  1. Re: Lay of the day 11th May 6.50 Southwell - Royal Dignitary - lay Been in pretty good form lately but might find it tricky to adopt his 'make all' style tonight with a couple of other confirmed front runners in the field I fancy something might run on from the back and collar him or one of the other front runners might outstay him in the final furlong

  2. Re: LOTD - Monday 10th May Windsor 6.40 - Ordnance row - lay Looks like a two horse race on paper between the selection and Beacon Lodge Ordnance Row has won this race for the last 2 years and follows the same path as last year, when he ran in the haydock listed race on saturday then came here two days later Last year, however, he finished second at haydock (to beacon lodge ) beaten under a length and he comes here today after being well beaten at Haydock With my current form he'll probably romp home tonight, but I've had a few quid on Beacon Lodge, so fingers crossed .............:hope

  3. Re: Best bet of the day 10th May 2.30 Wolv - Pick A little - win at 11/4 BOG with Bet365 First look at a two year old race This on is the only previous winner in the field and takes a big drop in class after running in a class 3 conditions stakes at Ascot last week Sprint bred and an early foal A lot of these are more stotly bred and might struggle for pace against the selection, who's a nippy front running type.

  4. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ Sun, May 9th Leop 4.05 - Midas Touch - Lay I've had a lot of success in the comp by laying the O'Brien short priced ones and until they start winning, I think I'll just carry on ! This one looks a real stayer and apart from the doubts around the stable form, I don't think he'll be suited by a four runner race on good to firm ground, One of other three (including his pacemaker) will probably have too much speed if it turns into a sprint finish The pacemaker, At First Sight, cocked up a couple of weeks ago, going much too slow and getting Mikael Glinka beaten Hope he will do the same job on Midas Touch today !

  5. Re: Leopardstown Leop 4.05 - Reiteration - win at 8/1 BOG with Bet365 Only 4 runners and two of them from the out of form O'Brien yard At First Sight is a pacemaker for the O'Brien team but didn't do a very good job last time when he went too slow and he and the other horse near the pace sprinted home and took first and second. The O'Brien first string, Mikael Glinka, couldn't get to them before the line. Address Unknown ran in that same race, finishing 5th, and being a bit unlucky, blocked in when the pace quickened. I expect him to beat the O'Brien pair The first string today, Midas Touch, looks a real stayer and would similarly struggle off a slow pace on good to firm ground I'm going to go with the outsider of the field, who's stepping up in grade but has won his last two races and looks to have a bit of speed. I'm banking on a slow run race and a sprint finish

  7. Re: Hayley Turner I place layed Barshiba in the 'lay of the day comp' and I was counting my money at half way..............weak little girl couldn't hold the horse back, pulled her arms out, went off like a scalded cat into an 8 length lead......... Then 2 furlongs out I was wishing I'd put the mortgage on the Lay.........Traffic Guard and Duncan ranged up alongside as the mare came back to the field...........luvely jubbly ! Then.........hang on, what's happening................:loon:loon:wall Grrr..........damn that Hayley Turner and her wonderful ride.........:@ Fortunately, it's only 'comp money' and I didn't have any real cash on........ So well done Hayley........fantastic ride...........:ok

  8. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ Sat, May 8th 2.20 Ascot - Barshiba - place lay She's a grand mare is Barshiba but she doesn't have a good record on coming back from a break Only two places up for grabs and you've gotta think Duncan will take one of them..........I fancy Cole's runners will work as a team and i can see Traffic Guard bustling up Duncan I might be wrong but I think barshiba is the one-eyed horse ?........not sure she's suited to small fields and 'tactical' races where she has plenty of open space around her, probably better where she can lob along in amongst other runners

  9. Re: BBOTD - Sat 8th May

Ascot 2.20 - Good Again - ew at 10/1 BOG with Bet365 Topweight here with a decent claimer taking 5lbs off This filly has a very good record over this track and a good record coming back off a break Won this race last year and was placed in the big filies handicap at Royal Ascot Has had three months off since flopping in Dubai
Apologies BH.......that should be the 2.50 at Ascot :ok

  11. Re: Lay of the day - Friday 7th May Chester 2.15 - Dancing David - win lay Ran well in the craven but steps up in trip today and I'm laying him on the basis that he has the least stamina of the field and I'm gambling that he won't be suited by the extra distance, despite what the pundits are saying. I think Azmeel is a lively Derby contender and should take this if he's going to Epsom. I also like the Barry Hills outsider, so happy to take on Dancing David. With a non runner it's 3 places from 7 runners, so I'm not place laying, which I might have done with 8 runners

  12. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ Thursday 6th Blimey DM.........just noticed on the Table last night that you have 16 consecutive 'winners' in the comp ! Well done mate, that's pretty good going !..........:ok My selecion today - Chester 2.15 - Redwood - lay Has the look of a 'best fresh' horse and comes here after running a stormer just 16 days ago (I was on him at 16/1 EW !) - I'm opting for 'the bounce' ! Also - hold up horse drawn wide, he's bound to be at the back when the sprint for home starts !

