BillyHills Posted January 1, 2007 Share Posted January 1, 2007 King Louis 1230 Cheltenham (RP 12/1) Been waiting for this one to run for over a month, noted it when running really well untl belting the third last, still battled on behind some good horses and finished 4th, loves the ground and should enjoy the uphill finish, disappointed to see Ruby riding, not because of him but the price would have been much better. Interesting that it runs in a Handicap, obviously the connections have seen better at home and another good run in a novice hurdle would probrably have seen his ratings shoot up. However, there is a 9lb reversal this time and I can see Wessex gettin much much closer to the favourite here and in doing so, will go close to winning the race. Heavy going at Exeter today and we need to look for something that will definitely go on the ground. I fancy FLEURETTE here who relishes heavy going although has not encountered it for over 12 months with a win and a 2nd from 2 starts. Has been campaigned over fences so far this season without success and a revert to hurdles could do the trick. Would have to oppose likely fav OLIMPO with the lack of a recent completed start. SIGNATURE TUNE would have to enter calculations if handling the ground and the step up in trip. Up in class to a listed level but jockey never got serious on the horse, just comfortably pushing it out to victory. Will have it's work cut out against the fav Quartano but that only won a class 5 NHF race and is 10-11 on so definite value in the 16-1 available. RP spotlight: Good Flat pedigree and encouraging debut when narrowly springing 40-1 surprise in 1m6f fast-ground event at Huntingdon two months ago; second, third and fourth all run well since but very different conditions to cope with today.
