Best bet of the day 30th April

Recommended Posts

Yarmouth 6.00 Mutheeb should have a fair chance on taking this for go dolphin, he won a nice looking maiden at lingfield in september with many horses behind him winning and many many being placed after this race, progress over winter can be expected and of course detori riding a positive. 1pt win Mutheeb

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April Hereford 4.05 - Naxox I'm taking a chance with this one, as I believe he may be running into form. Trained by Venetia Williams. He's 8 years old, but relatively lightly raced. Having only seen a racecourse 10 times, winning just the once on similar going and at the distance. He has to make up over 11 lengths last time out when 3rd of 11 to Huquenot, but meets him again with a 13ib pull for the beating, which on the face of it, doesn't seem enough. However, the fact I believe Naxox may be running into form, makes it my selection. I also like the claimer on board, W. Biddick Showing only 7/1 with Paddy Power, 10.5 on Betfair, whilst 10/1 with Bet365 1pt E.W. :hope I will be playing!

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April Redcar 3:40 Cornish Castle. 1 point LAY Has won its last two races, coming from behind each time. And with a smallish field today you certainly can't rule him out of being able to do that again. But I did tend to feel that last time he really should not have won last time, and stronger riding (and maybe some luck) saw him home. Since the first of those two wins, he has gone up 10lbs in the weights, and bearing in mind that both races were close, this seems quite a rise. There are quite a few potentially interesting opponents in the race today, and I believe one of them should be be able to capitalise on that.

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April 530 Punchestown - Fiveforthree 1pt WIN Taking the selection to pick up from where the stable left off yesterday (when scoring a treble) and land this Grade 1 event here. His run LTO at Aintree was absolutely no surprise to me, as I tipped him on the day saying.

250 - Fiveforthree WIN Can overcome a long layoff at this level and score in this high class company after a useful reappearance 3 weeks ago at Wexford. No guarantees that the Cheltenham Hurdle horses are going to be at their absolute best after a hard race last time, and its worth taking them on with this one, who was prepared for this race rather than Cheltenham after a setback at the beginning of the season. Willie Mullins has him spot on now, and could be ready to take his place at the top of Willie Mullins already brimming with talent hurdling ranks. Ground will not be a problem as long as it doesnt firm out and trip will also suit!! All positives for me. Young Townend is also a potential class act as a jockey, and Ruby would have ridden if it weren't for his love for Celestial Halo.
I was proven right on that occasion, well almost right as he was narrowly touched off. Most of the others in the race have had a long hard season and Fiveforthree should still be fresh enough to give a big account of himself.

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April 5.20 Redcar Citizenship - the favourite got the job done very well last time when stepped up in trip on his handicap debut but I need points and if he flops, Citizenship may win. He was stepped up in class last time out at Leicester up against some very decent horses, but drops back down to a more realistic level here. He is proven in the grade and racing off a mark only a few lbs above his last win. He was a ready winner at Wolverhampton in Feb and will at least be race sharp for his last outing. 1 pt win.

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April 7.00 YARMOUTH - KING COLOMBO (1m, CLASS 5, G/FIRM) I noted this horse last June at Kempton when it just failed to last home in a 1m handicap off a rating of 80. Following that the stable stepped the horse up in trip which surprised me a bit finishing 10th at Sandown off 83, then reverted back to 1m at sandown again finishing 6th, then stepped up again running poorly over 10 & 12f, finishing with a decent effort over a 1m when 3rd to Casino Night at Newmarket in October (OR72). It races today off OR70 which is a definite chance of a winning mark for me. It was visored for 1st time on last outing but doesnt have the headgear on today. They have out a 7lb claimer on board who hasnt registered a winner yet & the Trainer has a strike rate of 4-64 at the track. Those stats do not impress if you compare with the chances of Chris Walls horse in the race however the OR of 70 is the interest for me here. YARMOUTH 7.00 KING COLOMBO EW

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April 455 Punchestown SILVER BIRCH e/w going with an old favourite here again, ran creditably and travelling very well at Aintree for a long time before coming down, also was 2nd here a few years ago to Spot The Difference. Garde Champ has every right to be fav, but carrying 12s7 and giving 9lbs away it gives Silver Birch the chance to sign off the season with a massive performance, and possibly lead to a xcountry campaign next year to rival JP's supremacy in these events.

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April 4.30 Folkestone Golden Pool Win Favourite seems very short priced for what he has achieved so far and coming back from long break, so event looks pretty open IMO. There are a few I like the look of here but due to timings in the competition I will go for the biggest price of my fancies Golden Pool. The form of the nursery in which she finished 4th in December has been boosted by the subsequent form of a number of horses and the 2lb drop in the weights today could see this one go very close if straight after a break. Stable haven't been regularly amongst the winners but had a nice 17/2 first yesterday. Each way bet recommended but all in for the win for thread purposes.

