Deauville 1600......Sober 11-4 generally  . The Good Man will probably start fav he shows a good turn of foot , but tomorrows race is over 1m 6f 1100yds on heavy ground and Sober takes forever to get into gear . Just hope M.Guyon makes his move earlier and drags the finish out of the others and doesn`t give first run to something else and finishes too late again .

Forest   Brighton double for me .
Wouldn`t put anyone off taking a punt on Spurs to beat Utd or Newcastle to shake up City.......Spurs look much better this season and Utd were jammy against Wolves ....City also have had a busy schedule and lost De Bruyne .

.Just another point i have witnessed lately .For the 2nd Sunday running i have watched horses trying to be led up to the tapes in NH races .The horses in question were a long way from the tapes and in both cases sideways on and being mulish with no chance of ever taking part in the race .Yet the starter lifted the tapes , the horses were deemed runners and people on the course will lose their money .Some bookies might return stakes , some might not but people attending will have lost out .........I know this might sound a non starter but to make it fair to everyone why not say on the flat a horse must have covered a furlong before being declared a runner and over the sticks they should have reached the first obstacle (however a refusal at the first still counts as a runner .

Yea, strange. Couple of whips at the furlong marker and imo thought he'd passed the post, but wasn't riding hard last 100 yards. (different race to the quote though)

Sir Mark Prescott will often run his 2 year olds 3 times over 5 furlong trips  .They are usually bred for 10f plus so consequently hardly ever get placed .Gets them a handicap mark for when they run up a sequence in 3 year old handicaps . Plenty of 7f races for 2 year olds which would be more suitable for these horses but thinks long term . Smart planning ? Cheating the system?  which is it ?

Unfortunately we have too many racecourses who are all fighting to survive . They beg for racedays and are granted roo many , Therefore too many races means too few runners , And the age old question still remains . We built all weather tracks because meetings were getting postponed with frosts back in the day , but still continue to use them in spring and summer . Strangely enough there seem to be bigger fields on the all weather also .Until someone looks hard at the racing programme we will always have the same problems .........Ireland have far fewer racecourses and nearly always have decent sized fields , so the answer is there .

Just a note on yesterdays racing . Watch the replay of M Barzalona on Mr Moliere in the 1450 at Deauville . Clearly on the best horse but decided to go for an impossible "gap" on the rails .It seemed he went flat out to go through a non existant gap , made contact with at least one horse infront , lucky not to injure the horses or jockeys in front of him , and was forced to just about pull his horse up . In my mind he gave no thought to the other jockeys or horses in the race . Downfight reckless and dangerous , any body know of any bans handed out ?
