Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept cough, cough - UEFA agreed there was no problem in the Slavia Prague v Spurs game as ENIC own under 50 per cent in the Prague club... Anyway, this is a fixture I would stay well clear of - I'd expect the Spurs to get through (especially given Slavia's diabolical form), but I personally expect a draw in the first leg. Although the away price might be tempting, one never knows what's going on behind the scenes:(

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept Generally, Czech teams have very little chance to get through, in the first leg, 6/4 for Hearts @ home to beat Sparta, even though Sparta have a new coach? It's a bargain and moreover can be sure laid back @ much shorter price come Thursday.

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept Molde won yesterday against poor Viking.Importnant midf Hoseth got an injury to his knee and not sure if he are ready for the first leg with rangers. If Rangers travel with best squad they should have a good chance for glory because Molde is one of the worse teams in tippeligaen.Rangers clearly the better team so 2.10 looks very tasty but first need some team news Start will not play at their own ground but ar Åråsen were Lillestrøm play their home games so there won`t be a great home advantage for Start. But they won at home yesterday vs Lillestrøm so form is good.Anyway if Ajax travel with best squad it will be very difficult for Start.Prizes pretty much as expected.

Liberec was a bit unlucky not to qual for the champions league.Just a silly mistake from their goal destroyed their hopes. How good is Red star and with so many new players in past months they maybe need some time to reach their best level?(Only look at chelsea,to many stars:rollin) What do you think Kojic2003 ?

Basta, Milovanovic, Perovic, Milijas, Bisevac, Trisovic are all Serbia U21 players(some of them, like Trisovic, Basta and Bisevac, are in the national team), so they know each other very well. There should be no problems I believe.Ecuador international Segundo Alejandro Castillo should be a good replacement for captain Kovacevic who signed for Lens a week ago.Ailton is always special story, a little bit unpredictable, but it seems he's picked up some good form and should definitely make a great partnership with last season's top scorer Djokic(20 goals)! Two very simliar players... The bench doesn't look so bad either, with new signing, former Brazil U20 player Ely Tadeu(Vasco da Gama), Japan international Suzuki, former S&M U21 star Purovic, who was just awesome last season, hitting a number of important goals, against Sporting Braga, AS Roma and so on...There's also Trajkovic who was expected to be a new star and a true leader of this team, but he's in big downtrend period in the last 12 months! All in all, Liberec are definitely favourites in the first leg and I believe they won't lose this one, but it's all about value and Red Star ain't a bad side, so...As mentioned, Red Star completely outplayed and trashed Liberec in pre-season friendly, but Zigic, who was on the scoresheet twice, left the club as well as some other top players, so this could be a different story. One thing is pretty sure.Red Star will play much faster football from now on.With the likes of Djokic and Ailton up front and Serbian national team player Trisovic and Bulgarian national team player Georgiev on the wings, there should be much more options...It would be a real shame not to mention Milovanovic and especially Milijas who are capable of scoring some cracking goals. Most of Milijas' goals are a real piece to watch!

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept Standard - Celta Vigo First of all, I'm a fan of the home team. So those who think I'm biased, can stop reading now. I don't think that my team can take the 3 points from this match. On the contrary... The facts are ... 1. Standard has a new team and altough won against Lierse in our competition (which was very weak) is still searching for its automatisms. Our defence is still weak, specially our left back so I really fear Vigo's counterattack's. 2. We have 2 suspensions : Fellaini, our athletic youngster who has obtained a place in the team, therefore important AND former striker from Sporting Lisbon, Sa Pinto, the 'Lion' who brought our attack fire and experience and at the same time some serinity. 3. We have always difficulties with Spanish teams (we got beaten by Athletic Bilboa 2 years ago with 1-7). The team we have now is only 1 or 2 players better in comparison with that year. Spanish teams play very technical and at the same time organised football. We missed the Champions League to a hair against Steaua Bucarest and I even (also our manager) estimate this opponent as much stronger as Steaua. Therefore Celta Vigo 2 @ 2.5 7/10 Celta Vigo x2 @ 1.60 9/10 (some bookies offer crazy prices like this one, 1.60 is way to much! Even 1.40 is worth to take!)

