  1. Re: Wolverhampton 26/1/09 Strabinios King - neck second.............:unsure Can't blame the horse this time, it was a farcical race with Kensington unseating rider at the start........he then made his way to the front and took on Strabinios King for the lead. Jockey tried to hold him back but he just went too fast for a hundred yards or so and died the death before the end of the race............

  2. Re: Wolverhampton 26/1/09

Start tipping a few 100/1' date=' 66/1 shots for us then ;)[/quote'] They'd all finish 4th.............:loon I tipped up a nice couple of winners yesterday on the AW but generally I'm going through an unlucky run.........with my BBotD selections I suppose we all do now and then, but it's damned annoying...........
  3. Re: Wolverhampton 26/1/09

I'm ******* sick of this. Ivory Silk' date=' Northen Empire and now Mullitovermaurice all done in photos. I'm gonna be rock bottom of BBOTD at this race, I can't believe it. :@[/quote'] I'm still below you !...........:lol I just can't believe the number of seconds I've had this month. Even when I despaired of ever picking another AW winner and turned to the jumps I had The Very Man beaten a neck after three and a quarter miles............:@ It makes you wanna give up !
  4. Re: Wolverhampton 26/1/09

The top weight, Co Dependent, is interesting. Had the 3 runs as a two year old to get his handicap mark, then put away until today. He's interesting 'cos his trainer, has produced one with a very similar profile, Fantastic Fred, to win two handicaps in the last couple of weeks. This could be a strategy to get his horses well handicapped for their three year old season.
The money's down on this one !.........backed in to 7/2 favourite Can he do a Fantastic Fred ?............. Edit.........drifted out again !...........hehee
  5. Re: Wolverhampton 26/1/09 17.40 - Bluebell Ridge - win Don't fancy the favourite here, Little Carmela - up in class, up in the weights, down in trip and on a tighter track, can't see her reproducing her Great Leighs win from last time out. Already drifting, might well lose favouritism before the 'off'. There is only one CD winner in the field, Gamesters Lady, but she hasn't run for 221 days and as far as I can tell the trainer has no record of getting them ready first time out. Brave Mave, Karmest and Eureka Moment all look like Southwell horses. Mildoura is a French horse who's never run in the UK, could be anything but the trainer looks out of form That leaves Bluebell Ridge, who's won over this trip twice at Kempton, has run OK here at a longer trip but should be better back at 12F. In a race where none of them stand out, she looks to have a decent chance.

  6. Re: Best Bet of the Day-26/1/09 3.40 Wolverhampton - Multiovermaurice - win Only CD winner in the field, has been running well in claimers and makes handicap debut today. Looks well handicapped off 63 on his claiming race form Has finished 1st and short head 2nd in his 2 runs over todays CD. Be interesting to see how Svindal goes - he looks to be in the handicappers grip following some consistant placed runs. Be fascinating to see what difference Spencer makes. Nicky Nutjob ran well last time but maybe this slightly shorter trip at a tighter track won't suit him as stamina appears to be his strong point. He was already running over 10F last year as a two year old. Crazy Colours ran well last time in a 8F maiden, running on at the end to suggest this longer trip would suit. But I'm going with the provan CD form of Multiovermaurice !

  7. Re: Wolverhampton 26/1/09 4.40 Strabinios King - Win Can't add much to what Fin said earlier. He's a CD winner, last time out winner, down in class, beat his main rival, Kensington, easily enough last time to suggest the penalty will be no problem and he's a well backed short price favourite. The likely second favourite, Triple Axel, looks like a Southwell/soft ground horse and I'd fancy Kensington to be second today. Can't see any danger to the favourite !.............:ok

  8. Re: Wolverhampton 26/1/09

Having watched the first two races from here, I continually find it unbeleiveable why horses down the outside always get on top close home? What is it with the inside rail? You simply have no chance no matter what on the inner.
I just wonder if it might be the machines they use to 'harrow' the track........maybe as they run along they shove some of the 'dirt' out to the side. In the middle of the track it doesn't matter because the machine then moves in 10 yards and goes round again, spreading out that 'side dirt'..........but the last run round the track would be up against the inside rail, so the 'side dirt' from that run doesn't get harrowed over again The dirt along the rail would be a bit 'deeper' than in the midle of the track It's probably the same up against the outside rail, but nobody ever runs there so it's not noticed........

