evs William Hill
    Whitehawk 1pt @ 16/5 Marathon
    Harlow 2pts @ 151/100 Marathon
    Merstham 2pts @ 85/40 BetVictor
    Worthing 1pt @ 6/4 Marathon
    Ashton/Hereford 3pts double @ 11/8 Marathon
    Hereford -1 2.5pts @ 21/20 Betway

The last Saturday before Christmas and it would be great to tip up a few bets to try and get the celebrations off to a good start. Sadly as I allude to above I don't fancy a great deal this week and I only have a couple of bets, although one is a pretty strong one.
    Eastbourne v Havant & Waterlooville
I am going to oppose Eastbourne again here. Granted they made Braintree work hard for their 3 points a couple of weeks ago, but I still think they are struggling side. As I mentioned last week when talking about Havant's FA Trophy game against Billericay their away form is superb this season. St Albans are the only team to have hosted them and beaten them in the league this season. They did lose 3-1 to Billericay in the end last week, but they sounded pretty unlucky and it says plenty when the home sides goalkeeper got the man of the match award. I think Havant can bounce back and gain another 3 points on their travels and they look a good price at 13/10 with Marathon.
    Worthing v Thurrock
Having put Worthing up a couple of times in recent weeks it was annoying that they finally put their good performances into wins when I wasn't on them. They have won their last two and it was a cracking win at Folkestone in their last league game. Thurrock's away form is hopeless having won one and losing their other 8 away games. That includes a shocking 4-1 defeat at Tooting last weekend. Given that and Worthing's improvement of last I think the home side are well worth a bet at 11/8 with BetVictor.
    Havant 3pts
    Worthing 1.5pts
Hopefully everyone has a good Christmas and I will be back at some point on with all the Boxing Day bets as the action comes thick and fast between now and New Years Day.

It's a full non-league fixture schedule this weekend. It's a shame the bookies still aren't offering odds on Merthyr Town games. They grabbed a precious point in midweek! Bookies could have made a killing!
Anyway, what are you guys looking to bet on from these matches coming up this weekend?

So a small loss last week as Bromley were stunned by a 25 yard equaliser against Eastleigh which obviously would have seen us with a very nice profit if they had seen the game out. This week I have 5 bets in the various leagues, plus a couple of ante-post FA Trophy tips as well as a recommended bet if you are already on my ante-post bet in that competition.
    Bradford Park Avenue v Tamworth
The home side are having a very good season and a play-off place is certainly not beyond them if they can keep their form going during the 2nd half of the season. They have won their last 4 league games and at home on Salford have beaten them in their last 8 matches. Tamworth are struggling and have only won twice in their last 9 league matches. I would have BPA at odds on and they are with every bookie bar two and I would only recommend a single if you can take the 53/50 with Marathon about a home win. That is the right side of value for me, but I wouldn't want to go much shorter than that.
    Rushall Olympic v Whitby
The home side have really improved since Liam McDonald took over as manager and they have won 4 of their last 6 home games. They should have plenty of confidence coming into this as they have also won their last 2 matches. Their opponents are in a horrible run of form having not won in 11 now. These two are on the same points total, but the stats show that the home side are the ones going in the right direction up the table and they are the better side at the moment. The 13/10 with BetVictor about a home win looks appealing.
    Nantwich v Stalybridge Celtic
I am pretty happy with my ante-post bets in the Evo-Stik Premier this season on Warrington and Altrincham, who happen to play each other this weekend. The other team I put up was Stalybridge Celtic though and they have been really disappointing under Steve Burr. Their home form hasn't been that bad, but away from home they have been shocking having picked up just one point all season on the road. Nantwich are in good form at the moment having won 4 of their last 5 league games and I am happy to take 21/20 (Betfred/BetVictor/Marathon) on the home side improving that and giving Celtic another away defeat.
