Trakai to beat St Johnstone, currently 21/10 at time of writing the Lithuanian side won 2-1 at St Johnstone last week they are 2nd in their league after 16 games and unbeaten in all competitions in their last 9. St Johnstone have not started their league season and lost their last friendly at the weekend 3-0 at home to Aberdeen. I cannot see why Trakai are this price as I doubt they will be resting players.

    Olimpija Ljubljana vs VPS Vaasa.

very generous line on offer here for Ljubljana imo, yes they lost last week away in Finland but vps scored early and literally had every man behind the ball desperately trying to hold out for the 1-0 win they will not be able to do that here in Ljubljana.

    -1 Asian Handicap @ 1.825 (on bet365) 4pts

Bangor City's game with Lyngby is being shown live on Welsh channel S4C so even though commentary will be in Welsh it should still be available to stream somewhere if you want to focus on that game. It should be a fascinating encounter. Bangor City are one of those sides that always have a giant-killing result in them.

Betway have priced up the National League South/North divisions and I suggest having a small bet on Spennymoor in the North at 100/1. They are massively overpriced and although I suspect the bet will lose I think they have the ability to be in and around the play-offs so for them to be the outsiders is just wrong.

Tough decision to be made indeed, to not bet included. I am very disappointed I lost one of my three favourites – Roma (2 remains Ajax and Anderlecht)

At first sight, without any closer  information, what to say?
Schalke has some problems with only few points over relegation zone and 2 games against 2 “colleagues”  just around the EL game against Ajax.
Ajax stays OK and has full power activated for the finish anyway just few points behind Feyenoord . If Ajax beat Feyenoord on 2nd April will also beat Shalke.
Anderlecht, another team on very good shape against a team that does not feel very well. But here the last word has KikoCy.  I will back Anderlecht anyway
We can say that Genk and Celta finished the problems in their leagues so all the attention is on CL.  A kind of  lottery in my opinion so if I will bet I will choose the better price.  Genk @6.00 is very good
I have no idea about Lyon-Besiktas but the odds 1.53  I do not like. Depends what I will find until middle of April I will  take my decision. Anyway 6.50 is huge. Lyon is not a super team at the moment  ( au contraire ) and  Besiktas is not a small nor easy team …

There's value in ebbsfleet minus two on the handicap at 2.25. Away side concede a lot and should be no match against a side still with a chance for top spot. I'm also tempted with forest green minus one at 2.20..they should win pretty comfortably especially at home.

3 bets for me. Happy to oppose Sutton away from home again although there are obviously on a 3g pitch this time and they were unlucky to lose at Aldershot on Saturday. Maidstone though have had a couple of weeks off so will be fresh and had found their form prior to their break so they are just about value. Lincoln are now odds on but I think they are still worth backing. Boreham Wood can't score goals (bar a freak 5-0 defeat of Dover) and Lincoln should have too much for them. Chester are in woeful form at the moment and they looked very low in confidence in a poor game against Eastleigh on Saturday which they ended up losing 1-0. Macclesfield will hopefully take their FA Trophy performances over Tranmere into this game.

Eastbourne-Welling o2.5 odds 1.71 for me. Not the best price, but getting the o2.5 instead of 3.0 is a big deal to me.
I was also mulling over goals in Halifax-Gainsborough, but the odds are set at o3.25 odds 2.21. I'd bite if the line on offer were o3. Considered Fylde-Stockport but feel this could be tight. Depends on Stockport's defense, as they are just 6-11 over/under this season away, the league's lowest ratio. Also thought about Poole-Truro...typically when there's an odds mismatch (Truro at 9.33?) there's a good chance of matches going over, but Poole play so many low-scoring matches I don't know if I have the stomach for praying for a third goal late for a push. 1-0 or 2-0 are definitely possible.

Can't find any value in the lower leagues, but agree with @Addpea on Lincoln and Sutton. Boreham wood are a poor team and lincoln should see them off, and i will always back whoever is playing sutton away. Also....
    Forest Green v Solihull Moors
Rovers are on fire of late, losing only twice in last 8 (away to dag & red and Gateshead) but won the other 6 scoring 17 goals in the process. Last 4 homw games were won: 3-0, 3-0, 4-3, and 2-0, and they have only had 1home match where they have failed to score. Solihulls last 2 matches were a 4-1 win and 3-3, and have failed to score in only 2 of their last 8 away games
    Forest Green & BTTS @ 2.88