  13. Re: Southwell 5th May (AW) Southwell 4.10 - Lucky Punt - win at 9/4 with Stan James Cracking horse around the fibresand with 5 wins from 7 starts Has climbed the handicap over the last year but not sure they've got to the bottom of him yet He's probably still improving and is having his second run back after a little break, finishing a good 2nd on his reapperance. Always posts good speed figs here and is definitely worth following until he finishes 4th or 5th a couple of times and the handicapper has caught up with him

  15. Re: Lay Of The Day Selections ~ Wednesday 5th 4.45 Southwell - On Khee - win lay I was pretty keen on laying this one during this morning, but I've got less keen as the day has gone His win last time out doesn't seem up to much, all the horses behind him have been out and got well beat since. He's also pretty low on stamina for this testing trip for 3 year olds. The reason I'm having the collywobbles is that this looks a very poor race and the only one I can see beating On Khee is Sir Pitt, and he looks a thorough rogue. So i expect I'm depending on the rogue, which makes me nervous........:unsure

  16. Re: Best bet of the day 3rd May Kemp 3.00 - Six Diamonds - win at 5/1 BOG with Totesport Taking a chance on this one being fit for his seasonal debut Was making up in to a nice little sprint handicapper in a few all weather runs last back end, has some decent speed figs to his name, and this looks a weak race Been a bit of money for him today, so hopefully he's ready to run

  17. Re: Lay Of The Day - Bank Holiday Monday 3.00 Kemp - Kylladie - win lay Has been running over 6 and 7 furlongs for all his career until last time out when he dropped to 5 furlongs and won That was on soft ground on turf and i reckon this sharp 5 round the bend on poly might not suit him Maybe he needs soft ground to be effective at the minimum trip. Beaten horses from that winning race have come out and been beaten since, so the form hasn't been franked Fancy the top two in the handicap, both coming back from breaks, might provide the winner

  18. Re: Lay Of The Day - Sunday 2nd May 3.20 Newm - Music Show - place lay Think the ground has gone against this one, but that's a bit of an unknown for a lot of the runners I'm laying because I don't think the race will be run to suit her. From what i've seen she sits at the back of the field and accelerates past them in the finish Big field today - she might have trouble getting through if she sits too far back. And the softened ground might nullify her undoubted turn of foot

  19. Re: Best Bet Of The Day ~ 2nd May 2010 Newm 3.20 - Lady Darshaan - EW at 28/1 BOG with Bet365 I'm dubious as to wether Special Duty or Music Note will get the trip today in a big field on softened ground, and (despite Ghanaati last year) i think this usually goes to a filly with provan group race form at 2 So I've got my short list from the May Hill and Fillies Mile - Pollenator, Hibaayeb, Seta, Lasy Darshaan Not much between them - Seta is too short priced and looks like going off fave, not sure about the ground for any of them Decided to go with the biggest priced of the four ! Lady Darshaan was a bit unlucky in the Fillies Mile, having been whacked on the nose by the winners jockey's whip and carried left as the winner drifted, but only beaten less than a length

  20. Re: Lay Of The Day - Saturday 1st May 3.05 Newm - St Nicholas Abbey - place lay I'm gonna be brave (or stupid !) and go for a big one to start the month on the basis that there's plenty of time to get it back if it goes wrong ! If St Nick is the great horse that he might be, he'll probably win this But there's gotta be doubts - stamina (is this too short a trip ?), ground (better with cut ?), stable form (quiet start to the season), sire (montjeu - doesn't produce group one milers), track (big horse, get unbalanced in the dip ?) If it turns out that St Nick is basically a Derby horse, then he might well be running on into 4th here after the true milers have flown

  21. Re: Best bet of the day - Sat 1st May 3.05 Newm - Dick Turpin - ew at 22/1 BOG with Totesport Won the Greenham, beating his better fancied stable mate and think he can beat that one again Has solid group race form from last year and this and miht just be an early season horse who gives his best on his first few runs Got to be doubts over the O'brien team (tho' no doubt they'll bounce back, probably starting today !) and Dick Turpin looks as good as any of the home team Think it's significant that he's running here - the plan over the winter apparently was to send him to France with canford Cliffs as the Guineas horse. They've changed their mind and hopefully it's because Dick has shown more than expected at home.