    Enfield v Dorking Wanderers
I must admit I hadn't noticed Enfield's stats this season until they were put up as a bet by LondonHibs against Lowestoft the other week. My concern that day was Enfield's awful away form and they duly lost as they have done their two away games since a 5-1 defeat at Folkestone and a 2-0 defeat at Leiston. Their away record reads won one, drawn one and lost 8 which tells its own story. On their own patch however it is the complete opposite story. They have the only unbeaten home record in the division having won 5 and drawn 4 in their nine home league games. Their last home game saw them beat top of the table Dulwich who were unbeaten on the road prior to that defeat. Dorking have only won twice in their last eight and have just two away wins all season. The 123/100 with Marathon looks big on a home win to me.
    Kings Lynn v Slough
The prices on this game make no sense whatsoever. In my view it has been priced up on the fact Kings Lynn are top and are currently 13 points clear of their rivals on Saturday. That doesn't really tell the whole story though as Slough have 6 games in hand so how are they 100/30 (Stan James/BetVictor) to win this. Both sides had poor results last Saturday, but I certainly think Kings Lynn's was much worse. They actually took the lead against Farnborough in the 1st minute, but then ended up losing 5-2. Slough lost 4-2 to Bishop's Stortford which was a surprise, but they created plenty of chances, had a man sent off in the 2nd off and ended up with 9 men after a player had to go off injured and they had used all their subs. I think Slough are a better side than the home team and that price is way bigger than I would make it.
Bradford Park Avenue 1pt @ 53/50 with Marathon
    Rushall Olympic 2pts @ 13/10 with BetVictor
    Nantwich 2pts @ 21/20 with Betfred/BetVictor/Marathon
    Enfield 2.5pts @ 123/100 with Marathon
    Slough 2pts @ 100/30 with Stan James/BetVictor
    FA Trophy
So first of all this is mainly a bet for those of you who took my advice and backed Billericay at 100/1 for the FA Trophy. Not surprisingly they are much shorter now, but I think now is the time to cover the bet especially as I think they have a very tricky tie at the weekend. They host a Havant side who are just 2 points off the top of the National League South table and have only lost once away from home all season. Hopefully the home side can keep the 100/1 dream alive, but Havant are as big as 12/5 with Skybet so it makes sense to cover that and the draw which is 29/10 at Marathon.
I am going to add a couple of National League teams to Billericay to win the Trophy. Leyton Orient are the first of them as I think they are going to show a big improvement under Justin Edinburgh. They were really impressive when beating Sutton 4-1 last weekend and that proved that after a week of a training the new manager was able to change the way they performed. He should be able to steer them clear of the relegation zone, but the play-offs already look out of reach so the Trophy looks a great chance to bring a bit of cheer to a set of fans who have had it very tough in recent seasons. They have a very winnable game at Harringey on Saturday and I can't see Edinburgh resting many if any of his first team because he will want to build on Saturday's win and like I say going to Wembley has to be a big target for him. Betway have them at 25/1 and that is worth taking.
Boreham Wood have proven yet again they are a side who are very hard to beat this season having lost just 5 league games this season and they are currently in the play-offs. I can't see them staying there, but I can see them going a long way in this competition as again it looks a good one for them to target. They have a reasonably tough game at Dartford on Saturday, but I think there is quite a big gap between the National League and the National League South this season so I would be hopeful of them progressing through that tie. Marathon have them at 28/1.
    Leyton Orient 0.75pts e/w @ 25/1 with Betway
    Boreham Wood 0.5pts e/w @ 28/1 with Marathon

So on the back of Eastbourne on Saturday and Folkestone on Tuesday we move onto the weekend where I have 3 bets.
