  1. Re: Best bet of day 20th april Noticed recently that there's a bit of slackness on this thread with people not specifying if their selection is Win or EW......... Erm........bowzer.........erm, BH !!!............:loon Perhaps we could have a rule that if it's not specified it automatically becomes an EW selection, regardless of the SP !

  2. Re: Best bet of day 20th april Ponteract - 3.10 - Thebes - Win Class 2 handicap sprint - unusually none of the horses are running off career high marks which suggests they're a pretty exposed bunch Thebes has won a Class 2 off 88 and runs off 90 today, he's fairly lightly raced compared with some of the others. He's also won a class 2 at Newmarket so the uphill finish shouldn't worry him Had some excuses for his last 3 runs - drawn wide at Lingfield, on the 'wrong' side at Donny and didn't get 7 furlongs at Kempton. Should be no excuses today - he seems better suited to small fields, acts on the going and the stable is in form

  4. Re: Best bet of day 19th april Ling 4.40 - Sevenna - Win I don't often take much notive of 'pedigree' but this is a nicely bred filly by Galileo out of a Darshaan mare..........sounds good !..........:D Has only run 5 times - won a Newbury maiden then ran in 3 handicaps, the last being the best, a staying on second over 14F at GL in a Class 2 Stepped up to 16F and down a grade, should have a good chance today

  6. Re: Newbury - Saturday 18th Grrrrrrr I've spent hours and hours on the 2.35, trends, studying the last 10 renewals, studying the form etc, etc........ I end up with a short list of 6...........look at the RP and I have the 6 forecast favourites ........:loon I've whittled 'em down to 3....... Huzzah Zaahid Mia's Boy As it happens, these were all on my short list for the Lincoln and all finished fairly close up, 2nd, 4th and 5th...........I think all them will be better for some cut in the ground, Barry Hills has Huzzah and Zaahid and he's flying at the moment. I reckon Mia's Boy could be a bit of value because the trainer is relatively unfashionable compared to Hills, Gosden, Cecil, who have the other favourites. Of the other fancied ones...... Charm School is on a bit of a losing run and you wonder if his potential has been over-rated. He's lost 5 times since his debut win. Manassas - 2 runs on 'Good to Soft' finished last and next to last. Has to be a doubt as to wether he handles it Jaser - nothing wrong with him, just don't like the number 1 draw for a mainly hold-up horse in a big field. So..........I'll take my 3 against the field !

  7. Re: Fintron's Fast Flat Fancies - 2009 Fin..........I've been concentrating on Class 2 Handicaps since the start of the turf and including all-weather since March 28th........... There have been 14 races so far........ 28/03 Donc (H) - 4+ -TW 108 - Expresso Star (97) 28/03 Donc - 4+ -TW 94 - Manassas (92) 28/03 K-AW - 3YO - TW 97 - Daddy's Gift (84) 28/03 K-AW - 4+ - TW 95 - Desert Sea (90) 28/03 K-AW(H) - 4+ - TW 98 - Greylami (87) 29/03 Donc - 4+ - TW 98 - Palace Moon (88) 31/03 S-AW - 4+ - TW 97 - Cheveton (96) 04/04 Newc - 4+- TW 98 - Mister Hardy (89) 04/04 L-AW - 4+ - TW 103 - Hatton Flight (86) 07/04 Pont - 4+ - TW 96 - Ladies Best (92) 11/04 K-AW - 4+ TW 99 - Mahadee (96) 11/04 K-AW - 4+ - TW 98 - Something (88) 15/04 Newm - 3YO - TW 99 - Dark Mischief (86) 17/04 Newb - 4+ - TW 107 - Chief Editor (107) H = Heritage Handicap TW - Topweight official rating I'm keeping stats on the races, the winners, the trainers etc but it's a bit early to draw any conclusions as yet..............:lol Hope this comes in handy if you want to back-research the races.....:ok

  8. Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Fri 17th Apr Newb 2.40 - Cake - EW Has mainly run in listed company with a decent level of form though not winning very often Ran in three handicaps last back-end off this sort of mark. Was drawn out in the car-park at Chester, then ran pretty well at Goodwood and Sandown. On her Listed form she looks well capable of winning a handicap off marks in the low 90s. Todays conditions should suit her ideally, stiffish 5 furlongs with a bit of cut in the ground. These conditions should also suit Oldjoesaid and Cheveton, who made up my shortlist.............but I'm going with the biggest priced of the three.