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept The Greek team hopes that the 10th continuously participation in the CL competition will be like the season 1998/99. Of course not to mention that the game is a sold out and the fans are waiting so much that game. The manager of Olympiakos has decided the staring eleven and Rivaldo will be one of them. No serious problems for the home team and Trod Solid will field the best possible line up. On the other hand, Valencia have started primera la-liga very well with two wins but for today’s game it has 4 important players missing (Baraha, Almeida, Del’Orno and Hoackin). These missing don’t mean that Olympiakos will win the game easily but I am confident that the Greek team can win every opponent at home with the support of its fans. Somebody cannot understand this if he will not attend a game. The supporters really push the team and it is like the 12th player. OLYMPIAKOS (0) Sportingbet @ 1.909

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept Lokomotiv Moscow – Zulte-Waregem:

Zulte-Waregem hasn’t got the good form of last season anymore. The strikers they bought haven’t got the same profile as Salou (striker who could keep the ball with him and then pass it to the upcoming midfielders), so the coach had to change their way of playing. This is causing more problems then planned. Zulte-Waregem gained 4 points out of 15 this season, and last weekend they lost at home with 1-2 against Cercle (one of the worst teams in the league). There are also some missings in the team: Dindeleux(defender who would take place on the bench anyway, but I find him better then Leleu, who is getting too slow), D’Haemers, Meert and Van Nieuwenhuyze (three midfielders, normally in the starting 11) and Roussel (good striker, but has some fysical problems). Muslin, the coach of Lokomotiv knows the Belgian competition and Zulte-Waregem from last season, when he was half a season coach for Lokeren. Lokomotiv played some Belgian teams in the previous years, but never lost:

Sep 24, 02: Club Brugge – Lokomotiv: 0-0 Nov 13, 02: Lokomotiv – Club Brugge: 2-0 Oct 24, 2001: Anderlecht – Lokomotiv: 1-5 Sep 11, 2001: Lokomotiv – Anderlecht: 1-1

Both Anderlecht and Club Brugge are better teams then Zulte-Waregem.

I don’t know wether Lokomotiv is missing some important players, but the difference in quality and the fact that Lokomotiv is in the winning mood(they won their last 4 games) and Zulte-Waregem has been far from impressive this season and is missing some important players makes me go for a Lokomotiv-win. Zulte-Waregem has also no European experience. 9/10 on 1 @1.35 (Bet-at-home) 4/10 on H1 (0-1) @1.80 (Bet-at-home)

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept Double with Skybet is my bet. There are a number of teams that look good, such as Alkmaar, Sevilla and Marseille but I've narrowed it down to the two who look to offer the best value. Ajax ( 4/6 ) at Start Ajax have won five of their six games so far including an away win in Copenhagen, however, a sloppy home performance saw them exit from the Champions League in the return leg in Amsterdam. Start are eighth of fourteen in the Norwegian Tippeligaen and only scraped past Irish league side, Drogheda on penalties in the previous round. The game is being played at the ground of Lilliestrom, which should be a help to Ajax. Rangers ( 11/10 ) at Molde Molde are languishing in twelfth position in Norway and have lost eleven of their nineteen league games and got to this stage by ousting Latvian side, Skonto Riga 2-1 on aggregate. Rangers have won three and drawn three of their six league games but, in truth, they could easily have won all of their games as they have been guilty of squandering many chances in these games. They should be at full strength for this game and probably only need to convert one chance to win the game

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept Hertha Berlin - OB Odense. The referee for this match is Bulgarian Anton Genov and he has just been dished a 4-match ban (an a last caution for a permanent ban) by the Commission on Referees, a part of the Bulgarian Football Union. The reason -> poor refereeing in his last match in the local league: Lokomotiv Plovdiv - Beroe (Genov tried to help the guests and yet it finished 1:0). Make what you want of that info, I think that if he decides to favour one of the teams on Thursday, he would certainly choose Hertha.

