  1. Re: Problem on Post Site ? Just as a follow up............. I've clicked on Odds Comparison and Latest Shows on tonight's cards and there's no odds shown there either I've been into the Betting site and there's no odds on the racecards there The only place I can find the odds is by clicking on Members Club Content on the racecard on the Betting Site then selecting 'Betting' which opens the odds comparison page............

  2. I've looked in on the Racing Post site a few times today and there are no Odds showing on the racecards..........you know, where it says Best Odds or where you choose your preferred bookie It's just blank............ I've tried it signed in and signed out, refreshed page umpteen times........... Anyone else noticed this today ? I'm on a new laptop so I get paranoid when something isn't right in case there's something wrong with my new laptop..............:eek:D

  3. Re: BBOTD > Wednesday 3rd July Change of scenery...........think I might have a few weeks on the group races and start looking at the 2yo on days when there's no big races Chep 6.10 - Storm Trooper - win at Evs bog Wm Hill Great name, I really hope this one turns out to be a good one ! Hannon-Hughes combo in a maiden race where the ones that have run don't look up to much and the yards providing the newcomers are not noted for first time out winners Hannon does, however, get his share, tho' his horses often improve for a run Hughes is here instead of Kempton Bound to go off odds on so Evens looks fair !

  4. Re: BBOTD > Tuesday 2nd July Bath 7.00 - Nateeja - win at 7/4 bog PP Beat main market rival last time out and no reason why the placings should be reversed. A 3lb pull might not be enough as my horse looks lkely to be better suited by the slither shorter trip and te firm ground Not sure Zenafire will be suited by this longer trip Backing M Johnson's 3yo stayers is usually a good policy but his representative here, Moaning Butcher, looks particularly useless My filly looks the safest option !

  5. Re: BBOTD > Monday 1st July 3.30 Ponty - Huffoof - win at 85/40 bog betvictor Front runner who should get an easy lead here with 3 hold up horses in opposition Has won at the track and should be suited by the ground Penalty for winning last time out but I think the way the race should unfold might be more important than the weights Centred is the favourite and rightly so - drops in class and is another course winner who should be suited by this 12 furlongs. My concern is that she appeared to be caught a bit flat footed in a tactical race last time and the same could happen again if my filly gets first run from the front

  6. Re: BBOTD Sunday 23rd June 3.35 Curragh - Princess Highway - win at 7/2 bog wm hill Two of the three market leaders (the overnight fave Aive Alive Oh is a non runner !) finished 1st and 2nd in last years Oaks, but neither of them have won in 11 runs since between them Might be worth looking outside the Oaks form and Princess Highway is a useful type, winner of last years Ribblesdale, She disappointed on seasonal debut but was reportedly in season, Now gets the first time blinkers. God chance for her group one win.

  7. Re: BBOTD - Saturday 29th June Newm 2,55 - I'm Your Man - win at 4/1 bog bet365 Only 4 runners now for the Fred Archer, which doesn't seem to be quite the race it used to be years ago My selection comes over from France. In itself that looks like a god omen because there are lots of Listed races in France and the prize money is much better They probably think it's easier to win over here ?............. Harris Tweed will take them along but he seems t have lost his zip and usually gets caught nowadays where in the past he would have made all and stayed on to the finish Cameron Highland appears to need softish ground Lost In he Moment looks like he needs an extra half mile So this could be an easy Listed race to win. My selection has already won at this level, and was beaten just over 2L in a group 2 last time To be fair, all his best form is on soft ground as well, but then it always seems to be soft in France, so maybe that's just what he's run on. Maybe they've over here for better ground ?

  8. Re: BBOTD - Friday 28th June Newc 7.15 - Dark orchid - EW at 10/1 bog Wm Hill Had some useful form in decent races in France last year and won at Listed level Used as a pacemaker at Meydan and got well beat in a couple of runs Came to UK and finished 3rd in a Listed race at Warwick a couple of weeks ago, pulling hard and fading in the finish With a run under her belt she may be a bit less headstrong now and come on for the run Coquet has just come out of the race and all the odds have shortened............grrrrrrrrrrr

  9. Re: Best Bet Of The Day ~ Saturday 22nd June Ascot 3.05 - Dandino - win at 12/1 bog bet365 I can see one of the outsiders winning this The current fave, Ektihaam, looks to be improving and won well over CD last time out but very much had the run of the race with an uncontested lead in a small field and with Hanagan riding a brilliant tactical race. Today he has another front runner in Universal and I'm hoping they take each other on early in the race and set it up for a stalker Dandino finished just behind Universal at Newmarket but he had loomed up looking like the best horse in the race until just outbattled in the finish. With that run uner his belt I feel he could provide an upset here He's a CD and group 2 winner

  10. Re: BBOTD > Friday 21st June Asc 3.05 - Mustashaded - win at 8/1 bog boylesports Going to take on the short price fave - Battle of Marengo ran well in the Derby but Derby horses have a poor record here, presumably because the two races are so close together and the Derby is always a hard race. Mustashaded is unbeaten and looked very impressive winning a handicap last time. A few of these were decent two year olds but might be vulnerable to a late developer improving past them All the other horses in the race were beaten last time out...........and whilst the favourite is the class horse, if he flops, my horse has as good a chance as any of the others

  11. Re: BBOTD - Thursday 20th July 5.00 - Indian chief - win at 6/1 bog bet365 Finished 3rd in the Dante..........went off favourite and looked the winner until idling or tiring in the finish and being overtaken by Libertarian and Trading Leather. Libertarian finished 2nd in the Derby which franks the Dante form. The thought is that maybe Indian chief made his run too soon that day and hopefully they can hold on to him a bit longer and thery've fitted the hood which might prevent him idling when he hits the front (OK, if !)