And... today Nuneaton Town have lost their two best players in Joe Ironside: top scorer on 14 with 31 appearances (transfer to Kiddy Harriers), and Jordan Nicholson: second highest scorer with 8 in 19 games (recalled by home club Peterborough). So thats our team totally screwed for the season (not that it was going anywhere anyway), and i wonder why i support an ambitionless, mediocre team... oh yeah, because i live here. Ah the joys of being a non-league fan.....  At least we're playing Altrincham tonight, so we wont get hammered!
Bloody hell... bookies dont miss anything do they! Just checked the odds at skybet its now-

    Eastleigh v Barrow

Eastleigh continue to look poor and some of their defending against York last weekend was shambolic. Barrow are just struggling for a bit of consistency so far in 2017 and it is no doubt frustrating for Paul Cox that two of their 3 victories so far this year have come against Lincoln and then Tranmere on Tuesday night. So given they have beaten 2 of the top 3 sides he must be wondering why they are dropping points elsewhere. Their away form does worry me slightly and they have only won two of their last 10 away matches having drawn 5 of them. However, with Eastleigh looking so bad you have to hope Barrow take Tuesday night’s performance into this game and if they do the 13/8 (various) about them getting 3 points is a fair price.

    Woking v Boreham Wood

Boreham Wood are lucky they have picked up so many points earlier in the season because they have only picked up 7 in their last 10 matches and they have only won once (against Torquay) in their last 14 games. That win was away from home, but they have only picked up one more point on the road in their last 10 away games. Woking are having to rely on their home form to try and escape relegation and their only defeats in their last 9 home league games have been against Aldershot and Tranmere. Gary Hill was no doubt disappointed they lost away at North Ferriby last weekend, but they have only picked up 3 wins on the road and this looks a very winnable game for them. William Hill’s 29/20 about a home win is certainly value in my view.

    Welling v Poole

Poole are in superb form at the moment as they try and cement a play-off place (although their ground needs to improved if they are to be allowed to complete in them). They have only lost once in their last ten games and that defeat was against Ebbsfleet who are in the title battle with Maidenhead. Away from home they are unbeaten in their last 6 and as their game was called off last weekend they come into this match fresh which given the heavy pitches at the moment is a big plus. Welling have struggled since Jamie Day left and they were very poor when losing to Whitehawk last Saturday. Marathon are 63/50 about an away win and that is way bigger than anyone else at the time of writing. Even at the general 11/10 I think it is a fair price.

    Grantham v Ilkeston

I haven’t written about Ilkeston too much of late, but the farce off the pitch took another step-up this week as it was announced the players, who are full-time, have not been paid. They didn’t turn up to training on Thursday because they said they didn’t have enough money to pay for petrol to get there. Now that is hardly the best prep for a game especially given how bad they have been performing. Grantham are still bang in play-off contention and really should be able to at least cover the -1 handicap which is 6/5 with Stan James.

Agree with the Aldershot and Solihull picks, I might consider Sutton @ 2.05. Sutton must be buoyed by their away win at Torquay and are impressive at home, and Boreham Wood have 1 win in last 12 league games. Sutton will be focused on getting away from the relegation zone whilst Boreham Wood are comfortably mid-table. Might look into Nuneaton after our impressive (unexpected) win against Boston.

    Eastleigh v Aldershot
I really don't understand how the bookies have priced this game up like they have. You have a team who have only won one of their last 13 league games and have lost four of their last five, playing a team who are unbeaten in their last 9 league games and have won six of them. The team in bad form are 15th in the table and have 42 points, whilst the team in form are 6th on 57 points and are just 2 points of the play-offs. If I said one team was a best price of 5/4 and the other a best of 12/5 you would think the side in 6th are the 5/4 shots, but amazingly they aren't. Richard Hill was pretty scathing after his first game back in charge of Eastleigh on Saturday when they lost 3-0 to Dover. Martin Allen's reign was unsuccessful and Eastleigh clearly need a lot of work. Aldershot have been impressing in recent weeks and even their away has improved after looking a bit dodgy for most of the season. I just can't believe they are 23/10 (Marathon) and it looks a fantastic bet.   Enfield v Billericay I still can't believe Billericay didn't beat Grays just over a week ago given their superb form at the moment and they were back to winning ways when beating Hendon on Saturday. They look a big price at 2/1 (Marathon) to follow up on Tuesday night. Enfield aren't in great form at the moment having lost five of their last seven. The Grays blip aside, Billericay look the best side in the division at the moment and I think they should be favourites to win this game.

    Guiseley v Sutton
I think it is fairly obvious who I am tipping up here. Again I just don’t understand the prices and how bookies can make Sutton favourites. The reasons for taking them on are obviously the same on Saturday and the fact they lost 3-0 adds to the reasons. Going all the way up to Leeds on a Tuesday evening is probably the last thing they want at the moment and I am sure they just want Monday night to come. Guiseley might be in the relegation zone, but their home has been superb in recent months. Ever since they got their first win of the season when beating York 6-1 they have not been beaten at home in the league, that’s a run of 9 games which features just 3 draws. They only just kept that run going on Saturday as they equalised with the last kick of the game against Eastleigh. They played well again though and they are clearly relying on their home form to keep them up. If you can get on with Skybet then they are biggest at 7/4, but even at lesser odds they still rate fantastic value and I make them a max bet.

