Aintree Saturday October 24 2009

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 Carry your wallet in an inside pocket! Failing that at the moment I would want to keep whichever of the Tom George horses onside in the Old Roan. Im happy to continue laying Tidal Bay until I see some improvement. Im not sure a wind op is the answer to his obvious problems.

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 1.05 Aintree Looks a tricky affair over the minimum distance on very fresh ground which is always immaculate this time of year. Jumping at speed will be key on this flat track. Many of these like cut in the ground & therefore i will rule out Nampour, Zanir, Sunsetten & Front rank. The one i think could surprise is Premier Dane from Nicky Richards stable. After finishing 6th in 2008 County hurdle at Cheltenham, the horse was sent novice chasing where it managed 2 successes at Perth on good ground. it didnt beat much but was a 139 rated hurdler prior & runs off 132 here with a 3lb claimer on board so has obvious claims of making the frame.

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 4.00 Aintree Isnt that lucky This horse appears on my list to follow after it chased home Chapoturgeon at the Festival earlier this year. Had no chance with that one on that day but has a nice introduction tomorrow off top weight & OR 133 the same as its last race when winning at Carlisle over 21f. Richard McGrath retains the ride & has ridden the horse to victory 4 times in 8 races. Abargante formerly with Pipe has now moved north to Peter Monteith & won back in July & obviously retains ability & if back to its best will take a lot of beating.

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 1.40 Aintree Best Actor - lightly raced ten year old that is unexposed over fences, winning on his chase debut in a novices race at Southwell last time out. He hasn't been seen since February but won impressively last time out and may have more to offer if a mark of 144 proves fair. Lacdoudal - credible third behind Hennessy last time out but Richard Johnson who usual partners isn't on today and has been replaced with an apprentice. Acts at this track and has won off higher marks but may prefer a more thorough test of stamina these days. Kilbeggan Blade - progressive chaser last term for Tom George but pulled up in the National and no better than mid-div in the Bet 365 Gold Cup Chase at Sandown last time out. Is 3 lbs higher than last win, would prefer a bit more rain but capable of winning this. Simon - unseated in the 2008 National and pulled up in the William Hill trophy at the Festival this year when last seen. As a result has slipped 3 lbs below last winning mark although profile suggests may need a run. Fundamentalist - 4 lbs lower than when landing this race last year but has failed to follow up in seven attempts since. Has a patchy completion rate and a risky proposition even if conditions known to suit. Aleron - 6 lbs higher than when winning over course and distance in May but that win came in lower grade. Recent chase efforts nothing to write home about and although race fit following recent flat runs, passed over. Bob Bob Bobbin - 9 lbs higher than latest win but seems to be a Chepstow specialist. Not disgraced in few runs since, including over CD when behind Aleron, latest, but another that probably wants bit of rain. Lysander - 3 lbs higher than when winning over fences at Bangor last March. Has won over this track and distance over hurdles and seemed to benefit from being dropped back to this trip on last start. Best Actor 7/1 SJ, 0.75 pt Kilbeggan Blade 15/2 SJ, 0.25 pt

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 14.15 Aintree Five out of the eight runners in the race have won over course and distance in the past including last years winner of this race Knowhere and the winner of this race 2 years ago in Monet's Garden. Knowhere has only had the three runs since then and is back down to a mark of 154 which he won this race off of last year. All three runs since have been over further but he seems best suited to 20/21 furlongs. He is 1/1 over course and distance so he has a chance to maintain that 100% record today. The softer the going today the better for him and with it classed as Good as the moment I feel it should be fine for him. His jumping needs to be back to his best today as his jumping definately let him down LTO in the Grand National and he was eventually pulled up. Tartak also has a 100% record over course and distance when winning LTO in a Class 1 Novices Chase off a mark of 147. Won very easily that day and with he could have more to offer with only a 7lb hike in the weights for that win. Tidal Bay is too short for me despite winning over course and distance twice. Monet's Garden has won over course and ditance twice out of 5 attempts and as previously mentioned, won this race 2 years ago. Does go well fresh but I am willing to ignore this one today despite being 3lb lower than her last win and 6lb lower than when winning this race 2 years ago. Was only 7/12 in the race last year and was well beaten when running off the same mark as the year before. 1 pt E/W Knowhere @ 8/1 (Paddy Power - BOG) 1 pt win Tartak @ 7/2 (Paddy Power - BOG)

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 13:05 - 1233.GIF Nampour TBP @ 7/4 B365 Upped in class LTO and although 5th of 9 it wasn't a terrible run as says he hit a few hurdles, if he can put that right should get alot closer, same trip again this afternoon, has a 10lb calimer on board Giles Hawkins who has already shown good use for the stable when saddling Templer to victory twice. 13:40 - 441.GIF Best Actor TBP @ 11/8 BET365 Won in fine style LTO when hacking up by 18 lengths, given a 20lb rise for that which does look big I must admit but the horse looks to have plenty of ability, its a strong jockey booking in Barry Geraghty and I think he'll stil be good enough to fill the places. 14:15 - 239.GIF Knowhere TBP @ 13/8 B365 Knowhere is still going strong for Nigel Twiston-Davies at the age of 11 and I think he'll run another big race this afternoon, was last seen in the Grand National where he was pulled up, actually won this race last year, the ground may not be ideal for the horse but he may stilll make the frame. 1pt treble @ 16/1

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 2.15 Aintree - Old Roan Chase I wasn't impressed with Tidal Bay at all last year and theres more questions than answers surrounding this one at present so its a no go at 11/4 personally. I was tempted by Don't Push it who acts here but perhaps he wants three miles, so the lightly raced Tartak gets the nod today. He was fifth in the Arkle at this years festival but overall has a good strike rate over fences and seems to be progressing. He won a Grade 2 novice chase over course and distance when last seen but drops back into handicap company here. Having slammed Deep Purple by seven lengths last time out (form franked when second landed Grade 2 next time out with Arkle third, 150-rated Planet of Sound, back in third) he looks capable of defying this mark today. 7/2 Bet 365.

