PIPMEL
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Lisa Raymond has had a fantastic career and earned a LOT of money, very much a doubles specialist, where she has a "grand slam" of titles to her name, she remains very capable in singles events. Raymond is extremely selective about the tournaments she competes in, but absolutely loves it in Memphis, where she has a wonderful record. Winning the title in 02 and 03, she was a finalist in 04 and last year lost to the eventual winner, Sofia Arvidsson, in two very close sets. Raymond can boast a recent 12-2 win/loss record in the singles and 20-6 overall. In addition she is a two time doubles champion, including last year's event. Today she meets Bethanie Mattek, the 21 yo American is 12 years Raymond's junior, but that is pretty much all you can say in her favour. Known for her crazy dress sense and not a lot else, she looks very much a journeywoman player and is 0-8 in Grand Slam events. Given Raymond's outstanding history here and vast experience, 68 Grand Slam wins, 4 single and 62 doubles titles, I find it hard to understand why Mattek has been made favourite. The younger player tends to exit tournaments, as soon as she meets a top 100 player and even at 33 years of age, Raymond could easily get her ranking much lower than that, if doubles was not such a money making machine ($7m) for her. 4 points Raymond to beat Mattek 2.14 Pinnacle, you will no doubt find something similar on the exchanges a little later. LilEagle
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Janko Tipsarevic vs Olivier Rochus Janko Tipsarevic is a known choker but the conditions should suit the hard serving serb and he did look good vs Baggy and I think it's time for him to start delivering some results. Janko Tipsarevic +4 games - 1.75 @ Gamebookers Francesca Schiavone vs Patty Schnyder The surface here in Dubai looks perfect for Patty Schnyder and she made it to the semi-finals here last year. She looked good last week when she was unlucky vs Golovin and couldn't take advantage of match-point Patty Schnyder - 1.66 @ Betsafe Lisa Raymond vs Bethanie Mattek Lisa Raymond has won this tournament 2002 & 2003 and she was a runner-up 2004. LilEagle
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Alberto Martin vs Igor Andreev Andreev looked good in the qualifies vs Vanek, played good, served good etc while Alberto Martin was serving like pure crap last week and if he continues to keep same low standard on serving today this should be an easy match for Andreev. Igor Andreev -3.5 Games - 1.85 @ Fonbet Jürgen Melzer vs Jesse Witten If Jürgen Melzer can stay away from choking and keep normal standard he shouln't have any problems with beating this slow moving american with his drop shots. WinningTipster
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Hi guys, the following picks for today and tomorrow: ATP, MEMPHIS DEL POTRO TO D LOPEZ @ 1.73 at paddypower WTA, MEMPHIS CRAYBAS TO D LIGGAN @ 1.17 at bwin Del Potro is one of the players to watch for the up-and-coming clay court season. But the young Argentinean is a solid hard court player also. Actually, Del Potro had a very good Australian Open where he took Gonzalez to 5 sets and played well in Davis Cup a week ago defeating Melzer on a quick indoor court in Austria. From the other hand Lopez is completely out of form and looks to be a clear underdog. The odds are low but Craybas coming from an ITF title win last week and is in a very good form since the start of 2007. Liggan from Ireland is ranked 225 at and never had a win over such quality opponent.
LilEagle
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Robin Haase - Roko Karanusic Roko Karanusic had to qualify to main tournament and did a great job beating Waske and De Hoest without any problems and almost without dropping any points on first serve. Haase is playing at home but players who had to qualify are always dangerous. Roko Karanusic - 1.73 @ Pinnacle

expert
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Sport Tennis Event ABN AMRO Championship Selection Olivier Rochus to win 2-1 Strength 4/10 Date 19/02/2007 Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 4.00 (Back) Reasoning Rocchus the fav in this match but IMO the odds for his win are far to low, laying at around 1.35. Cant see clear win for the Belgian in this one – he should get this match under his belt, but his tendency of loosing first sets (last three matches and 4 out of 6) has made me go for his win with 2-1, the odds are simply to good to leave them alone. Also the h2h is much closer than the odds suggest, as players are tied at 2-2, with both winning one match in 2006. Sport Tennis Event Karlovic Ivo - Sam Querrey Selection Karlovic Ivo Strength 10/10 Date 19/02/2007 Bookmaker/Price Expekt @ 1.75 (Back) Reasoning Both of them heavy servers, Karlovic just fresh out of the final defeat in San Jose, where 28 aces werent enough for Murray. But he did win matches against Blake, Fish and Becker with his servis. Ok maybe the American is fresher coming in this match, but cmon, Karlovic is 28 years old and he shouldnt feel too tired after playing in SJ..if he will keep high percentage of 1st serve i see no problems for him in beating Querrey today. LilEagle
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Nikolay Davydenko vs Michael Berrer Nikolay Davydenko usually doesn't start the tournaments with trashing players and he always have many suprise first round losses. Michael Berrer is a big serving leftie and has a good chance to cover this handicap. The odds look great no matter what. Michael Berrer +6 Games - 1.91 @ 10Bet Jose Acasuso vs Sergio Roitman Sergio Roitman doesn't seem to enjoy this tournamet too much since he has only one win on six tries and he didn't look to well last week in Brazil. Jose Acasuso on the other side loves it here and have a 17-6 record and made it to the quarterfinals here last year. expert
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Sport Tennis Event Evgueni Korolev vs. Robby Ginepri Selection Evgueni Korolev to win 2-1 Strength 4/10 Date 19/02/2007 Bookmaker/Price >Bet365 @ 6.00 (Back) Reasoning Simple value bet. Two edges for Korolev; last time these two met, Korolev won with 2-1 in sets, with great comeback, after he dropped the first one with 0-6. Also Korolev played qualifications here, and is probably more used to the surface as Ginepri. He passed through the qualies with two straight sets wins against Capdeville and Armando. Also Ginepri hasnt had much succest in Memphis as he did only twice reached the quarters here, while Korolev is a first timer here.
