Re: PartyPoker Monster Series 10mins away from first break. 4200 players left in and im happily sitting on 4100 chips, playing quite tight. Happy with the way things are going but long way to go yet, my main aim is simply to qualify for the monthly freeroll (get in top 2000), If I can manage that I will then concentrate on picking up some money. :) Hard luck George.

Re: PartyPoker Monster Series I bow out in 449th place. Delighted tbh considering nearly 6000 started. Pick up 60 bucks and that entry to the big freeroll. Something inside me says I could have gone further but I got no cards at all once we were down to the final 5 or 600 and with the blinds and ante's so high it got difficult. Still delighted and hanging my head high. :D :dude

Re: PartyPoker Monster Series yeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss :nana 4th attempt on the $6 tables, was short stacked for quite a while and then picked up a few cards. Knew if I had could get to heads up I would qualify. Made HU but he had 3x my stack but gradually wound him down and finished him off with a flopped flush :ok Needed that, the way my poker has been going I have seriously been thinking about walking away from it totally :(

Re: PartyPoker Monster Series Took me 6 games to qualify this week - so I now have 3 qualifications from 20 games which I'm happy with :-) Well done Gazza :ok Though I have to say I dont like your approach .... This is a long tournament (8 months), so unless you intend to keep depositing, it needs to be sustainable...... The $6 games you are playing offer NO cash prizes, so no matter how succesful you are, and even if you win them all, you will get no financial return from these STTs at all. You are instead reliant on cashing in a 6000 seat freeroll!!!! Yes you can do it (and you WILL do it if you get in enough), but your variance in this will be quite high!!! I believe I can make a fairly consistent profit on cash STTs on Party - so I use my initial deposit as my bankroll to play these, and ONLY play the Monster qualifiers with my profits ....... that way qualifying for EVERY monster weekly final is sustainable over the 8 months without (hopefully) needing to redeposit...... In addition, the $5 + $1 STTs/Qualifiers (with 20% rake) require you to have a significantly larger edge over your opponents than the $10 + $1 STTs/Qualifiers (with 10% rake). I think you need to look for "long term sustainability" mate, which I am not convinced you have at the moment........

Re: PartyPoker Monster Series

In addition' date=' the $5 + $1 STTs/Qualifiers (with 20% rake) require you to have a significantly larger edge over your opponents than the $10 + $1 STTs/Qualifiers (with 10% rake).[/quote'] I'm not 100% convinced about this part. The problem with playing the $10+1 tables is that you're effectively playing a $5 qualifier (where you need to come first) and a $5 STT (with normal STT prize structure simultaneously, and paying a $1 rake. But the best strategy to come first is almost certainly different from the best strategy to maximize your profits in the STT. The STT specialists on PL seem to think that the best STT strategy is to play tight to make sure of making the money, and not bother too much about whether you come first, second or third until you're sure of at least third place. But this is almost certainly not the best strategy if you need to come first. I've played a couple of the $5+1 tables and a couple of the $10+1's (without any success: I kept losing to somebody making a flush on the river ... it's fixed, I tell you! Fixed!). When I played the $10+1 tables, I was really confused about what I was trying to achieve. Of course, the 20% rake needs considering, and you may be right that it outweighs the disadvantage of playing in "schizophrenic mode". And it might be that having everybody else also playing in schizophrenic mode also helps significantly. But it might be that a better way to make it "sustainable" is to try to fund your entries into $5+1 tables by playing normal STT's with full prize pools (or whatever other form of poker is most profitable for you). And if you can easily move money around with Neteller, this doesn't even have to be on Party Poker. And if you're aiming to sustain the campaign entirely from the $10+1 table prize money (ignoring any return from the MTTs), then you'd effectively need a 100% yield from the STTs, which I'm pretty sure I couldn't manage in the long term. I suppose what I'm really saying is that if you're playing the $10+1 tables, you're simultaneously playing a $5 qualifier and a $5 STT with different objectives, but with a standard 10% rake. If you're playing the $5+1 tables, you're paying an extra $0.50 rake for the qualifier, but to compensate, you have a free choice of the "money-earning" half of the operation (which could even be a higher stake table if you think you can make more money on these). I don't know really. Probably it depends on the individual. But just a thought.

Re: PartyPoker Monster Series Very interesting slapdash!!! Plenty of food for thought :ok My "sustainability" is coming from the $10 + $1 STT's, not the $10 + $1 Monster Qualifiers ..... not sure if that was clear..... Basically I was allowing myself a $10 + $1 Monster Qualifier every time I got my Bankroll above $200 (though now it's approaching $300) - so I'm reasonably confident on the sustainability. Interesting (and correct) observations of the schizophrenic nature of the $10 + $1 Monster Qualifiers :unsure

Re: PartyPoker Monster Series Interesting that entry is 750 down on last week - meaning 40% of the field will qualify for the $1m monthly freeroll...... I'm not going too great this week - treading water - on 3310 (3000 starting stack) Hang on George :ok
