Interesting one! Was heavily backed last time and only lost to a good one. Seems suited by soft ground so that was a question mark for me, but has been very well backed again.

Milton Boy 7:20 Fontwell (25/1 Bet365 BOG). Silly few quid as although he hasn't shown much he is on a lowly mark in a terrible looking race. This is only the 2nd time he'll have raced on good ground and he seemed to like it here over fences (some poor jumps didn't help). 0.25 pts 25/1 BOG P/L: +8.5pts Never looked too happy, might just be useless.

Star of Orion 1.50 Sandown (6/1 Betvictor). Will take on The Brigadier (usually a bad idea) with this one. I backed last time where he ran ok in 2nd and the winner probably benefited from setting the muddling pace at his fav course, should turn that form around 2lb better off. 1pt win 6/1 P/L: +8.75pts.

Forest were looking good until all the subs after an hour or so just killed us.

Forest seem too big at nearly 3/1, Newcastle haven't looked good so far while we've been ok and have plenty of competition for places. 1pt win 14/5 Bet365 P/L: -1.55pts

Market very different from last night where Kweto and Hang in There were 1st and 2nd favs! Vintage Fizz hammered in from 7's into 9/4, clearly they are expecting the extra distance to suit...being 4lb wrong at the weights can't help though.

Pull Again Green 5:10 Worcester (5/1 Bet365). Backed this one a few times without any return and might be a little tricky to catch right. Won at Bangor this time last year by 8L and an excellent runner up to Chianti Classico at Chepstow off level weights. Had a decent spin over hurdles at Cheltenham in April followed by 2 disappointing efforts. Back over fences here, right trip and ground and may have been aimed at this nice little prize (12k to winner). Kinondo Kwento might be better over further and it would be a hell of an effort for Hang in There to win off 159...rest are 4lb+ out of the handicap. 2pts win 5/1 Bet365 P/L: +9.75pts. No complaints really, just wasn't good enough. Thought he had a big chance turning into home straight given he was getting nearly 2 stone from Hang in There but didn't find much. Cut my losses on him now. Market last night was spot on!

I inexplicably backed win only at a huge price at Royal Ascot, finished 3rd but might well have won if not so slowing into stride. 6F should suit better and gets 12lb from the fav here. CHAMPIONSHIP Coventry let me down last week but hopefully they can redeem themselves against what should be one of the weaker teams. 8/11 with Bet365 and their 2 goals ahead early payout, A a few quid on Simms hattrick for fun around 75/1 on exchange. 2pts win Coventry 8/11 P/L: -0.55pts Coventry dominated but somehow needed a 95th min goal to get the win, phew 😋

That was first run after 292 days off and should be sharper here dropped 1lb. Only 6 runners but looks a competitive race, still worth a chance at decent price. 1pt win 8/1 Betfair P/L: +12.75pts. Edit, Betfair have 8/1 so I've cashed out and taken that instead. Ran ok in 2nd

CHAMPIONSHIP. I wasn't going to get involved in the first round of games but I've ended up backing Coventry away to Stoke (9/5 Boylesports). Stoke away wouldn't usually be the best opening day fixture but I've got Coventry as dark horses for the top spots and the home side look very uninspiring and also seem to have a mini injury crisis before the season even starts. Coventry to win 2pts (9/5) P/L: -2pts. Coventry very disappointing, didn't turn up first half, better 2nd half without creating much.

I'm definitely biased as a Forest fan but I've taken Awoniyi for the Golden Boot at 150/1 e/w 1/4 the odds top 4. This obviously hinges on him staying fit as he keeps picking up muscle injuries. If he can keep fit then I'd not be flabbergasted to see him score 20, which would put him in the mix at a huge price.
