Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool

Kick Off: 10/19/2021 15:00

Liverpool will travel to the Wanda Metropolitano as they take on Atletico Madrid in group B of the Champions League.

Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid have shown tremendous improvement under Diego Simeone in recent years and are a formidable force in Europe.  With 5 wins and a draw in Laliga, they seek to extend their unbeaten home run across all competitions to 13 matches. Before the international break, Atletico Madrid got a 2-0 La Liga win over Barcelona. Atletico Madrid have kept three clean sheets in their last three games at home.

Liverpool

As the only undefeated team in the EPL, Liverpool sit in 2nd position with 5 wins and 3 draws. Liverpool smashed Watford 5-0 last Saturday away from home. In their last Champions League outing, they came away with a 5-1 thumping of Porto. Now unbeaten in 20 games across all competitions, Liverpool have scored 27 goals from their last eight matches so far.

Prediction

Atletico Madrid have grown in stature since the start of the season and are one of Europe's most formidable opponents. Liverpool have been ruthless in recent weeks and have scored 12 goals in their last three games. Expect it will be a tight match which Liverpool will hold a slight edge to win with their excellent attackers.

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) vs RB Leipzig

Kick Off: 10/19/2021 15:00

Paris Saint-Germain are set to play RB Leipzig at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Paris Saint Germain (PSG)

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) sit pretty atop the Ligue 1 rankings with 10 wins from 12 in all competitions this term. They were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Club Brugge on matchday one. However, Paris Saint Germain marched to a 2-0 win over Manchester City in their most recent European contest. So far, they have recorded of six wins from six Ligue 1 encounters this term and  scored at least two goals each time.

RB Leipzig

With only three wins to boast from their last 10 games in all tournaments, RB Leipzig lost 1-2 to Brugge at home the last game week in the Champions League. As for their domestic league, RB Leipzig drew 1-1 against Christian Streich's Freiburg in the Bundesliga. RB Leipzig are also on a five-game winless run away from home since beating Sandhausen in the DFB-Pokal back in August.

Prediction

RB Leipzig whose league form has not been fantastic have endured a slow start under new manager Jesse Marsch. In contrast, Paris Saint Germain's talent means that they are the favourites to win almost every game they play this season.

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) to Win with AH -1.5

Club Brugge vs Manchester City

Kick Off: 10/19/2021 12:45

Club Brugge will somehow attempt to claim another memorable Champions League scalp when they play host to Manchester City in Group A on Tuesday night.

Club Brugge

Club Brugge are in second place in their domestic league and have punched above their weight in the UEFA Champions League. Club Brugge had managed a 1-2 win against Leipzig on the road in the last match-day. Before that, they got their memorable 1-1 draw with PSG. So far, Club Brugge are unbeaten in seven home games across all competitions.

Manchester City

Manchester City are in third place in the Premier League standings at the moment and have excelled in recent weeks. Manchester City have lost 2-0 on the road against PSG in their latest CL fixture, which ended a 10-game unbeaten run for them away from home in the Champions League. Despite suffering an early setback for competing Champions League crown, Manchester City still impress domestically and enter this game on the back of a 2-0 win over Burnley.

Prediction

Club Brugge can pack a punch on their day and are perfectly capable of pulling off an upset in this match. However, Manchester City are the better team on paper and should be able to win this game.

PSG vs RB Leipzig

Although they have been dominating Ligue 1 this season, PSG still hasn’t reached the optimal level of performance. They lost against Rennes on the road just before the international break, while the victory over Angers last weekend was pretty unconvincing. Mauricio Pichettino’s side trailed at halftime, and they needed a late penalty – which was very doubtful – to secure all three points. PSG showed they are vulnerable in the game against Club Brugge, where they picked up just a point. However, a victory against Manchester City launched them to the top spot in the group. Nevertheless, Kylian Mbappe and the lads should be more confident in the upcoming period and stabilize their game.