    Eastleigh v Bromley
I think Richard Hill has lost the plot. He had already slagged off his players once this season and then he slagged off the fans, but this week he decided once again to lay into his players publicly. He basically said they weren't good enough and they were in a relegation scrap. Given the money some of the players must be on it is crazy they are doing so badly and I am not sure publicly slating the players is the best way to get an improved performance. I know I backed them against Halifax the other week, but that had as much to do with Halifax's poor form than anything else and they still managed to blow a 2 goal lead twice. I know they played top of the table Sutton last Saturday, but they were poor and should have lost by more than 2 goals to nil. That makes it 6 games without a win now. Bromley have been one of the surprise packages this season and are still under the radar really despite the fact they are in the play-off places. They have lost just twice in their last 10 league games and away from home they have won 4 out of their last 5 and the other was a draw at very much in form Boreham Wood. They should have beaten Dover last Saturday having been 2 up, but Dover equalised in injury time. I just don't understand how Bromley are as big as 9/4 (sportingbet) to win this. You have one team in the play-offs against one who are in a relegation battle. They look a cracking bet at the prices.
    Braintree v Eastbourne
Eastbourne had been in poor form prior to playing Gloucester last week and although they did win, by all accounts they looked a poor side and if Gloucester had been able to put away their chances (same old story) then Eastbourne wouldn't have left with the 3 points. Braintree are having a little wobble having only picked up 1 point in their last 3 games, but they have played good in form teams and that certainly isn't the case on Saturday. Eastbourne have conceded 13 goals in their last 4 league games and as mentioned last week they need penalties to see off Royston in the FA Trophy. Long term followers will know I don't put odds on shots up all that often, but I do think Marathon's 89/100 offers plenty of value for it to be a bet.
    Poole v Weston-Super-Mare
Weston will be disappointed to lose Dayle Grubb although it is surprising he hasn't been picked up before. The good news is he doesn't join Forest Green until January so he will be playing here. They lost the battle of the in form teams last week when losing 2-1 to Hampton, but prior to that they had lost just one in nine league games and won their last 4. They are unbeaten in 6 away league games although they drew the first 4 of those, but then have beaten East Thurrock and Braintree the later especially being a good win. I haven't written about Poole for a while, but they are still struggling and they have won just one league game in their last 7. Betfred, Marathon and Stan James all have the away win priced up at 8/5 and there is enough in that price to get involved.
    Bromley 3pts @ 9/4 with Sportingbet
    Braintree 4pts @ 89/100 with Marathon
    Weston-Super-Mare 1pt @ 8/5 with Marathon

So obviously the price has long gone on Eastbourne and hopefully the can do the business although it will be the most depressing winning bet I will have ever placed. It would be typical of my club though if we go and get some sort of result. I think as things stand Eastbourne are no longer value, but with all that has gone on at Gloucester this week they will see this as a great chance to pick up a much needed 3 points.
I was considering a handful of sides in the National League, but in the end have left it alone and I only have one other bet.
    Burgess Hill v Margate
The away side are now unbeaten in 6 league games and have won their last 4. They seem to have really found their form of late and I think odds against is a big price to beat a struggling Burgess Hill. They have only picked up 1 point in their last 4 games and have conceded 15 goals in the process.
