Re: Australia - A League Round 14 (Nov 24-26) Quick Summary of Round 14 matches Sydney/Queensland Draw last time out for these two and the Roar take it right up to Sydney as a rule, and with Damian Mori in the side, makes this an interesting game, and hard to pick at this stage as the Roar are a very attacking side. Mariners/Adelaide Home team hard to beat at home, but without Mori they may struggle to score as they did before Mori came to the club. Adelaide are on the rise but not so good away from home, but defensively they are very good, just scored the 4 goals away though. Perth/Knights Could only select the home team here, you would need to be on some very good drugs to even entertain the thought of the Knights doing anything but lose. Melbourne/Jets The home team have a few injury concerns and may be missing about 3 good players, and the Jets could not have picked a better time to face the Victory. One would think the home team, but it depends who is out for them. The Jets are very capable of scoring goals.

Re: Australia - A League Round 14 (Nov 24-26)

And he's playing for Adelaide' date=' now?[/quote'] Not exactly now :lol But he will be on Saturday night when a travelling Adelaide face Central Coast Mariners at CCM's home ground. The Mariners are unbeaten at home this season but have lost a sriker(Damian Mori) who has kicked 6 goals in their last eight games. I would be expecting a large crowd to the game just to see Romario play. Adelaide plays it's next three games at home where they will get a significant crowd boost one would think. It's great for the A League to get a player of Romario's calibre to the A League, and be interesting what he thinks of the standard. Romario is to play four games for Adelaide as part of his guest stint.

Re: Australia - A League Round 14 (Nov 24-26) From Adelaide's offical website - news dated 15.11: "Brazilian superstar Romario will arrive in Adelaide on Monday (20.11 - yes, he arrived indeed) to begin his four week contract with Adelaide United. The deal, that will see Romario play four games for Adelaide United commencing with the Round 14 clash against the Central Coast Mariners in Gosford followed by three games at Hindmarsh Stadium, is the biggest news of the Hyundai A-League this season and will attract worldwide media to Adelaide United’s progress. Since he was in Adelaide with the touring Miami FC back in mid October, Romario has been spending time with his personal trainer in preparation to getting himself right and in peak condition for his stint with United. Romario is closing in on 1,000 career goals and has made it clear that he is committed to playing his part in helping Adelaide United stay near the top of the table. After playing a season with Miami FC in which he scored 22 goals, the 1994 World Player of the Year still knows how to hit the target and is adamant that he will be here to score goals and help The Reds succeed." 00005848-image.jpg

Re: Australia - A League Round 14 (Nov 24-26) Just for interest... I managed to get the missus to go away for a week with the kids to visit her family and did it in a week where I am covering other people at work all weekend...Now how stupid is that??? :wall So I am basically working all weekend and it will be all work and no play :sad This morning I have a Uni exam and this afternoon I am working 2pm till 9pm so won't be able to watch the game as it starts around 8pm I think. Not sure how much I will be able to post today but see what I can do as far as stats go for the Sydney V Queensland game to assist you punters out there. I am probably leaning towards a settled Sydney side tonight with all their good players in and coming off a great win last week against Adelaide. I am also very wary of Queensland as they have super striker Damian Mori on their list now, and considering the Roar lead the League on shots for goal and Mori has to be a big chance to get on the end of one or two chances along the journey.

Re: Australia - A League Round 14 (Nov 24-26)

By the way' date=' does anyone down under give a damn about football when Australia fights to regain the Ashes right now? ;)[/quote'] We also have the big Golf Masters event at Huntingdale this weekend too, but the Ashes have overshadowed that. Most of the A League games are played outside of cricket hours and it shouldn't have much effect. The Ashes are live on free to air tv too all over Australia. Are you being tongue in cheek when you say Australia fights to win the Ashes? Not much of a fight at the moment :rollin Only a matter of time from what I have seen so far :ok