After Julian Nagelsmann left the bench, RB Leipzig faced many issues this season. They failed to beat Freiburg on the road last weekend and missed the chance to enter the top six in Bundesliga. The Red Bulls are already eight points behind Bayern Munich, and they cannot get back in the title race if they don’t improve their performances. Things in the Champions League go even worse, as Christopher Nkunku and the lads lost both matches so far. The knockout stage seems very far, and RB Leipzig should focus on the battle for the 3rd spot and a place in the Europa League. However, a challenging task is ahead of them, and they need the best performance to get back home undefeated.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

Despite not being very convincing, PSG is still a firm favorite in this match. RB Leipzig cannot stabilize its form, and they should search for points elsewhere. Therefore, we believe PSG will come out as a winner from this clash.

Goals Market Prediction

RB Leipzig has improved its finishing lately, but they have conceded one goal per match in Bundesliga so far. Their defense in the Champions League is very leaky, and since PSG has an impressive attacking force, we should see at least three goals in this encounter.

Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool

The home side had more time to prepare for this game since their match against Granada was postponed last weekend. Therefore, Atletico Madrid heads to this game after beating Barcelona in the La Liga derby just before the international break. Los Colchoneros sit in 4th place in the domestic championship, being three points behind Real Sociedad but with one game in hand. Diego Simeone’s side still hasn’t lost at Wanda Metropolitano this season, but they allowed their rivals to get away undefeated twice. Luis Suarez returned to his recognizable form, as he scored four goals on the previous four occasions. However, Atletico Madrid will have a tough task in this one, as Liverpool comes to town.

On the other hand, the visitors are full of confidence after their 5:0 victory away to Watford last weekend. Liverpool scored ten goals in their previous two matches on the road, and they aim for the third win in the Champions League group stage. Jurgen Klopp’s side is one point behind the top-placed Chelsea in the Premier League, and they sit in second place. Mohamed Salah and the lads still haven’t tasted a defeat in all competition this season, and they want to keep their streak running. The Reds missed the chance to win at away grounds just once, and their overall form has been excellent lately. Three points from this match would see them very close to qualifying for the knockout stage.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

Liverpool has been very convincing this season, and they aim high in all competitions. It is going to be an entertaining clash, as Atletico Madrid will also search for points at the home ground. However, the visitors are slight favorites here, and we’ll back them since the odds are generous.

Goals Market Prediction

Atletico Madrid managed to keep its net intact three times in a row at Wanda Metropolitano, but they’ll have a tough task to repeat this. They will also miss Stefan Savic in the back, and with Liverpool’s lethal attack, we could see goals in both nets in this match.

AFC Ajax

They do not have strength in depth to handle two-fronted attack on Holland Eredivisie and European games. And some of their key players went for International duty and suffer from virus FIFA. Luckily they get a winning streak before, ranking the top in Group C with 6 points.

Borussia Dortmund

Although lots of their key players went for International duty, Erling Haland did not come for it due to injury so that he has enough time to rest. In last game, he’s back and scores twice, helping the team defeat FSV Mainz 05 at 3-1.

Verdict:

Borussia Dortmund are certainly better than AFC Ajax. AFC Ajax are not in good condition. Borussia Dortmund are in form. It is believed that Borussia Dortmund are going to win with the help of Erling Haland.

 Chelsea VS Malmo FF

Kick Off: 10/20/2021 15:00

Chelsea

The hosts won one of the first two games, ranking the second place now. Chelsea began to defend the Champions League title in September with a 1-0 victory over Zenit, and Lukaku scored the only goal in the game. This is still the Belgian's recent goal on the Chelsea shirt, because his goal shortage has now continued to six games - although his team has won four of them, they have lost to important games between Manchester City and Juventus. The defending champion took three points in the first two rounds and may up to six points in the upcoming game against the Swedish champion.

Malmo FF

Malmo has not scored in the Champions League this season. They will be disappointed with the opening two performances - it may be understandable to lose 3-0 to Juventus, but it will be sad to lose 4-0 to Zenit. As many as seven goals were conceded in the process. At present, the team is in the fierce competition for the title of Allsvenskan. With seven games left, it is tied for the top with Djurgardens if and AIK fotboll. Therefore, the manager has to decide whether to admit defeat in the Champions League and keep his most important player for the league, or stick to both sides.

Prediction

Chelsea will be confident of winning three consecutive games at home. Malmo's poor performance in this year's Champions League may be the best chance for Chelsea to get all three points.