    Ilkeston v Coalville
The fact Ilkeston didn’t play on Saturday and Coalville did (a 0-0 draw with Stafford) is a slight concern, but otherwise they look a solid bet at 5/6. I don’t really need to repeat myself about Ilkeston. Coalville might only be 17th in the league, but their away form has been good on the whole. Granted they have lost their last two, but Spennymoor and Stourbridge are two of the best sides in the division. Prior to that they had won 4 on the bounce on their travels and they should be more than capable of getting back to winning ways here. The 5/6 about an away seems a fair.

    Aldershot v Barrow
Both teams pushing for the play-off and are separated by just one point. Theres a massive difference is in form though. Aldershot last 8 games - W5 D2 L 1, since december theyve won 3 and drawn1, scoring 8 and conceding just 1. Barrow are the opposite, with only 1 win since november (although against Lincoln),Last 8 - W1 D3 L4, according to their forums theyre poor at set peices, good at the back, and have a 'direct' style of play (hoof the ball to the tall striker!), Barrow have a lot of injuries and rely a lot on loanees, also one of their main strikers (Harrison) is injured.
    Aldershot @  2.10

    York v Maidstone
Saw York at Nuneaton at the weekend and they were all over us, excellent passing team, not one that id expect to be in bottom position. They also seemed to have turned the corner and the 3-0 win over us will give them a definite boost, the club are calling this game 'the biggest of the season' as a win would but them above maidstone on goal difference. Their last 8 reads - W2 D4 L2, and they have lost once since the 3rd Jan. Maidstones form - W1 D1 L6, they have only 2 clean sheets all season, the last in October, and have the second worst goal difference and goals conceded record in the division. Looking at the forums, the club arent taking this one as seriously as York, and seem to think they are 'too good to go down'.
    York @  1.70

    Merthyr v Chesham
The Merthyr bandwagon shows no sign of stopping! Merthyr have been good to me in recent weeks and i think that will continue against Chesham, who now look out out of the title race. Since early Jan Chesham are W1 D1 L2 (the win was against lowly St Neots). Merthyr on the other hand are unbeaten since early December, since then they are W8 D2, and in all home matches - W11 D5 L0. Merthyr also won the reverse fixture 1-0, and must be eyeing the top spot.

    Grantham v Stourbridge
Both teams on an amazing run of form. Stourbridge having lost once in the last 15 league matches (a 4-1 defeat away to Sutton Coldfield at end of Jan), Grantham are unbeaten in the last 15, seeing them rise to 6th in the table, 4 points behind second placed Stourbridge. Blyth are running away with the league on 65 points (10 ahead of stourbridge).
The bookies make Stourbridge slight favourites, however, Stourbridge have lost 2 of the last 4; after the sutton Coldfield loss (their last away match), they played in the league cup and lost 4-1 at home... to Grantham! I think Grantham must have the upper hand in this one, knowing they beat Stourbridge 3 weeks ago, racing to get into the play-offs, while stourbridge cant catch Blyth but are safely in the play-offs.

    Solihull v Sutton

I was kicking myself for not backing Boreham Wood to beat Sutton in the FA Trophy replay on Tuesday night. Given Sutton’s away form and the fact they ended up with just 9 men on the pitch in the first game it really was an obvious bet, but for some reason I left it alone. They ended up getting stuffed and it is hard to understand why they aren’t favourites for this let alone priced up at 19/10 (various). Granted Sutton have two games in hand, but Solihull are actually 1 point above their visitors in the table. They have gone through some changes in the squad and I did think they might begin to suffer as a consequence, but that hasn’t really happened and they have been performing well. Sutton’s players will be thinking about Arsenal already and given there away form is so bad, Solihull rate a pretty strong bet at the prices.

    Southport v Dagenham & Redbridge

Southport’s chairman can’t resist a manager change and to me it was pretty harsh to get rid of Steve Burr. Andy Preece got the job in the week and he has a very tough game to get his tenure underway. Southport’s issues are defensive at the moment and it will be a tough ask for Preece to get them sorted at the first time of asking. They didn’t play too badly against Gateshead last week, but they still lost 3-0. Dagenham meanwhile have been scoring goals for fun of late and will take plenty of confidence from the injury time winner they scored against Chester last week. They really have turned a corner over the past month and they look title contenders again. I am surprised they aren’t odds on and William Hill’s 11/10 is worth taking.

