  1. Re: Best bet of the day 23rd April Sandown - 1.45 - Azmeer - win at 4/1 BOG with Stan james This one looked a bit special on it's first couple of runs before flopping when favourite for one of those trillion pound sales races in ireland. They say you should never make excuses for beaten horses but maybe it was the travel, maybe it was the big field, maybe it was the Irish ground, who knows ! Give him a chance to make amends today, he's a course winner and the ground is fine Chabal might be better with cut in the ground and has joined Godolphin. Last year that would have been the kiss of death in early season, but they seem to be making a better start this year Waseet - can't find much wrong with him, except that (despite Elusive Pimpernel last week ) I still think Dunlop's horses usually need a run Bikini Babe - could make a case for this one with the fillies allowance and potentially making all in a small field, but I don't think she's good enough Azmeer looks the safest bet !

  2. Re: Sandown Friday 23rd April Not very keen on this early start with the feature race at 1.45......... Might also be better on softer ground Bikini Babe - could make a case for this one with the fillies allowance and potentially making all in a small field, but I don't think she's good enough Azmeer looks the safest bet !

  3. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ April 21st 8.50 Kemp - Ilie nastase - place lay This this one wants further than today and has never actually won in handicap company Held by favourite Crown Choice on their run behind Spirit of Sharjah last time out and with New leyf looking like an improver and the Clive brittain horse on the comeback trail (good EW bet ?)..........can't see old Ilie getting placed Odds are poor but at the moment I reckon I only need 3p to take the lead ! :moon:lol:lol (Hope I'm not being too clever by half !)

  4. Re: Epsom 21st April 2.20 Epsom - Ocean Blaze - EW at 20/1 BOG with Stan James At first glance this doesn't look too strong a race for the grade with a few old timers, a few out of form and on the decline, some coming back from breaks etc Ocean Blaze has posted some good speed figs on the all weather without winning and is a nippy type. Her wins have all come on turf. She's won at Goodwood which is a similar track This is her second run back after a break of a few months. She was given a tender ride on her reappearance, held up at the rear, some late progress, rider never used the whip. That was quite a decent race behind Lord Of The Reins Just had the look of a prep race..........hopefully for today ! Good odds with Stan James, 20/1 - she's as low as 12/1 with other firms.

  6. Re: Lay Of The Day - Tuesday 20th April 3.55 Kemp - Mercoliano - place lay Race full of unknowns here Four of the five runners are running in their first handicap after winning maidens last time out. Difficult to say which, if any, are well handicapped on what they've shown so far. As there's only 5 lbs between the whole field, I'm treating it as a level weights race and ignoring the handicap marks. I'm laying the current favourite on the basis that he has the 'speediest' pedigree and steps up from 8.5 furlongs to 12. Three of the others have much more stamina and look certain to get the trip, whereas he doesn't. So basically I'm banking on him fading in the last furlong or so.

  7. Re: Kempton 20th April (AW) 2.20 Kemp - Craicattack - win at 9/4 BOG with William Hill Front runner who should be suited by todays small field as he should be able to dictate things Steps back from 7F to 6F - I'm undecided as to wether front runners are better off back in trip or up in trip, I can't fathom it out really.........but he should be OK back in trip as he seems to run quicker than the others even tho' he runs over further usually. Perhaps rather thn getting to the front and slowing it down, he should get to the front and take them along quick, bringing his 7F stamina into play. I'll watch how it goes with interest

  9. Re: Windsor 19th April (eve) Well done lads on Everybody Knows ! Won easily...........and saved my skin in the Lay of The Day comp as my lay came in 2nd ! :tongue2 Feel i missed out on Beat The Bell in the first as I've been watching him on the all weather and knew he was in good nick.

  10. Re: Classic Time - Stan James 2,000 Guineas Just wondered if the St Nick backers are getting worried about the stable form ? There's been about 6 or 7 group races in Ireland so far and O'Brien has generally had the short price favourite in all of them............and they've all been beaten OK, so he's won some maidens and all weather races at Dundalk, but it seems like the 'top team' are just not performing ! Any concerns ?............:$

  11. Re: Lay of the day 19th April 6.10 Windsor - Laudatory - win lay Curently showing as fave but he's got the worst of the draw and his best forms (his wins !) have been at 7 furlongs, has run OK over a mile but tends to be one paced in the finish, suggesting he might not quite be getting home over the trip

  12. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ April 18th 4.10 Leop - Mikhael Glinka - win lay Some day the O'Brien runners will start winning group races, but until they do I'm happy to lay any of his runners that go off at a short price. MG looks like he's in the top 3 of O'briens potential Derby runners and he's going the 'Fame and Glory' route with that group one in France at the back end of last year and the Ballysax today Wether he turns out to be as good as F&G we'll have to wait and see, but after F&G flopped last time, followed by Don Carlos at newmarket, I still don't think he has his A Team ready

  13. Re: Leopardstown - 18/4/10 4.10 Leop - Elusive award - EW at 16/1 with Stan James Looked an exciting prospect before flopping in the Racing post trophy last season Finished last that day but didn't have the run of the race. Needless to say, the form of the race has worked out pretty well and the fact that he was travelling ok for most of the trip marks him down as pretty smart With the O'brien runners still not firing and plenty of unknown maiden win types in todays race, might be worth giving him another chance to prove that his RPT run was not his true form. 16/1 is a great price with our sponsors, Stan James, as he's as low as 9/1 in places

  15. Re: Newbury - Saturday 17th April 3.40 Dick Turpin - win I'm a bit intrigued as to why Hannon is running what appears to be his best 2 Gns colts in the same race He could have run Dick Turpin in the Craven the other day instead of that seeming no hoper. He could have run him in Ireland or france in their guineas trials. I remember reading last year that Canford Cliffs is a huge big beast of a horse who might need a lot of work to get fit and might need a run to bring him on I reckon they might be running 'Dick' here because their supposed number one isn't quite ready yet. Arcano looks good but might be a sprinter and the Meehan yard hasn't hit form yet At the relative odds it's worth taking a chance on the Hannon second string.

  16. Re: Newbury - Saturday 17th April 3.05 Puff - EW Got doubts about the front two in the market.......Misheer might 'just' be a sprinter and Lady of The Desert was reported as being a small one and might lack the scope to compete as a three year old. Puff ran pretty well in the Cheveley park finishing 4th and beating Habaayib and if the front two fail to deliver the race should should be between these two, unless Gosden's dark horse is a good 'un

  17. Re: Newbury - Saturday 17th April 2.35 - Cityscape - EW Touch of class, looked a real exciting prospect as a 2 year old when he finished 2nd in the Royal Lodge, but disappointed a bit at 3, tho' he did finish 2nd in the Greenham on this day last year. Was well beaten in the 2000 Gns and hasn't been seen since. Carries top weight which may be fair 'if' he's a group horse, has a good draw.