Pick: Chelsea

 Benfica vs Bayern Munchen

Kick Off: 10/20/2021 15:00

The Primeira Liga continues this weekend and will extend into the new week as Benfica host Boavista on Monday.

Benfica

Benfica sit second in the group having taken four points from their opening two games. However, Benfica have not quite been at their best in their recent domestic affairs. They suffered the first Primeira Liga (after seven straight wins)defeat of the season against Portimonense (0-1) after overcame FC Barcelona in latest CL match. They have scored at least two goals each time in their last five Champions League fixtures at home.

Bayern Munchen

Bayern Munchen now have boasted 10 wins from 12 in all competitions since the season kicked off. They oversaw a comprehensive 5-0 success over Dynamo Kiev on home soil on matchday two. As for their domestic league, Bayern Munchen beat Gerardo Seoane's Bayer Leverkusen 5-1 in the Bundesliga. So far, their goal difference of +8 is already the best out of all 32 teams in the group stage in Champions League.

Prediction

Benfica have assembled a good squad, and made waves after comprehensively beating Barcelona. Bayern Munich are top of the group, as the usual do. The visitor should exploit an ageing host backline to march to another convincing win.

Club Brugge vs Manchester City

The Champions League makes a return this week after a small time without Europe's top table competition entertaining us due to domestic and international fixtures. It's Club Brugge versus Manchester City in a 5:45pm BST kick-off at the Jan Breydelstadion on Tuesday night in Group A. Believe it or not, the home side come into this game in a stronger position in the group than the visiting team but will that still be the case come full time?

Club Brugge have put in a very commendable effort so far in this group. Manager Philippe Clement will have seen his team up against it when the group was drawn with their opponents being Manchester City, PSG, and RB Leipzig but the Belgian side are currently 2nd in the group after a superb 1-1 draw at home with PSG and a brilliant 2-1 victory away to RB Leipzig. Less than 2.5 goals have been scored in Club Brugge's last three home matches. This is a team that has only lost 1 of their 11 matches in all competitions but that was a heavy 6-1 loss away to Gent in the Belgian First Division A back on 29th August.

Manchester City come into this game knowing a loss would throw their qualification for the next phase into real doubt. Pep Guardiola's men pulled off an entertaining 6-3 win at home to RB Leipzig in their opening group game but then suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to PSG in their second game. The Citizens are starting to settle into their season now and will welcome back to Brazilian duo of Ederson and Gabriel Jesus after they missed the weekend win over Burnley due to international duty. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in 3 of the last 4 matches City have played including their last two victories.

Given how the Manchester City defence has really tightened up with 6 clean sheets kept already this season you have a feeling we could see a low scoring game again. Club Brugge will certainly set up in a similar manner to how they have done with an emphasis on physical play and being organised. City have faced these sorts of battles before and playing Burnley just before this game will probably help them prepare for a similar physical test. I can see City coming away with a business-like win.

Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool

The second Tuesday night game in the Champions League that I'm going to preview is the 8pm clash between Atletico Madrid and Liverpool at the Wanda Metropolitano in Group B. These two sides are currently positioned in 2nd and 1st in the group and a win here would put them on the brink of qualifying for the last 16. However, a loss could inflict irreparable damage on their morale and self-belief.

Atletico Madrid are coming off the back of a La Liga title-winning season and it appears that Diego Simeone's side are not looking any weaker this season. The Indios are 4th in La Liga at the moment but only 3 points off the top spot and they've followed a tight 0-0 draw at home to Porto in their opening group stage game with a 2-1 win away to a useful AC Milan team. Home form has been crucial for Atleti with the team remaining unbeaten in their last 12 matches on home turf. This match will see former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez face off against his old team. The Uruguayan has bagged 4 goals in his last 4 games for the Spanish champions.

Liverpool come into this game in what can only be described as close to their best form ever under Jurgen Klopp. The Reds are unbeaten in their 11 games across all competitions so far this season. Everything seems to be coming together. Liverpool look very sound defensively having kept 6 clean sheets. The team is 2nd in the Premier League and just 1 point behind league leaders Chelsea. It's also two wins from two in the Champions League after a dramatic 3-2 win at home to AC Milan was followed up with a 5-1 win away against Porto. Mohamed Salah's form has been identified as one of the key reasons behind Liverpool's superb form right now and the Egyptian has scored 10 goals in all competitions already this season.

