Vitoria Setubal vs Boavista

This week's Portuguese Primeira Liga offer a few games that stretch through into Monday night. Our focus is on the 9pm GMT clash between Vitoria Setubal and Boavista at the Estadio do Bonfim where it would appear both teams are already starting to develop different targets for this coming season with the home side purely keen to consolidate and the away side looking to qualify for European competition.

Vitoria Setubal are in 14th place in the league table with just 9 points from their 9 matches so far. Interestingly, they've only managed 1 win all season but have only been defeated twice in a campaign that has produced 6 draws already. Albert Meyong is the interim manager after head coach Sandro was sacked last week. His solitary game in charge saw a 1-1 draw away to Santa Clara with just 10 men. So, it's a tricky one to work out how the side will perform under his leadership.

Boavista remain one of the great names of Portuguese football but the club is currently slightly off the desired pace of the European contenders in 6th place with 16 points. A win in this game would thrust Lito Vidigal's men into the top six and European qualification spaces. The team remains unbeaten so far this season with 3 wins and 6 draws. Hmm, it feels like the statistics are trying to tell us something.

12 draws already achieved by these two clubs in the league with Vitoria drawing 4 at home and Boavista drawing 3 away. I appreciate this trend has to change at some point but I'd feel so foolish if we bet on a home or away win and then the teams drew. You can only go with what the facts provide and given the uncertainty surrounding Meyong's capabilities as a head coach I feel Boavista could sneak it but I'll put an insurance policy down to cover the draw.