Re: Australia - A League Round 14 (Nov 24-26) Sydney vs Queensland Well what to make of this match? Sydney arent playing great football at the moment but they still seem to be getting results which is kinda scary because when they get all these injured players back and they start playing their best football, they will be very hard to stop. Queensland started off this season on fire but that fire has been estinguished somewhat as they have only won 1 of their past 9 matches and taken only 1 point of a possible 15 in their past 5 games. This poor form has lead to their manager stepping down and former National manager Frank Farina taking over the reigns last weekend. They will find their feet again under Farina i am positive of that, but not sure if it will happen tonight. Queenslands main concern is converting chances into goals and they have so many chances, infact they are the team which has the most shots and now that they have signed goalscoring machine Damien Mori, they now have somebody who can convert all those chances into goals. He is pure class is Damian Mori and he proved that in his short stint at Central Coast. Sydney actually have a pretty good record over Queensland and beat them 3-1 away earleir this year away from home, plus its also worth mentioning that Sydney are the only team to have scored in each game played this season. As far as team news goes, Queensland have pretty much a full team to choose from without too many injury concerns. Yuning Zhang will make way for new recruit Damien Mori. Simon Lynch is injured for Queensland however and he is a big loss for them as he is their main goalscorer, but Mori will compliment him. Ante Milicic also has some doubt over a knock he got last week but he should be fit to line up tonight. Sydney who have been injury depleted in recent times had a few players come back last week and they are looking dangerous again now as captain Steve Corrica is back and playing like a superstar. Any team that can leave players like Alex Brosque & Sasho Petrovski on the bench are always going to be dangerous and I think as far as squad depth go, Sydney have Queensland here. Sydney are paying $1.75 at Centrebet which isnt too bad value for a game Sydney should win. Sydney on the -1 European Handicap is paying $3.20 and i believe they can win this by more than 2 goals. 2-0 or 3-1 are scorelines im looking at. Another bet that stands out is the Sydney/Sydney HT/FT because looking at the stats, in 13 games this year Sydney have lead at half time in 8 of them while Queensland have only lead at half time 1 out of 13 which is a worrying trend. Sydney/Sydney pays $2.85 which is awesome. David Carney is a player who has really impressed me in recent weeks, he is a highly attacking player and at $8.50 to score first he represents some good value as a small bet for interest sakes. So to recap on some selected bets, take a closer look at the following: Sydney to win at $1.75 Sydney -1 EH at $3.20 Sydney/Sydney at $2.85 David Carney to score first at $8.50 Correct Scores of 2-0 & 3-1 at $7.00 and $12.00 Good luck those betting tonight :ok

The above figures show that Sydney has a fairly good head to head record against Queensland, winning 3 and drawing 2 from six matches. The Roar have been held goaless twice and have only scored multiple goals once, and Sydney has managed to win away against Queensland twice, and scoring 5 goals total in both games.

Sydney have a sterling record at home and have only lost to Melbourne and Adelaide in recent times. They rarely lose to any of the lower teams at home, and while the Roar wouldn’t be classed as lower, they are definitely a rung below Melbourne and Adelaide.

Queensland away have quite a good record and they also have a very good goals for and against record. Their two losses were to the Knights and Melbourne, and they generally give a good account of themselves away.

Sydney shoot a lot less than Queensland but convert twice as often as the Roar. Queensland have scored away against Melbourne and Sydney, yet were held goaless away to NZ Knights, strange days indeed. Home and away figures is fairly even, and Queensland have a better conversion rate away from home.

Sydney are capable of scoring at anytime during a game going by the above stats, especially in the first 15 minutes and just before and after half-time.

Queensland too are capable of scoring early, and just after half-time, and also late in the game, but bear in mind, three of the 6 goals in last 15 minutes were scored in the first round against the Jets.

