I'm going to side with Esoterica in the last race here. Most of his good form is on soft ground and over 8f. His handicap mark is verging on his high side, but Gary Bartley takes what could be a crucial 5lbs off. LTO at Muss over 7f, he was staying on late suggesting this mile will suit. Probably pitched in against company too hot on reappearance in class 2 maiden in April stepped down in trip on fast ground. Eased in grade tonight and 2lbs lower in the handicap than reappearance run - now running from what appears a fair mark based on maiden promise. Return to 7f a positive, should strip fitter for reappearance run and if taking to the softer surface could be overpriced at current 16/1 (William Hill).
