I'm going to go with Yibing Wu to beat Diego Schwartmann at 4/11 typically with most bookmakers.
Short enough odds true but Diego has been a shadow of himself in 2023. Wu meanwhile has had some decent results of late, and made the semis in Dallas recently, before losing 6-4 in the final set to Fritz.

Van Veen one match from a 20/1 win and making SFs
Pietreczko though makes SF for a guarenteed 50/1 winner.nice work, shame I didn't see your follow up post in time so I only had your initial selections, but yeh Van Veen went close.
Also earlie ron Veenstra was in control vs Chisnall before getting beaten by a short head.
Shame de Decker played Van Veen the round before the quarters, little bit unlucky there, but anyway well done on Pietreczko anyway!

How many times have we picked Ross Smith. Ugh
Yup, and again he benefited from an opponent bottling it. From 6-5 up, Anderson really should have gone on to win after breaking Smith's throw. Instead he hands it right back to Smith next leg and pretty much threw in the towel after that.

6-5 up. 2 match darts for D8 and he hits 11!
ugh, soon as it went deciding leg, you knew. No bottle at all from Schindler.
Shocking indeed, three match darts, Smith didn't even play well but Schindler who was the better player overall I thought, manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory 🤦♂️

Schindler into the semis so we're guaranteed a payout anyway, nice one @Fader👌
Ha, just noticed we posted the same thing almost at exactly the same time! 😆

Saw Burnett beating Price, aside from his finishing, which is very good, Burnett is not all that great, Wright as usual these days was brilliant at times and shocking at other times, so inconsistent. Can't see Burnett going any further unless VdB doesn't show up.

I am thinking Murphy wins it , -1,5 frame odds are a bit too low but -2,5 is a bit risky so I am hesitating which to take
With the extra pressure on Rob, I'd say Murphy has to be the bet here imo.

Higgins wins his second match in a row 4-0. Playing some real nice stuff at the moment. Milkins got a good result against Selby, too.
Milkins and Selby both very up and down in their play tonight, some glaring misses, particularly from Selby who really has gone backwards of late. Superb century from Milkins to win it but he'll have to cut out the schoolboy errors in between his quality play if he wants to make the final stages.

Wakelin playing like an absolute tool. Just threw the 2nd frame away by trying an impossible swerve to give away a free ball. Absolutely brainless.
He's continued to play very underwhelming snooker but somehow is at 4-4, largely due to his opponent making almost as many sloppy errors as he. Whoever wins this (and I fancy Jiahui at this point) is going home soon unless they have a miraculous turnaround in form in the next match.

McGill didn't turn up tonight 😔
Only saw a few minutes of it near the end, when he went for that long range yellow I was thinking 'uh oh', sure enough he blazes it wide of the pocket, and the Chinese lad cleans up afterwards. Shambles of a performance from Anthony. Thankfully I didn't put the mortgage on him! 😁

I get that Djoker is the big favourite to win the title at this point but I can't be having Tommy Paul at 33/1 (with Paddy Power) to win the whole thing, particularly when there's a chance (small I admit) that Novak's injury flares up again. Small wager obviously (also as I have a bigger bet from earlier for Novak to win the title!)
😁

That is one godawful performance from Pegula 🤦♂️

As for the men's championships. I think picking the winner is quite easy. Whoever wins has to beat Djokovic. So go through the possibilities and se who could possibly do it.
1st section (Nadal, Medvedev and Tiafoe) is probably Medvedev and Tiafoe in quarters.
2nd section is probably between Sinner and Auger Aliasimme (Sinner for me).
3rd Section Djokovic probably plays Holger Rune, who gets past Rublev..
4th section is Fritz and Ruud in the quarters for me.
Nadal (No) . He looks tired and worn out. I don't think he gets to the quarter finals.
Auger-Aliasimme (No) Guy is very strong but his court craft and decision making is horrible.
Hurkacz (No) just a dull strange version of Thomas Berdych for me. Can't do it.
Ruud (No) decent but no spark to be able to trouble Djoko.
Zverev (No). Mentally not ready after his injury. 3 wins will be significant for him.
For me the winner (excluding Djokovic) has to come from Sinner, Tiafoe or Fritz. None of the others can beat him.
Good analysis mate. Personally I don't think Tiafoe is mentally strong enough to beat Djoker on the big stage, but I agree that he should be making the quarters.
Sinner always surprises me, for a guy who hasn't got the same kind of physique as most of the rest of the top tier, he still manages to compete well with them and against them for the most part.
Of the three, Fritz is the one who I think could challenge Novak, he's getting stronger every year and I expect he will win a few GSs over the next five years or so.
Still though, it's hard to look past the Serb, it'll take a serious performance from any of the aforementioned to overcome him.

... so I didn't watch the Bingham/Murphy match. Was Bingham really good or was Murphy utter dross? Makes you wonder how much practice Murphy is doing when he is commentating all the time, on the side.
I only saw the last frame and a half but Bingham seemed to be playing well and Murphy was dire in that final frame, a world away from the player that beat Robertson. Bingham is certainly playing with confidence again, good to see.

in the 10th after Hawkins hit a fluke on a red he tried to pot the black in a very very difficult spot, in any other situation he would have gone for a defensive snook never would he have tried to pot that black , you could see on his face he did it on purpose to give back the hand to Trump because he felt guilty of scoring that fluke red; and then lose the frame, and then lose the match, pathetic.
I missed the earlier fluke but I was also gobsmacked he tried that very difficult black at such a crucial point of the match. Trump got out of jail there and didn't look back after that.
-
I took the safer option of at least 2 centuries as even though Ronnie could easily hit several centuries in a match, he also has a tendency sometimes to get a little unfocused with his potting once he has the frame won.

That's the worst I've ever seen Wilson play. Absolutely shocking. Bingham was good in spells but also played dreadfully at times (moreso as he got closer to the finishing line), just less so than Wilson. His positional play wasn't great and his pots were often only sneaking in, I could see him losing in the next round tbh.

Should be a great final. I am still confident mvg wins in this form but if smith turns up again it could be close. If I wasn’t already on mvg I would be tempted to go for outside bet on smith but I will stick with my evens bet on mvg. Not sure what else to bet on for final apart from maybe fun bet on the 9 darter, also some double check outs to happen each set all small stakes.
nine darter 12/1
if any one to get a nine darter it’s these two.
double 16 check out each set 26/1
double 8 check out each set 100/1
mvg utilised this side of board well last night and was only the last set he never hit a double 16 and he did have an attempt at it.
double 20 check out each set 6/1
double 10 check out each set 40/1
both players like double tops and with especially smith ending up more often than not on double 10 I think worth a small punt.
Thanks for the tips, just wondering which bookie is offering these?
EDIT: Aha found it, it's skybet

Watching some of Craigie's match. He's so impetuous, takes on way too many difficult long pots, missing them more often than not. Walden is playing pretty well but he doesn't have to be amazing to win this as he just has to wait for Craigie to miss another difficult long pot, then Walden steps in and cleans up. Frustrating to watch such novice play from Craigie. He gave away that last frame to go 3-1 behind instead of 2-2.

Rydz back to 4-2, still a chance