    Acca

All the troubled clubs who I have been opposing are playing teams who are very short this week so I have come up with a four-fold which pays 4.6/1 with Marathon. Dartford continued their good form when beating Whitehawk easily last Saturday and they should overcome Gosport. Speaking of Whitehawk they did eventually stop the rot with a point against Eastbourne on Tuesday, but they now face a flying Ebbsfleet and they shouldn’t have too many issues in beating them. In the Ryman Premier Merstham did finally win away from home last time, but going to an Enfield Town side who are hoping to get in the play-offs will be a much tougher task. In the Evo-Stik Northern Premier high flying Nantwich should have too much for Sutton Coldfield.

Chelmsford beat bishop stortford 4-0 on Boxing Day and only the goalkeeper of stortford kept the score line down apparently, this was stortfords second 4-0 defeat on the trot. Stortford keep signing players(3 more this week) but don't seem to have any continuity and look a team worth taking on.chelmsford have had investment this season and should win this one. Prices of 1-2 make no appeal so I've taken a riskier Chelmsford minus 1 at 8-5

Fixtures are all over the place with the Ryman Prem fitting in two sets of fixtures and the other leagues one albeit on different days.
    Maidstone v Dover

There are two live games on BT Sport over New Year and I think both are worth having a bet in. It starts with the Kent Derby on New Years Day and Dover look just the right side of value at even money. All the National League teams who played each other on Boxing Day have the reverse fixture on Sunday so we have some very recent form to go on. Now these two teams drew and it was a fair reflection of the game, but Dover are much better than Maidstone and I expect them to make their quality count in front of the cameras. Their away form is solid and they are unbeaten in their last 4 on the travels including a 1-1 draw at Forest Green. Maidstone’s home form has been poor all season and although annoyingly they have won two of the times I have taken them on within their last 6 home games, it has been a profitable strategy taking them on at home. In their last home game they lost to North Ferriby which really is poor especially as they conceded two to them and they had only scored 3 on their travels before that! Dover are bang in the play-off picture whereas Maidstone are dropping like a stone towards the relegation zone and we should be seeing an away win here.

    Dagenham & Redbridge v Braintree

Having backed Braintree for relegation their recent upturn in form has not been good to see from that point of view, however I am happy to back them to do the double over Dagenham after beating them 3-2 on Monday. Braintree have only lost one of their last seven league matches (1-0 to Tranmere) and will fancy their chances of beating a Dagenham side who haven’t really played well for a few weeks now. The win at Dover was good, but bar that they have only managed to beat York and Maidstone in their last 8 league games. They do deserve some credit for getting a draw against Solihull after being 3 down, but they look a long way from the side who topped the table earlier in the season. Only York have a worse last six home game record and Braintree’s away form is actually better than their home form. This game is live on BT Sport on Monday night and at 41/10 Braintree are way overpriced on current form.

    Gloucester City v Brackley

Gloucester are on a terrible run of form at the moment having lost their last 6 league games. However they have had a very tough run of fixtures given that includes 4 of the current top 6 in the National League North and Stockport who are 8th. Gloucester’s good form came when the fixture list was good and the fact they are playing the better teams, plus a few injuries has meant they are much closer to their true position in the league. I am sure they will be winning again soon, but Brackley beat them fairly comfortably 3-0 on Monday and I think it will be more of the same on Sunday. Brackley have won 6 of their last 7 games and look genuine play-off contenders. They look a fair price at 6/5 (Marathon) to do the double over Gloucester.

    Merstham v Burgess Hill

Regular readers will know I have been keen to take on Merstham away from home because they have a dreadful away record. At home though it is a completely different story as they have lost just twice and won six, whereas they have yet to win on their travels. Burgess Hill have only managed one away win themselves and thus at 23/20 the home side look well worth a bet on for this game on New Years Eve.

    Ilkeston v Matlock

No need to repeat myself here regarding Ilkeston and I can’t believe the bookmakers haven’t caught on yet as Matlock are too big at 4/5. Mickleover ended up putting 7 past Ilkeston and although that probably won’t happen here Matlock are a better team than Mickleover, indeed given their games in hand they have to be considered title contenders at the moment. In their last two games they have beaten Whitby and Buxton who are 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier at the moment. To me Matlock are essentially a max bet at 4/5, but I am going to put 4 points on the win and a point on the -1 at 2/1 because it will be disappointing if Matlock don’t win this with ease. This game takes place on Monday.

Had a cracking win over FGR recently which helped open up the title race even more. I very much doubt they will go down as there are some poor sides in the league and they will have enough to finish above them.
