  1. Re: BBOTD Friday 7th March 4.50 Sand - Fight Commander - ew at 16/1 bog boyles I don't think the short priced favourite, Mountain king, is a good thing here carrying a double penalty and giving a stone to the other runners. His second penalty was for a race where he had a lot of luck, leader fell, next leader idled........he looked booked for 3rd My horse makes his hurdling debut after running in a few points (placed 3 times) then finishing 3rd in a bumper at Wincanton, He was staying on at the finish that day and todays stiffer track should play to his strengths as he should be staying on up the hill.

  2. Re: BBOTD > Thursday March 6th Sou 2.20 - Mixed Message - win at 9/2 bog wm hill One of the things I look out for at Southwell is milers running over 11 furlongs Particularly if they've won on fibresand over a mile My selection fits the bill. He comes here fresh off a break having won here off a similar break last February and he won his last race (hurdles)

  3. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread

Cirrus Des Aigles (11/8 WillHill) back in action at Chantilly (1.50) today. Up against Ocovango and Zazou amongst others. Will be interested to see how he runs.
Counting yesterday Cirrus has run approximately 10 times without a recent run (within a couple of months prior)...........and has been beaten every time Yet he still goes off favourite on his seasonal debut..........
  4. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 5th March 7.00 Kemp - Indian Affair - EW at 9/1 bog PP has been in decent nick lately with 3 respectable runs over CD off this mark without winning Does suggest that the handicapper has got him in his grip But he might just do a little better tonight with a stall 1 draw and no obvious opposition for the lead Might just be able to save a little energy for the last half furlong and run on to the line (I was going to post this last night but I read Lodge's write up on Alnoomas and went and had a closer look at his form and thought, blimey !........that one is going to win, but I'd already missed the price even last night!........so I changed my mind and decided to give my selection a miss.......:lol). I've decided to go ahead with my original selection because the price has not shortened due to the plunge on Alnoomas Good luck with that one, Lodge !

  5. Re: BBOTD > Tuesday March 4th Sou 4.40 - Sir Geoffrey - ew at 12/1 bog bet365 One of several CD winners in the field who are in decent form.........he won on his last visit here and returns after a couple of runs on polytrack Looks reasonably handicapped, 3 lbs above his last win, a race he won by a length Plum draw in 1 though to be fair most of the fancied ones are drawn low CD winner, low draw, front runner, reasonably handicapped..........that's what you want over 5F here and he's the biggest price of the ones that fit the bill

  6. Re: BBOTD Monday 3rd March 3.10 Kemp - Khutze - ew at 33/1 bog bet365 Ran about 6l behind one of todays favourites, Watersmeet, when both horses were on debut last time out My selection was noticeable green that day and might come on a lot for the outing. The Johnston horse ran 2nd and as usual from that yard, semed ready to go so might not improve so much There's a fair chance my selection will be closer to Watersmeet today and if he is then he should be in the shake up

  7. Re: BBOTD Saturday 1st March Ling 4.00 - Woolfall Sovereign - ew at 10/1 bog bet365 Bit of an old timer now but still capable of good form Dual CD winner, he's won in this class and off a higher mark before so he's not being asked to do anything he hasn't done before Third run back from a couple of months off and first time he's had his ideal conditions this season. He's usualy held up and comes with a late run and there's a fair bit of pace on here which might suit the closers Got a few doubts about the market leaders Taajub - up in class, much harder race than he won last time Silken express - better at southwell ? Ballista and addictive dream - likely to take each other on up front Picansort - more at home in class 4 Diamond Charlie - more at home in class 4

  8. Re: BBOTD > Friday February 28th Donc 3.10 - Time of my Life - ew at 33/1 bog betvictor 8 runner novice hurdle with a couple of fancied ones and the rags As an EW shot I quite like my selection - he's 3rd best on RPRs and has run in two novice hurdles. He was beaten around 30L each time but they were hot races. He finished 5th at catterick and 3 of the 4 in front of him have won since with the other one running Cheltenham hope First Mohican to 4 lengths. In his second race he finished amongst some decent horses behind a runaway winner and triumph hurdle fancy, Pearl castle It might be that one or two in todays race could be good but the rest don't look up to much

  9. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 26th February Kemp 7.20 - Radebe - ew at 20/1 bog bet365 Fancy this one to put up a much better performance tonight on his 2nd start First run = green, got outpaced That was a decent maiden and the ones ahead of him who have run since have franked the form Up in trip tonight and the trainer is in form I think he might leave his debut run behind in a field with a few newcomers, a few no hopes and not many with a realistic chance

  10. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 25th February Catt 4.50 - Agent louise - ew at 25/1 bog bet365 What a strange race......:eek We have a well odds on favourite and all the other runners bar one have proven themselves to be useless The one that hasn't is Pulio's selection, Simmply Sam........and I can see a point in picking him on that basis. However he's making his racecourse debut at age 7 which suggests he's not been crying out to go racing.......... So it's a nice puzzle to look for an EW shot.........looking for anything in their past runs which might suggest that one of them could be placed today. Even if the odds on fave wins, two of the others are going to be placed and you never know.........the odds on shot could fall, be brought down, run out, break down, refuse to start............this jumps game is great for taking on short priced favourites ! My selection was beaten 50 lengths last time and 48 lengths in her only previous hurdle race. That looks shocking but it's within the same ball park as the rest of these. I think my horse might do better as she drops in class from a class 3 novice hurdle. Today is also 'mares only' and her two runs have been in open company. The Post also suggests that todays better ground might suit her after running on soft and heavy My horse is currently 4th fave. The 2nd fave looks OK but I think the 3rd fave is a short runner who might struggle up in trip...........so if they all run to the market positions apart from the 3rd fave I think my horse will defo be placed !

