I was overrun at work, so didnt get back to.it till near 5. It didn't seem to indicate you have a free bet lying it read more you bet on the next race and if it doesnt win you get your moneyback (not sure if its cash or free bet equivalent), so I didnt want to risk losing a cash bet that I may have missed out on.
Yes the free bet is on the next race so you need to ensure you have put a bet on the next race beforehand or that you are available to put a bet on soon after the winning race. I must admit I was distracted yesterday so forgot to use my free bet on the 4.45 at Newcastle after my selection in the 4.15 won.

Very wise advice from @Bang onalthough if @The Equaliserderives enjoyment from his betting then good luck to him.
Enjoyment from racing is the main objective, if the sole objective is to make a profit then there are much easier ways to do it, for instance the stock market.
Ultimately it is a less than zero sum game, the bookies will always amend the odds to ensure they make a profit.
There will be small number of winners and a much larger number of losers, perversely as more information becomes available and some punters become more skilled it becomes more difficult to make a profit.
Personally, I like my systems to make a profit for 5 years before I put my money down.

It has been included but the non runner has also been included. The P/L is correct (1.80 compared to -1.20 the day before).
