  1. Re: BBOTD - Tuesday 7th June Sals 6.00 - Collect Art - win at 85/40 BOG with VC Bet This is one of those 'Hands and Heels' handicaps where the apprentice jocks are not allowed to use the whip. Collect Art has already won one of these races which is a big plus as we know he can win without being whipped, which might not be the case with some of the others. Today's apprentice was on him when he won that race at Newmarket He's also in good nick being placed in his last 9 runs including 4 wins He has no course form but has won at tracks with uphill finishes, Bath and Newmarket and he's won over a furlong further, so he should get the trip OK and not tiring near the finish Acts on the ground

  2. Re: BBOTD Monday 6th June Folk 4.00 - On Terms - win at 6/4 BOG Bet365 Has a 100% record over this CD, 2 runs, 2 wins, and in both cases she made all in small fields and won easily Doesn't seem to be in the same form now as last summer but her two runs this season have been over an inadequate trip, then in a Listed race Should be cherry ripe now and in a four runner field here should be able to get out in front and make all again Main rival, Wild Desert, has the better recent form with a good 3rd last time, but not sure about this 2 mile trip if my selection stretches them out

  3. Re: So Betfred Buys The Tote................. The cynic in me assumes that they've bought it to get hold of the shops and the real estate and when the seven (?) year deal to give some revenue to racing expires the shops will gradually become 'betfred' or get sold off to become Tesco Locals and the Tote will quietly be amalgamated into Betfred and disappear........

  4. Re: Irish Racing A year or more ago I posted a thread on here with a briliant idea ! At the time I had just lost it with so much racing in the UK I was going dizzy trying to follow the form My brilliant idea was to concentrate on Irish racing instead 'cos there was usually only 5 or 6 meetings a week instead of 5 or 6 a day ! Well.........I never did it but I did look seriously at irish racing for a while. The main problem as i saw it was that with so little racing and so many horses in training the average maiden or handicap was 20 odd runners. The whole system of reserves put me off as well. I haven't got the time or inclination to study form for 20 plus runner races.

  5. Re: Flat Racing - Sunday 5th June

They should really. They even put the wrong name up on the screen for a second before he realised. I have never found a website that has French racing replays in English though?
I'm guessing it will be on the RUK site......... But I'm thinking like on Arc day when C4 and RUK and ATR are previewing the race and they show the clip of the French derby winner who's the favourite for todays Arc................and it's the wrong horse being called............:unsure
  6. Re: Flat Racing - Sunday 5th June

anyone else see the commentary on the big race today in France. what an absolute balls up by the commentator! the colours weren't even similar and not for one second did I think my horse was in front and had won!
Yes, it was a shocker.............:loon I wonder what they do in cases like this because that race will go in the archives and the race finish will be played hundreds of times in 'form guides' and season reviews etc Will they let him re-record it and destroy the original ?
  7. Re: Bet Of The Day : Sunday June 5th Having a rare look at the jumps today Perth 3.00 - Peachey Moment - win at 15/8 VC bet Only CD winner in the field, acts on the ground, has won his last 2 races, has won in class 3, is top rated on RPR and Topspeed and has won in small fierld races like today Haven't got much of a handle on what his form is worth, or that of his rivals, having not followed the jumps for a while, so this is what i call a 'racecard selection'...........based on the assumption that you're looking no further than the racecard................:unsure

  8. Re: BBOTD Knockout Competition ~ 1st Round Selections Good luck bb.......... I'm posting early as well 'cos my internet has been going down for 2/3 hours every day around lunchtime and I'm working in the morning - might not get back before it goes down...............:loon Epsom 2.40 - Premier Loco - win at 2/1BOG Wm Hill Epsom 4.00 - Recital - win at 9/2 BOG Wm Hill Epsom 4.00 - Memphis Tennessee - EW at 28/1 BOG Laddies reserve Epsom 3.15 - Masamah - win at 7/1 BOG Wm Hill

  9. Well done Nick ! He's been saying that Dancing Rain would win the Oaks ever since she made her debut To quote him after her narrow 2nd last time out......... This leaves Dancing Rain as the Oaks candidate to take from the race. She's now earned the two top speed ratings I've given all the Oaks entrants. So I think the general 25-1 you can get about her for the Oaks is plain crazy. As I see it she should be favourite

  10. Re: friday bbotd 3rd June Bath 8.35 - Tap Dance Way - win at 9/2 with Skybet With the possible favourite, Timocracy, a non runner this is now wide open even though there are only 5 runners. As of now all of them are best priced between 4/1 and 5/1...............:unsure I put TDW up as my BBotd a couple of runs ago and was let down when she finished last of 5 here. In retrospect that wasn't so bad as it was her first run of the season, the 1st and 3rd won next time out and the 4th went down by under a length in her next run, so the form doesn't look too bad. She's won over 8f here and steps up to 10f today. On breeding and run style she should get the extra trip and hopefully will be ready now after a couple of runs. Ideally I'd like to see her making all as I'm sure she could see off Duneen's Dream, who's a seriel front runner and could be dangerous if allowed an uncontested lead.

  11. Re: Epsom Derby 2011 - Ante Post Thread I've just seen the Sir Percy derby on RUK - this was during my years away from the sport and I don't think I've seen it before ! What a fantastic race ..............but wasn't that horrible with the horse in midfield breaking down and wobbling all over the place..........I assume that was fatal...........

  12. Re: bbotd 2/6/11 Sou 5.30 - Hit The Switch - win at 10/1 BOG with Laddies This horse is a miler running over 11 furlongs today, but I've noticed in the past that milers can win over Southwell's 11 furlongs. I put this down to the poor standard of the longer races here, maybe they just go so slow that anything with a half decent miler's pace can pick them off in the straight Hit the Switch has won 3 times over the mile here, including off todays mark. He's had 2 runs back after 16 months away from the track. Beaten 12 lengths on reappearance then ran much better last time, beaten 2 lengths after being hampered, switching and running on well. Could be cherry ripe now Has a great chance if he stays. If he doesn't, well...........something else will probably win !

  13. Re: bbotd 2/6/11

Do we have to make a selection every day? Would prefer not to as will be busy as can be tomorrow and don't really want to make a decision without having at least a glimpse at the market moves.
No.........but you have to make at least 12 in the month to qualify for the table have a look at the rules in the first post of this months tables in the stickies above Oh..........and well done on being the early leader !.............
  14. Re: june 1st bbotd Nott 2.40 - Manoori - win at 6/4 BOG Wm Hill. Lightly raced type who might just be ahead of the handicapper for this 5f sprint handicap Won his maiden at the back end at Wolves by 5 lengths then made his reappearance at York a couple of weeks ago finishing 6th in a slightly better race than this. He was on the 'worse' side in a big field and suffered from bunching on that side, got clear and ran on. The 2nd, 3rd and 5th all won next time out, so the form looks good. To be honest my usual style is to look for something to beat the favourite in handicaps, but although there's a couple I fancy here EW, I just think the selection is probably better than these. I also think he'll improve for stepping up to 6 furlongs but should be ok on this stiffer track than York, and his class should see him home over 5f today
