Re: York 22/08/07 As copied from specialist thread: York 3.10, 1m4f, Group1, Good ground(gd-sft in places) The form horse in the race is peeping Fawn and it is the worthy odds on favourite. It's last 5 runs have been in Group 1 races with 3 wins, a 2nd and a 3rd. It has improved dramatically over the season but has had a lot of racing and was idling in front last time out when beating Mandesha. I won't back at odds on and the only one I can see troubling it is Silkwood. I originally backed Silkwood to win the Oaks but it didn't run due to the ground and that has been the case all season. It finally got its good to firm ground at Royal Ascot in a Group 2 race and was highly impressive, quickening clear after travelling smoothly through the race and into contention. Peeping Fawn has beaten Light Shift and outclassed it but I honestly think Silkwood is a better horse than Light Shift despite yet showing it. Silkwood might not have the form of the favourite but it has the potential, the improvement required and has a clear chance if sweeping to the front in a battle with the fav. It has also had a nice rest and should be just right for this. Only worry is that the ground was described as a bit tacky on Tuesday so not 100% sure it would suit. Going to have a win bet and a reverse forecast as I think this is a 2 horse race. The other horses have either been put in their place already or fall short at this level or trip. Suggested Bets: 15 PTS WIN - Silkwood (9-4 >Bet365 BOG) 2.5pts Reverse forecast (Silkwood and Peeping Fawn) 20 PTS Staked

Re: York 22/08/07 Luberon 1.30 York Not exactly brimming with confidence over this one after its recent runs but off this mark of 98 it is dangerous and has won twice off it before, including once at this track but over 1m4f. Darley on board for a very good local trainer in Mark Johnstone who often does well with his horses at York. Track suits its front running style and can't be left to kick clear as it will stay gamely off this mark. Recent form off higher handicap marks is shocking but has won at class 2 level and looks too big to ignore at 40-1. Has won on good and good to firm before. (Back ew at 40-1 Bet365 BOG)

You lucky sod. I'm in groupwork training all day at Lindholme Prison. Hit all the traffic on the way home like I did today and got in about half six. If Luberon wins and you've got your £1 ew on it'll pay for the rest of your bets. ;) You'll have to give me full analysis on the Silkwood/Peeping Fawn race mate. :ok

20070822Yor140008.png Swiss Franc 2.00 York

Finished 3rd to Chapple-Hyam's Winker Watson at HQ and 2nd to Henry the navigator at Ascot. That's top class form in anyone's book and he deserves to be favourite. 20070731Gwo141516.png Greek Well 1.30 York 9 of the last 10 winners have carried weights of 8-13 or less but just above that weight is old Sniffy's ( Sir M.Stoutes raider) Has won off a higher mark than this but that was in a class 4. Ran well LTO at Goodwood over distance when boxed in in the final furlong, sporting a visor for the first time he could run well under Kerrin McEvoy 20070822Yor143503.png Scriptwriter 2.35 York He's not the most straightforward of horses but looked a class act when stepping up in trip at Goodwood and demolishing a decent field under 10 stone. The Cumani jolly looks a little high in the weights but I can see Frankie delivering another masterclass on the Godolphin 5 year old carrying 9-7(ex4) and running off the same mark. 20070822Yor151002.png Allegretto (e/w) 3.10 York Old Sniffy has won this race 4 times since 2000 and runs Allegretto who won in fine style at Goodwood LTO, the drop back in trip will not be a problem. 3rd in this race last year she could run into a place again at a decent price with 'only' the 2 market leaders to beat. With Alexandrova looking doubtful this is only going to pay 1-2 but she could still nick 2nd if Silkwood or Peeping Fawn blows up.

Re: York 22/08/07 2.00 Swiss Franc Has some solid solid form behind some real good 2 year olds this season in the majorty of his races. Looks to have an excellent chance to get back to winning ways goes on ground, Top jockey on board should really win this. Great Barrier Reef is an unknown and could be anything. 2.35 Wing Collar e/w (nap) Has a penalty for a win here last month over c&d in testing conditions, Has a nice weight to carry and really loves it round here record reads 6 starts, 3 wins and a 2nd. we know he gets the trip and goes on testing ground and good ground. Trainer is in fine form and should run well at 18/1. Has a solid chance in a very hard handicap to figure out.

Re: York 22/08/07 YORK 15:10 - DARLEY YORKSHIRE OAKS (GROUP 1) (FILLIES & MARES) (CLASS 1) 1m4f GOOD. Allegretto 11/1 SkyBet Interesting race with the two favourites here in Peeping Fawn and Silkwood, but if either one of these fails to perform Allegretto can capitalise. 3rd in this race last year and has had two wins since. Probably prefers the softer ground and with Moore/Stoute teaming up can get close.

Re: York 22/08/07 I´m also on Algretto EW. Big price considering was 3rd in this race last year and impressive LTO. 11/1 seems like a great price here. Also on Mudawin EW in the race before. Can get 22/1 which seems big for this CD winner who won last year. Bit higher in the weights this time but certainly has place claims and can capitalise on the top 2 having an off day.

Re: York 22/08/07 1.30 Whilst the favourite has to be respected it also has to overcome a long break and any value may have gone so River Tiber apeeals e.w. A former Aiden O'Brien pace maker it has been moved to the Cumani yard and won at Ascot and then ran reasonably LTO at Goodwood and could provide a good start for the trainer and jockey. 2.00 Swiss Franc nap. Looks a very promising two year old. Already has the form in the book with its runs in the Coventry and in the July Stakes when arguably unlucky. Many in this field do not have that kind of form yet with the possible exception of Art Advisor who could go well at a bigger price but if the ground remains on the softer side of good that should suit Swiss Franc a lot more. 2.35 Purple Moon must have a great chance but the ground is a possible slight concern and a couple of e.w alternatives are Hitchcock and Lake Poet. Interestingly Hitchcock has been kept in training and connections think highly and the Melbourne Cup has been mooted. LTO it was running at an inadequte trip and on really testing ground but before that it ran well at Ascot and should appreciate the trip. Lake Poet always seems to run a solid race including against Championship Point LTO and if taking to 1m 6f could go well. 3.10 Peeping Fawn is getting better and better and unless she starts showing signs of a heavy campaign it could be difficult for others to catch her on this ground. 3.50 Captain Gerrard has got better and has an obvious chance but I put Cake up here last week @ 9/1 and whilst she has a tougher task here should run a solid race e.w
