ReasoningAfter the final at Wimbledon once again the Williams sister have dominated the last Grand Slam tournament from this year. But bad luck made them meet each other in the quarter finals despite they've been the best players in US Open. Great serving, powerfull shots and having won as many important titles as they have gives them a cold blood when having to deal with dangerous moments in the match. In her way Serena defeated Bondarenko, Vesnina, Sugiyama, Bremond and Safina in 2 easy and short sets. Jankovic may be world number 2, but she definetly isn't playing as good as the Williams sister. So far she encountered problems with 4 of her 6 opponents on the road to the final. Arvidsson and Wozniacki 2 scandinavic players who base their game mainly on force won a set against her. Consider Williams a more improved version of the 2 and you'll get the idea. Also Zheng, and Dementieva had their chances but failed under pressure. Like I said this won't be a problem for Serena who knows how to conserve her serve. Especially Dementieva in the semi-finals showed in the opening games she has more than enough to play the final, but unexpectedly her game went down and Jankovic deservedly won. In my eyes there's no stopping Serena here, and I consider the tournament being won by her after the Quarter Final match with Venus. Bookies know this and understandably give low odds on her to win on home soil. Things should finish quick, and a set won by Jankovic would be a great achievement for her, but really not something realistic.

ReasoningThe former world number 1, Roger Federer, is pushing to recover his crown, and to retain his title once again at US Open. The first 3 rounds were against some unimpressive opponents, and the only big scare for him came in the 4th round when he met Russian Igor Andreev. He won in 5 sets, with a 6-3 decider and the next stop was the final as Gilles Muller and Djokovic didn't have what it takes to bother the Swiss. Muller pushed Federer to 2 tie-breaks, both lost and the thing which bothered Federer most was his good serve, as Federer won most of the long points. With Djokovic although it may seem an impressive win, the Serbian wasn't at his best in this tournament. He dealed well with strong serve Kendrick but had more problems than usual against players like Robredo, Cilic and Roddick. Robredo pushed him to 5 sets, while the other sneaked 1 set each. The loss against Federer was easier than even the Swiss expected but now in the final he will have to meet his strongest opponent yet. Andy Murray showed by winning the Cincinatti tournament he is a name to be reckoned with, and he did it by beating a Novak Djokovic in the final who had just made one of his best matches against Nadal in the semis. At US Open, despite playing against Del Potro and Nadal, the one who gave him the biggest scare was Jurgen Melzer who won the first 2 sets, but the British player recovered and won the next 3. He showed good fighting spirit against Michael Llodra, and also against in-form Del Potro and world number one Rafael Nadal. His style of play will no doubt annoy Federer, and although the Swiss started to show some of his better tennis, until now he didn't meet such a good defensive player and mistakes could start appear. Many years have past since a british player won a Grand Slam tournament, motivation will be high and Andy Murray has what it takes to give Federer a run for the money. I'm taking handicap on Murray.

ReasoningI can see this being an epic and am backing both to win in five sets. Federer is the proven master but there is no doubt Murray is on fire and his performance against Nadal was special. Fed seems to be coming back to his very best of late and will no doubt push Andy to his very limits yet again. Murray leads Federer 2-1 on recent head to heads and I don't think there is too much between the pair nowadays, especially on the big occasions like this.