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept I've got a free £10 bet on Spurs with Ladbrokes at 11/10. It's a first taste of Europe for 7 years, brilliant away following expected and decent playing conditions. Looks like Lennon will be at least on the bench and we played quite well against Man Utd despite losing. Mido likely to start as Berbatov is still injured. I'm confident :)

Martin Jol said in the last interview that european cups are veeeery important for his team and he is going to field the best possible eleven tommorrow and ask the players for full concentration etc. Tottenham with a win could make a nice come back to the winning route, couldn't they? :dude

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept

Atromitos v Seville game has been removed from the Bet365 listings!
Hopefully it might pop back as I want to put some money on Seville tomorrow. I think they are in fantastic form at the moment and obviously already know the road to success in this competition. Bet365 has been a bit slow for me today at times. For the first time too I had an error in my selection- I chose an anytime scorer and a HT/FT popped up. The guy online voided my bet though which was nice- as long as Real Madrid don't win HT/FT. ;)

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept

a sure home win is
panathinakos
domestically their home record is great, recent form is great, too much quality here for the mets. give them a 80% chance of winning, so 1.34 at betfair is a steal! im putting a couple of hundred on them.
Agree that Panathinaikos is great at home but they are playing on a neutral ground, don't they? Can someone value Metalurh? @ all the Romanians here: any thoughts on Rapid - Nacional? Is 1.70 a good odd? Question also is, how good is Nacional... For me, Lokomotiv M. - Zulte is clear 1. They have no experience at all and they aren't playing their best football at the moment.

AZ Alkmaar v Kayserispor (19:00 BST)1.364.338.20
At a glance this match looks a simple AZ win... However odds are not realistic. Kayserispor was the suprise of the last year in Turkey. Also Played very good matches till now. After the last years success Kayseri bought good players including Toledo, Iglesias and M.H. Akagunduz. Striker Gokhan UNAL and right winger Mehmet TOPUZ are promising young talents... With these unrealistic odds i'll try 2X with low stakes...

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept Considering terrible shape of Austria Wien in the domestic league (last place,no win after 8 games!Last one they lost 1-0 at Altach, new comers from Erste Liga),they have big problems to score,I see a win for Legia Warsaw at home, even if odds are not great now around 1,70....If news from Poland are good from the home side it can be good stuff for combos.... I want to add that in my opinion are crazy the odds on Derry-Psg,Bwin has 7,30 4,05 1,38....Derry is very strong at home and they'll have full strenght for this game,Psg isn't doing great things at home (last year too) and left home three internationals...The value is on Derry as I think they aren't easy to beat at home.

Re: UEFA Cup matches - Thu 14th Sept Nacional are not that good, they lost against sporting last game 1-0, but I haven't seen them playing anything out of the ordinary to notice, I expect them to lose. New coach is a good coach but I dont think Nacional will get there! As a Portuguese I hope they do, as a punter ... I don't believe they will!

R Probable lineup: Red Star: Randjelovic - Basta, Bisevac, Gueye, Perovic - Georgiev, Milovanovic(cap), Castillo, Trisovic (Milijas) - Djokic, Ailton Btw, these two sides met each other in pre-season friendly.Red Star won 3:0!Different circumstances though...
Gueye is suspended,Tutoric instead of him-not young, but not experienced player either, anyway he is much better than Joksimovic(he was often in first eleven last year)Basta is injured,Pantic instead of him, imo he is better in defence than Basta Bajevic words on press conference: They are a very good squad which plays hard and emphasizes team play. Individually they don’t have any outstanding players. They tend not to risk much, emphasizing collective defence. Our goal is to return with a good score, but that does not mean that we intend to play a defensive game. Still, there are two legs to be played, so we don’t need to rush head first. I watched Spartak M - Liberec match and altough three goals were scored it was awful match without chances and actions :unsure, btw first match 0:0. Tomorrow same result is pretty possible, and under 2.5 (1,60+) will be in my main combo ;) That friendly match really doesnt mean anything,'cause both teams were in totally different lineups, but hopefully Zvezda will win today again :clap:clap:clap Under 2.5 goals 1.60 7/10
