For the first time in my life

Re: For the first time in my life

Well for me i got thrown into racing from my aunt ( Jenny Pitman ), at the right old age of 15, i use to muck out the stable 's and picked up good insights in to racing from the duchess of racing. As on the gambling insight, i got lucky on my first ever bet, winning Lucky 15 returning £697.00, the funny side of this i layed out £8.25 (Tax was around) and when i went to collect the guy behind the counter said i had a good win when i asked he replied 697, i thought i had lost money as i thought the return was £6.97, silly me :rollin But my stats come from my own knowledge, with a little help of the Racing Post and Sportinglife. As a race horse owner the buzz is always there, over the years i have been grateful to be involved in some nice horse's over the last 15 years, and have taken on board everything i have learnt and got from other people on forums like these. Racing is a hard game, and there is not such a thing as a certainty, i think we have all established this..but there are winners out there to be found if you look closely and feel confident enough to put them into action Wups
Saw Mrs Pitman on Tv the other day :notworthy Burrough hill lad, corbiere etc...what a great grounding for you.

Re: For the first time in my life Hard for me to comment with so many edited posts so I don't know what has originally been said. :unsure The Boy Rooney, there is no need to ban you as far as I'm aware. As long as your not after eventing it isn't a problem. :ok We're trying to attract more members not ban them all. :) The idea of the racing section was always to provide reasoning with selections, the inside info thread was to provide 'inside info'. You did well mate with the info you posted but then people just wanted more info and gave nothing in return. Glad to see you picking winners from form study. Always worth the effort and feels great when you take the bookies for a 33-1 winner or so. :ok

Re: For the first time in my life

I picked two horses on my own, without the aid of tips or anything. And put them in a double and they won..And it feels good..Just thought i would share that with my good friends at PL. Today was the first day i stood back, took stock of things and bet sensibly and when i felt it was right and for the first time since i started(excluding one off info/tips) i am in profit..god it feels so good..d
looking back, it isnt exactly after eventing & i shouldnt be so hasty in jumping to the wrong conclusions :ok
point of this thread is.......???
my view is that these threads dont add any value to the place. otherwise, we will get a few of these with people saying "guess what, picked out that 100/1 shot yesterday but didnt tell you guys first!" Been there, done that, got the t-shirt i'm afraid.
this aint a forum for after-eventing if it is, then adios amigos!!
see my other comment on this, bit hasty yes, but i have lived this forum for 4 years & brought this ATR section up with a few others help to where it is now.
yeah thanks lads..you sure know how to put people on a downer..can you not just be happy, rather than constant negativity?..who said anything about after eventing..i never said any horse name, just said i had a bit of good luck ..just thought i'd share something that happened me ,where i was actually making a point, that it's good to look at these yourselves rather than depend on other people's info or tips all the time... All i can say the attitude of some people around here is a disgrace.if your not happy with it,delete rather than publicly trying to make a fool of someone...And Adios amigos..??Your not in a film mate... Goodnight so..
Praise is given where due TBR, believe me it annoys the hell out of me that certain threads get 1200 views for 1 tip which loses & the daily threads get 250 views & have 4 - 5 winners !! Doesnt make sense but ego's are massaged. if you are calling my attitude a disgrace, then you dont know me!! I am not critical of people on here & perhaps was trying to make a bit of a point. Us Mods have been talking about certain threads the last 2 weeks & i wanted to make my comment.
Well done Rooney!:clap and I agree "How can this be after eventing, if no names of horses were given"! This place is getting stupid, Guy is letting everyone know he has used commonsense in looking at the form and picking to his mind 2 good picks nothing else mentioned? If PL is getting the school treatment with peoples posts, I'll be off to a more democratic forum... P.s. Again well done Rooney, don't let anyone stop you posting!
no-one will stop you posting TBR, as long as its relevant.
Any chance posts like this are creating the 'them and us' feeling that was laughed off by the 'them' at the weekend? Just a thought to be ignored again.
this is simply not ture, there is never a them & us culture on here. if you think one has been created please accept my resignation with immediate effect!!

Re: For the first time in my life only just getting in to the puntering game myself, but learnt my first and mose valuable lession when i was a teenager working in a bookies writing up the prices,(old school) dont ever chase your losses i saw punters laying on 100, lose, then 200 on the next race, and 400 on the next until they are down to they last 10 or 20 and would just look for the largests price they could and put it on a 40/1 shot. without even checking the race card. Madness. and never gamble beond you can afford to lose.

Re: For the first time in my life Can I just put this ridiculous thing of "them and us" to bed for any other snipers. It doesn't exist on here, this place wouldn't be anywhere near as big as it is, if that was the case, because it's blatantly there to see if it is a "them and us" situation. There is no other forum that looks after it's members like PL, and whilst I'm not interested in anyone slapping me on the back, no other forum reinvests all its profits - fact. As for this thread..... I understand what Bowles has said here, and I categorically will not defend moderators if I believe they are in the wrong. I think Bowles reply was probably a bit harsh on first glance, but this is a guy that was one of the main people to make the ATR part of PL so busy. He was around when it was a deserted part of the forum, however maybe Bowles could have worded slightly better, but the one thing it show me more than anything, is that Bowles really cares about PL and how it's run, so let's not let twist things Wayne. TBR, It's clear as day that you love your horse racing and that you like PL, which is great. We want you to contribute and get involved and no it's not as serious as it's made out to be (come to a PL meetup and you'll see :lol), but we are essentially a serious betting forum, unlike the betfair forum which unfortunately is full of muppets, along with a few clued up guys. Just for future reference, probably best not to start a thread just for this, but I do sense it's more out of enthusiasm than anything. Perhaps just keep it to the daily thread on the day in question, but talk of you being banned, is hilarious. We're quite strict on people causing trouble on PL, if they do and continue and continue, their life here will be short, that's why we're the best out there. Things can often appear to be said in a certain "tone" but on forums, they are often mistaken imo. Let's all just take a chill pill and get on with fighting the "only" enemy, which is the bookies of course. ;)

Re: For the first time in my life Evening lads. I have had a read through this thread I think the main problem here is it is very hard to get across irony and exaggeration in text. I must say however, 2 things. Firsty, congrats TBR on the recent success you have had. Secondly, after Bowles initial reaction he has shown great maturity and professionalism in defusing the situation by re-addressing each individual point raised. Well done guys - lets bash them bookies :ok