  9. Re: Best bet of the day 16th April Newm - 3.00 - Equiano - Win Got to take all the beating here..........a Group One winner without a penalty in a Listed race.......... Apart from his win at Royal Ascot he also ran Marchand D'Or to a neck in a Group Two in France. He's a top class sprinter. Since those heady days of last summer he's tranferred from his Spanish trainer to Barry Hill's yard and they're flying at the moment.......... Started to drift in the betting this morning which was a bit of a worry, but seems to have settled back into favouritism

  11. Re: Newmarket Craven Meeting - Weds 15th April

Has to be some doubts about the odds-on favourite, Fantasia..........will 7F be too sharp for her now ?, will she be fully wouind up with big races just around the corner ? She's a Sadlers Wells.......one of my favourite sires, but they usually need 12 furlongs and mud to bring out the best,.......
    :lol:lol shows what I know.............:loon
  12. Re: Best bet of the day 15th April Newm - 5.55 Green Beret - win Fit and in form, won a class 3 handicap easily last time out and steps up to class 2 now Many of his rivals today are making their seasonal debut and might need the run, might not have trained on, might not have grown, who knows what........... Green Beret looks like a typical Gosden handicap project, quite possibly a Group horse in the making after mopping up a few handicaps. Dark Mischief did beat Green Beret on their debut runs at Windsor, but we don't know what's happened to him since and his trainer hasn't got going yet this season. Gosden is flying with 2 winners already this afternoon

Re: Newmarket Craven Meeting - Weds 15th April 4.10 Misdaqeya - EW Has to be some doubts about the odds-on favourite, Fantasia..........will 7F be too sharp for her now ?, will she be fully wouind up with big races just around the corner ? She's a Sadlers Wells.......one of my favourite sires, but they usually need 12 furlongs and mud to bring out the best,....... Looking for an EW.......... Misdaqeya is the second top rated on official figures, finished 2nd to Rainbow View in the Sweet Solera ( ok, a long way 2nd.........:tongue2 ) and the Hills stable is flying At around 18/1 she looks a good EW alternative

  15. Re: Bbotd 13/4/09 Redcar 4.55 - Wovoka - win Started the season off with a nice win at Newcastle 9 days ago. Has gone up 5 lbs for that, but after a disappointing time last season he'd dropped back a bit in the weights and still looks well in if recapturing his old form, which the newcastle win suggests he might be. 8F on good to firm ground looks ideal. Trainer has already had a winner at the meeting this afternoon........

  16. Re: Best bet of the day 12th april Muss 3.50 - Captain Macarry - win Has been progressing nicely since having a year off and coming back to action for the all weather season. Won his maiden at 2 then was highly tried in Class 2 and Listed races before his year off. Came back with more realistic targets and won a class 6 and a class 5 on the all weather. Ran in a decent race at Donny at the Lincoln Meeeting and ran OK, finished 6th but was on the wrong side, the first 3 being on the other side of the track Gradually improving type, this looks a decent opportunity to win a Class 4

  17. Re: Why bother entering? Looks like they only own 2 horses and both of them were in that race...........Smokey Rye is the oher one, a 25/1 shot My guess is that they were having a day out at the races and wanted their horses to take part so they could get in the owners bar/enclosure or whatever............

  18. Re: Best bet of the day 11th April Kempton - 2.05 - Cordell - Win Lightly raced four year old, won his maiden and a good handicap here over CD last year. Must be highly regarded as he ran in some good races in defeat, races won by the likes of Campanologist, Kandahar Run, Royal Confidence and Dream Eater. Main doubt is that he hasn't run for over a year, but in general I think that's less of a problem these days with all weather gallops etc, the trainers can get 'em fit at home. Hannon certainly seems to send out plenty of two year olds who win on debut Ryan Moore booked.

  19. Re: Kempton Park 11/4/09 4.15 Gala Casino Star - EW With the Evens favourite not having run for 2 years, looking for an EW steal here......... Gala Casino Star is a lightly raced type with 14 career runs but already has 4 wins to his name, including 3 handicaps rising from marks of 69 to 83. Starts this season on 84 and has a good claimer up Stable in good form Currently 7/1