This one is a non-runner BH, so I'll have this one instead please.... 4.30 Folkestone Sitting at the bottom of the table heading into the last day I'm going for a long-shot here to try get me off the bottom and off the mark for the month at the final time of asking. If I believed in God I would be seeking divine intervention, but I don't, so instead I'll pray to Dane O'Neill, who has already done a godly act for me today in jocking Jamie Spencer off Annabelle's Charm in the 5.05 :lol Golden Pool competes in a class 6 handicap here where form can be suspect and they're betting 4/5 the field about a favourite that, although from a powerful yard, looks poor value at his present odds given his previous form (or lack of it). The field is littered with unexposed horses, and at the prices, I think the Simon Callaghan runner is worth a little punt. She showed little on her first two starts but then ran up against horses that can be regarded as fair lower grade handicappers in the context of this race - the likes of Lexlenos and Princess Cagliari (winners off 67 and 69 respectively) and horses like Bobs Dreamflight and Diamond Twister, who have been running to marks of around 70 ish in handicaps when narrowly defeated. She was then allocated an official rating of 58 and made her handicap debut in a Great Leighs nursery the following month, and that rating seems fair given the form of that Kempton race. She ended up finishing 4th at Great Leighs, but shaped as if a step up in trip, which she gets here, would suit, and the form of that nursery has actually worked out quite well with several sbusequent winners emerging. Newlyn Art (1st) and Imaginary Diva (2nd) have picked up handicaps since but the bits of form that look especially interesting are that of the sixth and seventh - Haalak and Speak The Truth, who were comfortably held by the selection but have picked up races off 54 and 68 in the aftermath of that race. Golden Pool returns from a break here and the market hasn't been particularly positive about her chances, but I am definately willing to invest a little at 25/1 and take the risk as she does look well handicapped even before her latest 2 lb drop in the handicap is accounted for. Win.

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April Punch 5.30 Powerstation 1 pt win. I think in time 543 could well be a stayer but despite his pilot who will give him every chance of getting this trip, on this testing ground it wont be easy. Instead I like a proven stayer. Granted he doesnt have a great win record but he often runs some top class races in tough races. He showed that at the fest this year again when third albiet miles behind the class acts. His run afterwards over an inadequate trip was also good and he has run well enough on testing ground in the past to suggest he should cope. There is a theory he only runs well at chelt but he has run well elsehwere, for example once second in a grade 1 on this track and in these conditions, he is the selection.

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April 3.45 LAY Jessies Dream - 2.68 Jessies Dream has won the last 2 races very well indeed, but this is a totally different proposition today. Today this horse is moving from conferance football to the premier league. First up we have Ainama, who will have no problem with ground and conditions and had the 143 rated Trenchant and the 151 rated Cape Tribulation behind last time. I believe both of those animals would show Jessie Dream a clear pair of heels. Next up we have Solstice Knight who ran an exceptional race last time beating An Innocent Man by 6 lengths. This animal will also have no problem with trip or ground. Uimheraceathair, a stablemate of Jessies Dream, has been running consistantly well and we can all remember instances where the supposed second string beats the first string. Noble Prince and Errit Lake seem to have a bit to find on paper but both animals come here on the back on good wins and have no problems with trip and ground. In a race where there are several likely protagonists, I believe a lay of Jessies Dream is the best move.

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April 440 Her: Bon Ami EW Nice little novice handicap to solve, quite sweet on the chances of Kim Baileys Bon Ami here at a big price. I noted him travelling well just behind the leaders in a couple of his races and surprised he hasnt got into the prize money yet, maybe waiting for a handicap mark such as this. Has ran ok on any surface and I feel he has not shown his true rating to date which are the ones I look out for in this type of race. Hopefully will finish off his race today and get involved, the price at around 16/1 looks too big to me.

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April Redcar 3.40 - Rising Kheleyf - WIN Won well last time out when stepped up to 7f on reappearance after a break. Stayed on strongly that day so extra 1f looks likely to suit. 6lbs rise in weights for that run doesn't look too much so must be in with a big shout today with stable in good form.

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April 6:00 Yarmouth - Cloudy Start - Back Given diamond's unlucky second, I am forced into picking something 7/2 or bigger to try and nick 2nd. Then I came across this lad. I cannot believe he is 4th out of 5 in the market. 3 runs ago he came 2nd to a Gosden type that is entered in the Derby. 2 runs ago he won at this class and distance. Lto he was returning from a 6 month break in a class higher than this, so can be excused the 9th place finish. The fave has been off for 226 days which must be a worry. The 2nd fave has no won in his last 6 starts. The 3rd fave has become notoriously expensive to follow after a promising run earlier in his career. At the odds, Cloudy Start looks massively priced to me. Hopefully he'll go in (and Bowles' doesn't!!!) and he can nick 2nd place for me 1pt win

Re: Best bet of the day 30th April H6.40 Portside 1pt Win Alan King has a great record at the course and this horse ran a good race at the track on its penultimate start when staying on well to take third. Todays race is over a longer distance which should be exactly what is required and Robert Thornton takes over in the saddle today. Another positive would be that the horses main market rivals have jockeys on board that I don't rate (A Tinkler, Lee Vickers and Henry Oliver).