  12. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 19th June Asc 2.30 - Gale force ten - win at 5/1 bog bet365 placed in the french and irish guineas, drops in class today not worried about the drop in trip as O'brien knows how to place his horses at Royal ascot and this one is a good traveller with a good turn of foot Joseph has picked this one (presumably) tho' they got it wrong in this race last year with the second string winning at big odds

  13. Re: BBOTD > Tuesday 18th June Asc 3.45 - Mshawish - EW at 33/1 Stan James Following french raiders in UK group races is not a bad policy even if you do it blindly Mshawish was a leading fancy for the French 2000 but he didn't run and went straight to the Jockey Club where he finished 4th It's widely accepted that the Jockey Club winner is the best 3yo in Europe and he was 4l behind him...............how good is that relative to the English and irish form ? Obviously we'll find out today but 33/1 looks big Reverts to the mile today and that might be his best trip

  14. Re: BBOTD - Saturday 15th June Bath 4.15 - Dali's Lover - win 5/1 bog bet365 Only 4 runners here and this one is currently the outsider of the field but I think has as good a chance as any of the others Has already won over this trip on good to firm and drops down to class 5 today after running in a couple of better races. Didn't stay a stiff 14 furlongs last time at Sandown so the shorter trip should help

  15. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 12th June Hayd 3.20 - Argent Knight - win at 3/1 bog bet365 Has looked a different proposition this season stepping up in trip markedly from his maiden races last year They got a decent mark by running over the wrong trip ? He won on his handicap debut then came 2nd to a bit of a hotpot at Sandown Looks an out and out stayer. With a couple of todays runners looking to front run hopefully he can sit in behind and pull clear when stamina becomes the issue

  16. Re: BBOTD - Monday 10th June 3.15 Bri - Dandy - win at 11/10 bog wm hill Only 4 runners now Dandy has won his last 2, good claimer negates most of the rise in weights, acts on firm ground and should be able to get an easy lead today and this track suits front runners Everything in his favour really

  17. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Solwhit finished 2nd in the French champion hurdle yesterday Diakali (Mullins-Walsh) won the Juvenile champion race Must say though that i can't get too excited about the French jumps championships in the middle of summer...............:unsure

  18. Re: Handicaps I'm always very wary of older horses who constantly slide down the weights until they win then go back up.............the pundits will say things like 'he's still very well handicaped on his old form'...... But I always think of these horses as being in long term decline and if they've got down to 64 and won they'll still be in decline and will probably need to be 60 before they win again...........so the fact that they've now been put back up to 70 just prolongs the time until their next win I did a bit of reseaarch on AW handicap winners a few years ago..............unfortunately I no longer have it because it was on my old laptop and not backed up.......... However i think the conclusion I came to was that in class 6 it was about 50-50 between horses that were higher than their last win and horses that were lower In class 5 and above it was horses that were higher than their last win who won more than horses that were lower The ideal scenario was a horse that was higher than it's last win but lower than it's last run................ie it was still progressing up the weights over the long term but had temporarily gone back down pending it's next win

  19. Re: BBOTD Sunday 9th June Nott 3.45 - Taurus twins - win at 13/2 bog bet365 Won this race last year coming off a 10 length defeat in his previous run and arrives here today in much better form than that Was only beaten a length last time over 6F..............he's probably better at todays 5F these days as he hasn't won over 6F for over 4 years Runs off a 4lb lower mark than for last years win Has a good course at Nottingham with 3 wins from 4 visits and generally seems best on flat tracks

  20. Re: Handicaps I'm a lot happier trying to assess suitability to conditions than I am trying to work out wether horses are improving or not Take the 3.45 at Nottingham today Look at Demora. Won it's last hcap by over 3 lengths at the end of last season off 70 and went up 10lbs First run this season finished 2nd off new mark of 80 and went up another 4 lbs So it's now running off 14lbs higher than it's last win This is what i find the most difficult thing to assess..............what is it's chance off 14lbs higher than it's ever won off.? My inclination is usually to oppose those horses.........and frankly it's why I generally do best in the lower end handicaps where you don't get these horses very often who appear to be improving rapidly but you're faced with trying to assess by how much In the same race you have as current joint favourite Sir Maximilian. He won by nearly a length off 84, went up 4lbs, then was beat in a much better race off his new mark of 88 and was dropped to 87. Of the two joint favourites I'd rather be on Sir Maximilian assuming both horses are suited to todays conditions A lot of people would go for the one that appears to be improving rapidly but that's the bit i find difficult to weigh up

  21. Re: British Champion Series Racemakers Don't take any lip from those Hoorah Henries !...................:p Hope you enjoy it..............I did see something about it on TV a couple of weeks ago. Looks like an attempt to cash in on the Gamesmaker volunteers from the Olympics, which people got a huge amount from.......so if it takes off it should be great.

  22. Re: BBOTD Saturday 8th June Hayd 3.50 - Ladies are Forever - win at 9/2 bog bet365 Listed sprint for fillies and mares My selection has to give 4 lbs plus to the field but she is clear top rated on OR by 6lb plus on all the other runners (2 NR) She's been in grand form this year, winning 2 Listed races on the AW and breaking a Lingfield course record in one of them Was well beaten in the G2 Duke of York stakes last time but this is a lot easier and against her own sex Has won 3 times at Listed level and at group 3