Both of these teams are very evenly matched. It has been Atletico Madrid that have held the advantage over Liverpool in recent head-to-head meetings. In fact, Liverpool have only won 1 of their 6 encounters and Atletico Madrid won both legs when they met in the 2019/20 Champions League last 16. It's hard to bet against either side right now so I'll go for a score draw.

Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool

Liverpool have lost the last three UCL visits  to Spanish teams:

6/04/2021:Real Madrid vs Liverpool 3-1

18/02/2020:Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool 1-0

1/05/2019:Barcelona vs Liverpool 3-0

All that said, the Reds have started the 2021-2022 season on a high note and currently unbeaten in the premier league. So far the Reds are good offensively and defensively, and have managed to score more than 28+ goals in 8 EPL games. Additionally in 2 of the UCL games played in 2021,Liverpool have scored 8 and conceded 3 goals.

Atletico Madrid have a great form at home, and are also good defensively but their fire power doesn't match the current Liverpool form.

Benfica vs Bayern Munich

The hosts aim for the Primeira Liga title, and they have been on a good track so far. Benfica sits in the top spot in the domestic championship, but a defeat against Portimonense broke their perfect record. Jorge Jesus’s side has been doing well in the Champions League as well, as they are second, being two points behind their upcoming rivals. Roman Yaremchuk and the lads have been excellent in the front, while Benfica should tighten its defense. The Eagles want to remain in the top two on the standings and secure the playoff spot, and if they don’t lose this match, they’ll stay second. However, a very challenging task is ahead of them.

Bayern Munich heads to this game after a confident 5:1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on the road last weekend. Julian Nagelsmann’s side netted five times already in the first half, and they picked up three points much easier than expected. The Bavarians are first in the Bundesliga, and if they maintain this level of performance, another title is very likely. Robert Lewandowski and the lads have been dominant in the Champions League as well, as they booked two wins scoring eight goals in total. On the other hand, Bayern hasn’t been too tight in defense, and they kept the clean sheet just once on the previous four occasions. The visitors will go for another victory, and if they succeed, Bayern will be very close to securing a place in the knockout stage.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

Benfica hasn’t been too convincing in the past two games, as they lost to Portimonense at home and cracked Trofense after extra time. On the other hand, Bayern is full of confidence, and we believe they’ll get back home with a win.

Goals Market Prediction

Both sides have been pretty efficient in front of the oppositions’ net lately, while their defenses haven’t been too tight. Benfica will try to stun their rivals, and we think both teams should be able to find the back of the net.

Manchester United vs Atalanta

The home side disappointed its fans once again, as they suffered a 4:2 defeat away to Leicester City last weekend. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under huge pressure, as his team celebrated just once in the previous five matches in all competitions. The Red Devils slipped down to the 6th spot in the Premier League, and they are already five points behind Chelsea. Although Cristiano Ronaldo and the lads scored on the previous three occasions, their teammates from defense cannot hold their backline tight. Manchester United lost in their first Champions League match against Young Boys on the road. However, they bounced back with a victory against Villarreal, which still keeps them in the race for the top two. United is one point behind Atalanta, and three points from this match would launch them to the top of the table.

On the other hand, Atalanta heads to this match after beating Empoli 4:1 on the road. That victory lifted them to 6th place, and La Dea is now just a point behind fourth-placed Roma. Josip Ilicic and the lads have improved their finishing lately, but their defense is still leaky. Atalanta has been excellent on the road this season, as they missed the chance to win only once in four outings in Serie A. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side tops the Champions League group standings, collecting four points from two matches. They aim for a place in the knockout stage, and Atalanta will try to get back home from Manchester with at least a point.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

Despite being in poor form lately, Manchester United is still a favorite in this clash. They should try to get back on the winning track, and we think they should secure an important victory in this encounter.

Goals Market Prediction

The Red Devils are very vulnerable in the back, and Atalanta is a team that can punish all their mistakes. Therefore, we don’t think either side will keep the clean sheet, and the crowd should enjoy an entertaining clash.