Sydney name an unchanged side and David Carney and Steve Corica will be further improved with another run under their belt. Damian Mori is the big new signing for Queensland this week and he could have an immediate impact with the amount of forward thrusts the Roar make in a game. Remo Buess is promoted and a disappointing Yuning Zhang makes way and Ben Griffin is also omitted. The teams lineup very similarly to their last clash in Round 7, but Sydney had Carbone then, and Carney and Brosque are in this time. Queensland had Simon Lynch play in Round 7 and he is out for this match. So Sydney probably appear stronger on paper from their last meeting.

I do like Sydney to win this game but not sure if $1-75 is their true price, as the stats are reasonably even except for Sydney’s higher goal conversion rate. Queensland continually attack the goal during a game, and they also have new recruit Damian Mori up front to compliment the likes of Reinaldo, Milicic and McKay.

I’m not sure which way to go here, and may even have a think about it for a while.

Sydney are starting to slip into some good form and it’s no coincidence that it is as soon as David Carney is back in the team. I am a huge wrap for Carney as he has great skills and is capable of ripping a game to shreds. Sydney were brilliant in their win last week against Adelaide, and it was a tough encounter. Queensland also had a torrid game against Melbourne and lost on the scoreboard, but probably won the dirty tactics award easily, so they may be a bit tired after last weeks game.

I don’t think Sydney will lose this game, put it that way, at worst a draw IMO. But at $1-75 against a team that leads the comp in shots for goal, and with the acquisition of a finisher in Damian Mori, they may very well slot a couple in tonight the Roar. Queensland are over $2 with the +1 and that could be better value than the Sydney win price.

Having said that, Queensland did have a very tough match last week against Melbourne and I am sure it will have taken some toll, and Sydney are playing their second game in a row at home. Sydney have scored every game so far this season and there is no reason why they won’t again and I believe they have many things in their favour tonight which suggests a win to the home team here.

Re: Australia - A League Round 14 (Nov 24-26) Agreewith all that's been said. Sydney, who won the title last year, are now at full strength and they have momentum going for them. They look sharper and more hungrier to set and score the goals. The catalyst has been Carney but also with Milligan and Corica there, and now even Zdrilic and Petrovski finding the net, Sydney are looking very good as they head towards the business end of the season. Queensland play well but for all their efforts, wouldn't be able to score in brothel with a load of money. Mori may have something to say about that but Rudan should keep him in check. Sydney now has the confidence to build on for the rest of the season and they should win this one. Sydney to win $1.70 @ Centrebet Sydney -1 $3.20 @ Centrebet looks good too

They are averaging over 20 shots a game in their last five games but only average 0.2 goals per game. Defensively they have been fairly sound only conceding the six goals.

Amazing really, but Mori may be the difference.

Re: Australia - A League Round 14 (Nov 24-26) I think Queensland, with the added potency of Mori will be able to score tonight, but expect Sydney to still win, so Over 2.5 Goals and Sydney to win I feel are both good options. The Roar-Sydney HT-FT Double may well be worth exploring too. Will decide closer to the game, but there is one bet I have already placed: Total Corners - Line 10 - Over @ $1.87 (Sportingbet). Regardless of whether the Roar do or do not score, they are, as BJ points out, having lots of shots on goal, which of course, can lead to corners. Sydney too are a very attacking side and with players like Carney and Brosque on the wings are capable of attacking the flanks and making plays that result in corner kicks. Not really the type of bet that you can generally bet on without thinking it's a bit of a lottery, but with both sides so aggressive, and the likelihood of both teams having strong attacking spells during the game, I feel that this option is actually a good one for tonight.

Re: Australia - A League Round 14 (Nov 24-26) Ok, I'm on: Over 2.5 goals @ 2.10 (Layed Unders @ 1.9 on Betfair) Over 10 corners @ 1.87 (Sportingbet) Sydney to win @ 1.75 (Sportingbet) And a very very cheeky bet of Sydney to win 5-1 @ 101 (Sportingbet). Not one I expect to come off but Sydney are finding form and on the off chance they really hit their straps this is on.