expert
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Sport Tennis Event Vania King vs. Abigail Spears Selection Abigail Spears Strength 4/10 Date 19/02/2007 Bookmaker/Price >10bet @ 2.58 (Back) Reasoning Also a nice looking value bet. Spears has crawled through the qualification...hardly as she played two three seters so that she could now face fellow American Vania KIng. Those two ladies never met before, and neither can brag herself that she had achieved something imortant this year. Kings only win in 2007 came in expense of Jelena Kostanic, otherwise she lost all her matches and is 0-2 on the hard surface this year. Spears a relative unknown, and she must be a little tired, but also highly motivated after the qualis to go through next round and beating famous name such as King is, she probably wont get much better chance than that for a long time
expert
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Sport Tennis Event Alex Kuznetsov vs Kevin Kim Selection Alex Kuznetsov Strength 4/10 Date 19/02/2007 Bookmaker/Price >10bet @ 2.36 (Back) Reasoning Kuznetsov much better server than KIm IMO and that could be the edge in this match. KIm uninspired at the start of 2007 season with 1-5 record to date and with 1-3 record on hard surface (6-11 in 2006). Bet looks like a good value and im willing to put the money (khm...limited amount of course) on the youngster in this one...better serve, motivation..IMO a 50:50 match...but the value certainly on the Kuznetsovs side. oh yeah...and great start to the day with Rocchus again spilling the first set :beer...better to open a beer now as "results may vary"
expert
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Sport Tennis Event Chris Guccione vs. Yen Hsun Lu Selection Chris Guccione to win 2-1 Strength 4/10 Date 19/02/2007 Bookmaker/Price >Bet365 @ 4.50 (Back) Reasoning Well the odds on Gucciones win have dramatically risen...it were around 1.75 around 30 mins ago and now theyre on 1.87, really dont know what happened but i still believe that American will win this match. The 2.00 m giant with great serve should overcome the 23 year old from Chinese Taipei. Going for the value once again as the Lu looks like a tough player to play against as he made it very hard for Youzhny, Haas and Safin - made them work for their victory in three sets. Well Guccione is in a funk after starting the year on a high note - finals in Adelaide where he lost to Novak Djokovic.

Today Ginepri will play in house what it will give some advantage to it, but Korolev will not be an easy adversary. Florian Mayer - 2.25 @ Ladbrokes Tomas Berdych vs Mikhail Youzhny Both chokers but I rate Berdych a better indoor player. If he han keep up his good serve combined with attacking game and good forehand she should put Youzhny under big pressure. expert
Re: Tennis, Week 8 Sport Tennis Event Berdych v Youzhny Selection Berdych to win 2-1 Strength 3/10 Date 20/02/2007 Bookmaker/Price Stan James @ 4.00 (Back) Reasoning They are IMO hard to separate, both having a pretty good season until now. I give a small edge to the Berdych as he seems to me more stable when playing his serve. Cant bet this one with high odds as the match really could go either way, so again going with the set bet To mention..both players are really bad in this tournament, as Youzhny was trown out twice in 1st round here and Berdych did beat Soderling in 1st round 2005, to achieve his biggest succes so far in this tournament - 2nd round. Edge for Berdych - his height - better angling of the serves on this surface.. Sport Tennis Event Hrbaty v Mayer Selection Hrbaty Strength 7/10 Date 20/02/2007 Bookmaker/Price Expekt @ 1.80 (Back) Reasoning Got to back Hrbaty at this price. All the books have him below 1.70 mark only selected book price is set on 1.8. Well Hrbaty won all 3 h2h and thats IMO the only real edge in this match. I give Slovak player 65% to win this one, as both arent in great form...but h2h...well that should mean something Sport Tennis Event Ferrer v Rochus C. Selection Ferrer 2-0 Strength 7/10 Date 20/02/2007 Bookmaker/Price Stan James @ 1.66 (Back) Reasoning If there woould not be a big upset, Ferrer should walk through this match with easy 2 set victory. Yeah Rochus did win only h2h way back in 2002 - on clay. But Ferrers 2007 record speaks for itself, as he is 10-3 and 8-1 on the hard surface and also won Heineken tournament in january.