Manchester United vs Atalanta

The second night of Champions League action for the week is coming up on Wednesday evening. It's Manchester United versus Atalanta in Group F with the 8pm BST kick-off from Old Trafford. Pressure is building around the home team manager heading into this game and you have to say that failure to win this game would leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United's qualification hopes for the last 16 on the brink.

Manchester United have been far from convincing so far this season. The Red Devils are in 6th place in the Premier League, have already suffered elimination from the EFL Cup, and lost their opening Champions League group game by a 2-1 score away to group minnows Young Boys before needing a late winner to beat Villarreal 2-1 at home in their second group match. Solskjaer is once again facing calls to be sacked by certain sectors of the fan base. It's now 7 defeats from their last 12 Champions League games under Solskjaer. The team have also won just 1 of their last 4 home matches across all competitions. Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial are also set to be ruled out of team selection due to injury but the trio of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Fred, and Edinson Cavani are all available once again.

Atalanta are turning into quite the European outfit. Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has led his team to top of Group F with a 2-2 draw away to Villarreal followed up by a tight 1-0 win at home over Young Boys. The Italian side are also 6th in Serie A but have only lost 1 of their last 5 league matches. La Dea have won 5 of their last 7 away games in the Champions League showing themselves to be a very dangerous travelling team in this competition. Slovenian striker Josip Ilicic is also a man to watch having bagged 5 goals in his last 3 games. When you see the likes of him alongside Robin Gosens, Joakim Maehle, Berat Djimsiti, and Duvan Zapata then you start to see how strong this Atalanta side has become.

There is a lot more riding on this game for Manchester United than Atalanta and that's not only for the manager but the team itself. I have to agree with a fair few pundits who are claiming United need to ditch Solskjaer to go to the next level. Maybe I'm still scarred by his time as Cardiff manager but he's always seemed to fall short as a tactician. I feel this game could go either way. I can see United earning a typical scroungy win but at the same time they were so poor against Leicester I just can't bring myself to back them here.

Chelsea vs Malmo

The final game that I'm looking at in the Champions League this week is the 8pm BST clash on Wednesday night from Group H between Chelsea and Malmo at Stamford Bridge. This will be a game where the reigning Champions League winners will be expected to win against the group minnows who prop up the table but is there any evidence that we could see a shock here?

Chelsea have started this season well with the team currently top of the Premier League table, winning the UEFA Super Cup, and through to the 4th Round of the EFL Cup. However, their Champions League progress hit a stumbling block. After a narrow 1-0 win over Zenit St Petersburg at home in their opening group game the Blues ended up losing 1-0 away to Juventus. Thomas Tuchel's side are down in 3rd place with just 3 points from their opening two games but a likely victory here should improve that situation. The team is boosted by the anticipated return of the trio of Christian Pulisic, Toni Rudiger, and Thiago Silva. Defence will be key for Chelsea again here with the club having kept 6 clean sheets in their last 9 Champions League matches under Tuchel. However, Chelsea haven't scored more than twice in this competition under the former PSG and Borussia Dortmund gaffer.

Malmo defied expectations by just reaching this stage of the competition this season. The Blue Ones had to navigate their way past 8 qualification matches eliminating Riga FC, HJK Helsinki, Rangers, and Ludogorets Razgrad to progress to this phase. Head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson will be a familiar name to many as a player but he's carving a fine reputation out as a manager. His team are top of the 2021 Swedish Allsvenskan but they are fortunate other teams around them have slipped up just as much as them with Malmo already suffering 5 draw and 5 losses after 23 games. Unfortunately, it's been two defeats from their opening two group games with the 3-0 loss at home to Juventus followed up by a 4-0 defeat away to Zenit St Petersburg. Only Besiktas have conceded more goals with 8 goals conceded.

I think it's hard to see anything other than a business-like win for the home team here. These two sides are poles apart in terms of quality and experience. Chelsea are a team looking to complete a potential quadruple this season where as Malmo are simply looking to not get humiliated in this group stage. All the pressure is on the home team to demolish the visiting side but I think they'll win with mercy.

Stakes a bit stingy but will do without looking elsewhere for top up at shorter prices.

Their 8th corner arrived on 70 minutes. Currently regretting not going with the idea of topping up with a buy of their corners squared at 37. On 9 corners now so would have been a 54 point profit even if they don't add any more.