  10. Re: Wolverhampton 26/1/09 3.05 - Smirfys Systems - EW This is the second division of the amateur riders handicap over 6 furlongs The likely favourite is Simpsons Gamble, tipped up by both the Life and the Post, but this appears to be his first ever run at Wolverhampton and he's looked in the handicappers grip since winning last April The topweight, Smirfys Systems, is a CD winner who also won here over 7 furlongs last time out. He's fit, in form and CD no problem. Looks a decent EW punt at around 7/1.

  11. Re: Wolverhampton 26/1/09 1.55 - Inca Soldier - EW Class 6 amateur riders handicap over 6F......... I suppose the best advice would be not to touch it with a bargepole.......:lol The favourite, Under Warranty, has got an obvious chance. He's only had one run in the UK, finishing a neck 2nd over todays CD after a long break. If you were going to put the mortgage on, this would be the pick. But he looks like a front runner and is drawn wide The other fancied ones have doubts about them. Kingsmaite is a CD winner, but that was years ago and he's more a Southwell horse these days. Fantasy Fighter looks in the handicappers grip as he keeps getting placed. Inca Soldier at around 7/1 has a good chance, usually runs well here and is quite 'well in' on his form from a year or so ago. He could be swooping late if they go off too fast. Had a good run back from a break last time, 2nd to Sarah's Art and that looks good enough for a place here

  12. Re: Wolverhampton 25/01/09

3.55 - Tender Process - EW Ran pretty well last time to finish within half a length of prolific claimer winner, Mutamared, over 6F at Lingfield. Back in handicap company, back to 7 furlongs and back to Wolves where he scored his last win over todays CD last November. Should have a good EW chance...........
    8/1 winner..........:nana 16/1...........7/1..........8/1 winners.........the threads on fire !!
  13. Re: Wolverhampton 25/01/09

2.55 - Fantastic Fred - win Won a similar handicap to today over todays CD 9 days ago That was his first run for 4 months and only his 4th career start. Was a poor two year old, well beaten in all 3 starts in class 5 races over 6/7 furlongs, but that got him what looks like a decent handicap mark Stepped up to 9 furlongs and down to class 6 he won here off a mark of 53. Has gone up 4lbs but hopefully he'll come on a bit for that first run back and with normal improvement from 2 years old to 3 years old, he could be a bit ahead of the handicapper. Currently 7/2 3rd favourite The two ahead of him in the market have doubts against them. Autumn Morning has looked held off this mark in his last couple of races and is vulnerable to an improver. Kingaroo looks like a Southwell/soft ground horse.
:nana:nana:nana What a price !..........drifted out to 7/1 !!!! :cow

  15. Re: Wolverhampton 25/01/09 3.25 - Cecily - win Looks a fairly hot little race with a few in-form performers. 4 out of the 7 are last time out winners. Might be worth taking a chance on one of the outsiders, Cecily at around 7/1......... Sir Mark Prescott's runner was well touted before her AW debut a couple of weeks ago, the newspaper tipsters were shouting her name. But she drifted in the betting and ran only moderately, beaten 4 lengths by Smokey Ryder. It's safe to assume that she probably needed the run If she runs the race today that the tipsters expected of her last time then 7/1 might be a big price.

  17. Re: AYR ~ Sunday 25th January. Ayr 3.05 - Quicayo - win five runner class 3 novice chase Quicayo likes it here at Ayr with 2 hurdle wins and a novice chase win, all over todays trip on heavy ground. He's a natural front runner so the small field and likely slow pace should play into his hands Would appear to have 2 main rivals on the book Cromwell Court is consistant but hasn't won for 2 years and Role On looks decent but fell last time out so there has to be a query about his jumping

  19. Re: Lingfield - 24Jan09 4.15 Coral Shores - EW Should go off at a big price but got a feeling she might run a good race. Last time she finished last of 6 but wasn't beaten that far, under 4 lengths, behind a pretty smart sort in Mozadaya. That was over a mile and she'll almost certainly improve for stepping up to 10 furlongs as she's recently had a go at hurdling so must have some stamina. Won over CD last february, might go better here than at Southwell as her wins have been on polytrack and good to firm turf.