  11. Re: BBOTD Monday 24th Feb 2014 5.30 Wolv - Mount Glenn - 13/2 sportingbet Maiden race with a short price favourite, Coillte Calain, who finished 2nd last time and appearing unlucky My selection ran in that same race and finished 3rd but was about 4 lengths behind todays fave Going to take the chance that the Johnston runner will be able to turn around the deficit Todays favourite has looked a tricky ride having wandered around when in front so they now try and hold him up and come with a late run............but he's tended to run on too late and look 'unlucky'. Dropping back in trip today which on the face of it shouldn't suit if they keep to the same tactics. Small field might not help either if he can't get cover My selection is less experienced having had only 2 runs.........I think he'll get an uncontested lead today and the drop in trip looks ideal as he faded in the final furling last time Fanning is one of the best front running jocks around and I can see him stacking them up with the favourite pulling his jock's arms out at the back of the field..........Fanning kicks off the last bend, zooms clear........fave pulls out and thunders down the centre of the track but just fails to get there........he's 'unlucky' again and goes off at a short price again next time !

  12. Re: BBOTD Sunday 23rd feb 2.00 Towc - Blue cove - win at 9/2 bog wm hill Still a maiden after 11 runs but his best 2 efforts have come over this CD, beaten under 3 lengths both times he's run here, in both cases in similar grade races to today He's only a pound lower in the weights than last time so it's a fair - if he couldn't win either of those why would he win today ? The Heavy ground could be the key as both previous runs here were on better ground. He handles 'heavy' and in those previous runs he was staying on up the hill determinedly. 3 miles on heavy ground at Towcester is about as stiff attest of stamina as you can get over hurdles and a determined plodder who handles an uphill finish will always have a chance. There are a few in here who are going to cry enough half way up this hill !

  13. Re: BBOTD Saturday 22nd 3.30 Ling - Chokie royale - ew at 10/1 bog betvictor In tremendous form at the moment, winning a stakes race at Wolverhampton last time very easily. The 7L second has since come out and won a class 2 handicap. My selection has never finished out of the first 3 on the AW (10 runs) and should get this 10F trip at Lingfield, which is an 'easy' track. It's his first attempt at the trip. Grandeur has a lot in hand on the figures but comes here after a break with no AW experience and you feel that this must be a warm up for something - Dubai maybe. Hopefully he's not 100%

  14. Re: BBOTD > Friday February 21st Ling 4.00 - Living the Life - EW at 14/1 bog betvictor Best race on the card - a 7F class 4 handicap My selection is still lightly raced with 15 career starts. All 3 of her career wins have come over todays trip and has won twice on polytrack Came back from a couple of months break here at lingfield last time out and finished 7th, beaten 4L, in a race that is proving a good source of subsequent winners and which was run in a fast time. Had the widest draw that day and used up energy coming round the field to lead. Drawn in 3 today and should be able to sit in First time visor Has dropped a couple of pounds and this mark looks well within reach based on a couple of previous handicap performances

  15. Re: BBOTD > Wednesday February 19th Kemp 7.25 - Sulis Minerva - ew at 22/1 sportingbet bit of a feeling for an outsider Everything is in her favour here - CD winner, last win off 5lbs higher, won in this class, has a good draw So if she runs somewhere near her best she should be competitive....... She's had a couple of runs over 5F since having 6 months off. She's been well beaten but tonight's trip suits much better as she gets outpaced over 5F. Liam Keniry takes over from an apprentice which is a big help as she can be a bit tricky and needs putting in the right place

  16. Re: BBOTD > Tuesday February 18th 3.00 Sou - Kastela stari - EW at 66/1 bog bet365 Maiden race here with 3 horses at shortish prices and everything else out with the washing There are doubts about all 3 short priced ones - one making debut, one not sure to get the trip and one who appeared to back out of a battle last time So I'm looking at the big priced ones and one catches my eye......my selection has had a couple of runs in flat maidens. Last time was hampered and finished 12L 4th......but the odds on winner was 9L ahead of the 2nd. Take him out and my horse was 3L 3rd in a maiden, which would put him at much shorter odds here !

  17. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread I see they've been messing about on the RP site again.....all the tabs appear to have changed and got bigger Haven't noticed anything else apart from when you log in it says the level of membership in your name tab They can't resist fiddling around !...........:lol

  18. Re: BBOTD 17th Feb Wolv 4.45 - Swiss cross - ew at 8/1 bog ladbrokes Cracking sprint handicap Swiss cross won over Cd last time out in a fast time. A couple of the ones in behind re-oppose on 5lbs better terms but he won fairly convincingly and might come on a bit for what was his first run in 8 months He tends to run in behind the pace and there's a few front runners here amongst the fancied ones....hopefully they'll take each other on and leave it up to a late finisher Sheesh......just for a minute there it was 10/1......now gone to 8/1 best price.......:@

  19. Re: BBOTD > Sunday February 16th Kemp 4.40 - Dispour - EW at 25/1 bog bet365 All eyes will be on My Tent Or Yours and he's currently 2/9 and obviously should win However his short odds are leaving some tasty EW prices abut the others and you never know how the race might unfold with quite a big field for Kempton and a wide range of abilities.......potential for trouble in running, hampering, all sorts ! My selection has looked a bit of a short runner over hurdles but has won twice where stamina is not an issue - making all on tight tracks and decent ground and he had some fair flat form in France. So I'm thinking he might be a bit more of a Flat horse than most of these and hence more suited to todays race.