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 2:15 Aintree: Monet's Garden 3pts win 11/1 Sportingbet & Kicks For Free 1pt win 11/2 Paddy Power Monet's Garden is approaching the veteran stage now, but could roll back the years here. He goes very well fresh, is handicapped to go close, and likes the course, going, and distance. Kicks for Free is the opposite to Monet's Garden as he is just starting out over fences and although final run of last season was disappointing - could improve this year and not over burdened with a mark of 147.

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 Tartak/Monets Garden 2.15 Aintree Doubts about many of these and the progressive up and coming Tartak could be the main danger to Monets Garden and Tidal Bay. That was a 7 length C/D winner off 147 and is only up 7lb today to 154. It is 1-1 at Aintree and 1-1 on good ground and gets the trip well. Tidal Bay was disappointing last season and has a lot to prove. There are too many question marks surrounding that horse to get involved at 3-1. Probably the best horse in the field but not shown the best attitude. Has had an operation over the summer but problems may be in its head. Monets Garden goes well here and won a Grade 2 at Huntingdon in December to show it still has ability and a desire to win at its ripe old age of 11. Trip is ideal and it has 5 wins from 10 races on good ground. Top weight and concedes 1lb to Tidal Bay and 5lb to Tartak, capable of winning but needs to be fresh and at its best. With doubts about Tidal Bay I'm going to back Tartak and Monets Garden: 8pts WIN Tartak 7-2 Stan James BOG 2pts WIN Monets Garden 11-1 Stan James BOG

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 1.05 Aintree European dream looks a big price at 8/1 who has been kept fit on the flat in races far too big for him but on jump form could have a chance having won off a mark of 125, rated 130 today but useful claimer takes off 5lb and has been running in much better races than this. 0.25pt e/w European dream 8/1 bet365 2.15 Aintree I am gonna give the old boy tidal bay a chance all be it slightly out of form back end of last year but has apparently had a wind op which should help also handicapper has given him a break and will probably prefer this slightly easier goings. 1pt win tidal bay 3/1 tote

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 250 Aintree : Victory Parade EW This one ran a strange sort of race last time out after a nice debut, thought it was worth mentioning today as its under rated in the betting market, the Curtis stable ahve had some nice horses this season already and wouldnt be surprised if this one bounced back and got in the frame at a nice price (16/1 available at the moment BlSq, Freds)

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 2.15 Old Roan Chase 3 of my horses to follow line up here in Three Mirrors, Tidal Bay & Tartak. Three Mirrors ran over 3m last week at Cheltenham & as usual brought up the rear until running on towards the end, typical of a Ferdy Murphy horse being lined up for something else. I can't see it today although its low weight may get it a bit closer today. Tidal Bay used to be in my top 3 horses but sadly lost its way last season & has since had a wind op. The horse likes it here with a record of 2-1-1-1-5 in its 5 runs. The trip is perfect & hopefully they wont go for the 3m this season as the horse probably doesnt stay. Tartak won here at the National meeting in April & is the one to beat for me. Its undoing today may just be the ground as it would prefer a bit of cut. Tidal Bay 11/4 Bet365

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 Hi Bowles I live about 5 mins from the Aintree course and just to add we've had a bit of rain overnight and it's currently on and off at the moment! there will be some juice in the ground so it may have come in time for Tartak! I think it'll be kid gloves with Tidal Bay today after it's Op as they won't want to push it too soon with a whole season of top races to go! It can still run a decent race but they won't exert it too much today and for that reason and the rain coming in time it has to be Tartak for me! :ok

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009

42 on betfair at the moment mate
yep, Premier Dane needs good ground, any change would be against it:@ Still think Tidal Bay will run a big race today here but Tartak does come into play if the ground has any cut, i will watch the 1st race & then decide whether to cover the bet

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 1.05 Aintree INDIAN GROOM Time to get with Howard Johnson Grey Gelding, he brings a solid form to the table hence why he shoulders top weight, but more imprortaly he seems to best caught fresh his win first time up at Market Rasen last season was impressive. He appears to handle any type of ground so at around 7/1 hes a recommedation.

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 Not bad 3rd :ok

1.05 - Sunsetten @15.00 EW Paddypower Henry Daly has by far the best record here at Aintree in this race for his hurdlers 3 from 8 (38%) in the last 5 years. Sunsetten has proven form in good and soft ground and has a good amateur taking off 7lbs. I think it will run well here! :ok

hard luck with the trebel with the middle leg only letting you down. he seemed to be travelling so well too, jumped cleanly and as soon as the commentator said Barry Geraghty and showing him some light he must have pulled up and couldnt see him again :(

Re: Aintree Saturday October 24 2009 Cheers for the comments and well done to Steve too, watched the race earlier and thought Monets Garden ran them ragged and kicked on again at the end of the race. Tidal Bay was not disgraced but Tartak was really disappointing, seemed to start off jumping badly and then just went back through the field. Still not sure if Tidal Bay will be one to avoid or keep on side this season????????
