Liverpool vs Real Madrid

The 2021/22 Champions League Final is finally here and it's the highly-anticipated clash between Premier League club Liverpool and La Liga side Real Madrid in an 8pm BST kick-off on Saturday night from the Stade de France in Paris. This is a re-match of the 2017/18 that saw the Spanish team win 3-1 but the game was not without its controversial and glorious moments such as Sergio Ramos injuring Mohamed Salah and Gareth Bale scoring a stunning bicycle kick. Will we be treated to a similar classic here?

Liverpool have had a season to remember already after winning the EFL Cup and FA Cup already this season but the Reds were left gutted that they couldn't pull off an epic Premier League title win as rivals Manchester City just about got over the line in dramatic fashion last weekend. Jurgen Klopp's men will be aiming to win a second Champions League trophy in four seasons. It could also be the first time since 2000/01 that the club have won three cup competitions in a single season. This time around would undoubtedly eclipse that last achievement due to them being in contention for the Champions League rather than the UEFA Cup. Liverpool have only suffered 3 defeats in their 62 competitive matches this season. The team finished top of a group including Atletico Madrid, Porto, and AC Milan with a 100% record. They then navigated their way past Inter Milan, Benfica, and Villarreal in the knockout stages.

Real Madrid will come into this game looking to make it a double this season having already sealed the La Liga title. Carlo Ancelotti's side are targeting a 14th trophy win in this competition with Ancelotti himself aiming to win the competition for a record fourth time having done so with AC Milan in 2002/03 and 2006/07 and Real Madrid in 2013/14. Los Blancos haven't had the most vintage of seasons having lost more games in this competition alone than Liverpool have lost over their entire season. The Spanish club eased through their group as winners with 5 wins from their 6 games but did suffer a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Moldovan minnows Sheriff Tiraspol. The team then squeezed through each of their knockout rounds by a single goal on aggregate as they eliminated PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City. In fact, Real became notorious for their incredible comebacks against the odds inspired by star striker Karim Benzema who bagged 10 goals in their 6 knockout matches alone.

I don't think many people are surprised to see Liverpool in this final and for all their star names I'm not sure many people expected Real Madrid to reach their stage after their humbling to Sheriff Tiraspol in the group stage and then their dire situations in all three knockouts ties. Yet, here we are! You have to admit there is a feeling that this could be Real's time due to the manner in which they have reached this stage. Is it luck that will run out? Or is it a relentless desire to win that has got them this far and will take them all the way? I'm not sure we'll see a winner after 90 minutes and this could go all the way. That price for a Real Madrid win looks very tempting but I'll avoid backing it simply because Liverpool just don't know when they are beaten. Neither team does to be fair.

Liverpool vs Real Madrid

Liverpool is hoping to win again following the 3:1 Premier League triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Although they were close to snatching the title in the final round, their quadruple dream fell apart with Manchester City's 3:2 win over Aston Villa. It's been seldom in recent times that Liverpool has shown defensive steel. The facts show that Liverpool has been scored against in 5 of their previous six games, leaking six goals in the process. Nevertheless, the Reds are in positive momentum, and they want to make the final step toward winning the Champions League. The Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp does not have any fitness worries at all ahead of this match, owing to a completely injury-free squad available to choose from.

In their previous game, Real Madrid drew 0:0 in the La Liga tie with Real Betis. However, that draw didn't bother them much since Los Blancos had already secured the La Liga title. A run of resolute displays by the Real Madrid defenders has seen their' goals against' tally amounting to 3 from their past six fixtures in total. Over that same period of time, their forwards have scored 14. Real Madrid had a tough road to the finals, eliminating PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City in the process. Owing to a completely healthy squad available to choose from, the Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has no fitness worries whatsoever before this game.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

It is going to be an exciting game, and both teams have equal chances of winning the competition. Nevertheless, Real Madrid has been real comeback kings in the Champions League this season, and we believe they deserve to be rewarded with a win in this one.

Goals Market Prediction

Both teams have very talented offenses, and it should be a quite efficient match. Karim Benzema and Mo Salah will lead their sides in the final third, and we don't think either team will keep the clean sheet in this encounter.

Hopefully we've got a great game to look forward to. Pretty much anything could happen but, all things considered, I'm not inclined towards a drab draw and the tie decided on penalties. I think Liverpool get the job done in 90 minutes with both teams scoring. Hopefully, if it does go to extra time, it's the sort of game that you're glad to get another half hour of.

As the obscure markets have already been covered by "the 2 Steve's" I'll focus on the one that everyone's talking about; who will/won't play the full 90 minutes! :lol

Mane not to play the whole match 2/1 and Salah not to do so 47/20 with Uni

If you look at league games they'd both be 4 or 5/1 shots to get the hook but it's a different story in the CL. Mane was subbed off in 8 out of 10 starts and Salah in 6 out of 11. Last season the numbers were 3 out of 8 and 4 out of 9.

In the 10 games they both started this season, both were subbed in 5, 1 in 3 and neither in 2.

I know it's the final and much will depend on how the game pans out but I think 2/1 or better for each of them makes it a value proposition.