    Margate 2.5pts @ 101/100 with Marathon

It was always going to happen at some point, but Tuesday was a complete right off. Leatherhead going down to 9 men after about 15 minutes summed up the evening and nothing really went right from there on. It looked like Slough were going to at least give us some sort of return, but they gifted Banbury a lat equaliser. Still to get to the end of November and that be the first total blank of the season is decent going and hopefully the profits will return on Saturday.   Aldershot v Wrexham
Wrexham keep getting under estimated by the bookies despite the fact they hit the top spot of the National League table for the first time on Tuesday night. The 1-0 over Solihull meant that they have only lost one league game in their last 16 matches and they have won 6 of their last ten. As I have mentioned before when writing about them, being able to defend and keep the goals out might well be enough to see them going close to the title despite lacking a striker. Chris Holroyd is their top scorer with just 6 goals which for a team that is top is staggering at this stage of the season. They have scored just 11 goals in their last ten games, but in those 6 wins in that time 4 have been 1-0, 1 was 2-0 and the other was 2-1. Despite them not scoring many they have only failed to score in two of those 10 games, show it really does show that they can get the crucial goal they need to win a game, because their defence is so solid. I added Wrexham to my ante-post bets a few weeks ago and Aldershot are one of my original picks. They are in decent enough form having lost just twice in their last 10, but on the other hand they have won just 2 of their last 6 home games, 3 of which they drew. I would be surprised if this was anything but a tight game which makes Wrexham's 3/1 with BetVictor too big as I wouldn't have them any bigger than 15/8.   Ebbsfleet v Hartlepool Hartlepool were the other team I added during the season and they have actually drifted since which is surprising as they are only 8 points behind Wrexham and have had a tough run of fixtures which they picked up a decent haul of points. I would say the only disappointment in their last 8 games was a defeat to Eastleigh so they are in good nick. They had a cracking 4-0 on Tuesday against Halifax and I think they are over priced to beat an Ebbsfleet side struggling for form. They have lost 4 of their last 7 league games and it was a disappointing defeat to Woking on Tuesday night. I just don't see how you can make the away side 66/25 (Marathon) to win this given the respective form of both sides at the moment.   Halifax v Easteligh This is probably the riskiest one of the three National League tips, but I certainly think there is value in the price on Eastleigh. Halifax have gone 9 games without a league win now and as mentioned above they were well and truly beaten on Tuesday. They will surely be in a relegation battle and they are clearly struggling at the moment. Now Eastleigh aren't doing that much better although they have won 2 of their last 7 and have managed to beat Hartlepool and Macclesfield in two of their last 5 away matches. Richard Hill has moaned about his players and his fans of late, but I liked the way they came from 2 down on Tuesday against Maidenhead with both goals coming in the last 6 minutes. They are hardly a mortgage job, but there the 56/25 with Marathon is too big and I think Eastleigh might just have a bit more upside going into this game.   Dulwich v Lowestoft After Leatherhead went down to 9 men it made things very easy for Lowestoft in the end, but this game should be very different matter entirely. Dulwich were my biggest ante-post bet in the betting without Billericay market and everything is going well at the moment. They are unbeaten since Hendon beat them with the last kick of the game, a run of 12 of which they have won 10. One of the draws was also against Hendon on Tuesday night where they got their own back and equalised with the last kick of the game. They should be more than capable of causing the weak Lowestoft defence all sorts of problems and they appeal at 7/5 (Betfred, Paddy Power) to overcome the -1 handicap.   Worthing v Harrow Worthing didn't quite land us the money last weekend, but they played well in a 1-1 draw against Leiston. It was a continuation of their good recent form and they will fancy their chances against a Harrow side who have lost 7 on the bounce now. BetVictor and Stan James both go 7/4 about a home win and I would actually make them favourites for the match.   Wrexham 1pt @ 3/1 with BetVictor Hartlepool 1pt @ 66/25 with Marathon Eastleigh 1pt @ 56/25 with Marathon Dulwich -1 2pts @ 7/5 with Betfred/Paddy Power Worthing 1pt @ 7/4 with BetVictor/Stan James

A lot of matches coming up this weekend with National League, Northern Premier League, Isthmian Premier Division, Southern League Premier, and FA Trophy games all scheduled. A few matches are missing including Merthyr Town's emotional home game against Dorchester at home. The Martyrs lost 13-1 last week having been forced to field their youth academy after 80% of the playing staff departed after a reduction to playing staff budget was confirmed. If you are betting on the game then don't expect Merthyr to get anything from it. Not a single first team player played in the defeat last weekend. The goalkeeper had only just turned 16 years of age. Most of the players haven't played a competitive game above academy level. An interim board has been put in place and the club are over half way to raising the funds needed to pay the next tax bill that will hopefully see them keep operating until the summer.

So last night didn't go to plant although it was great to watch Billericay lose and Tamplin throw his toys out of the pram. One tip one winner last Saturday and then both bets won on Tuesday night and FCUM had an amazing come back. From just one bet last weekend I have 7 teams that are worth an interest this weekend.
    Leyton Orient v Dover
Orient finally sacked Steve Davies this week which wasn't a big surprise given how bad their form has been in recent weeks. Going forward they don't look too bad at all, but time after time their defence lets them down massively and it was the case against Ebbsfleet in front of the TV cameras last Saturday. They have had key players injured in defence which hasn't helped, but I think it might take until the new manager comes in to sort their defensive issues out. Dover are surprising leaders and I would be even more surprised if they were still top come the end of April, but they are 9 games unbeaten now and crucially they are very solid at the back and have conceded just 5 on their travels all season. That's impressive and you would imagine they will get chances at the other end to score. I think they should really be favourites for this one so the fact they aren't makes them well worth backing.
    Bradford Park Avenue v Brackley
Given 2nd place Brackley's recent good form it might be surprising that I am putting up the home side, but I think BPA have been over priced. Their home form has been very strong and they have lost just once in their last 7 home league games. That was against top team Salford and even then it was only 2-1 in a game they more than held their own in. Brackley have won their last five, but they have been playing some of the lesser sides in the division and this game is much harder than their recent matches. The 3/1 on offer about a home win is way above what I would have it.
    Gainsborough Trinity v FCUM
I am going to continue backing FCUM after their fantastic win on Tuesday night. To come from 2 down to win it 3-2 was a huge effort and they were by all accounts superb in the 2nd half. Granted they have only won once away in the league all season, but they look an improved side since Greaves took over as caretaker manager and so I think that can be ignored to a certain extent. Trinity have won just 3 at home in the league all season although to be fair two of those were their last two home league games. We have to add to that though that they did lose 6-0 to Slough in the FA Cup.The away side look the value at over 2/1 to pick up another 3 points.
East Thurrock v Havant & Waterlooville
The home side were unbeatable at the start of the season, but now they can't win games of football. They haven't won in 7 league games now and they have lost their last 3 including a shocking effort at Bath last weekend when losing 4-0. They also conceded 4 in their previous game against Weston. They have also failed to win in their last 5 home league matches. Havant come into this in really good form and they have been superb away from home all season. Their only defeat came at St Albans and they beat top of the table Braintree in their penultimate away league match. Given they have won just two at home in the league it is clear they seem to be performing much better on their travels. Given East Thurrock's recent form you would be hopeful of them continuing that form on Saturday.
    Hungerford v Truro
Fair to say Truro have been the surprise package in the National League South so far this season and currently sit in 3rd position. They have lost just one of their last ten and had a superb 3-1 victory over Dartford last Saturday. Hungerford are struggling and have won just one of their last 9 league games and that came over bottom side Whitehawk. Truro should probably be nearly odds on for this game and you would expect them to be able to carry on their good form here.
    Lowestoft v Margate
Amazingly Lowestoft did manage to win last week although that was against the massively inconsistent Merstham. Just in case anyone thought they might be making progress again on the pitch they duly went and lost 3-0 to Thurrock on Tuesday night. Margate had a little wobble where they didn't win in 5 league games, but they drew 3 of them and the two losses are their only two in their last 10 games. Margate have the joint 2nd best away points tally in the Bostik Premier with 14 in 8 games and given they perform so well away I am confident they should be able to beat a Lowestoft side who have plenty of issues. They look the best bet of the weekend.
    Worthing v Leiston
Finally a bit more of a speculative bet in bottom side Worthing. Now they have won just two league games all season, but crucially they were their last two games. They were disappointingly beaten by Thame in the FA Trophy last weekend, but otherwise they look an improved side, indeed they have picked up 8 of their 9 points in their last 6 games. Leiston may be on 26 points, but they look in a right mess on the pitch on the moment. They have lost 4 of their last 5 games in the league and were hammered 4-1 by Dorking in the FA Trophy last Saturday, which just happen to be the last side they beat in the league. A bit more of a risky one, but I think the price offers value as Leiston are very low on confidence right now.
