StevieDay1983
OFI Crete vs Asteras Tripolis The fun and frolics of the Greek Super League continue this weekend. The "Derby of the Eternal Enemies" failed to deliver the outcome we had hoped but we dust ourselves off, vow never to back Olympiakos to get the job done ever again, and go again! This week, we have OFI Crete play Asteras Tripolis at the Theodoros Vardinogiannis Stadium for this 1pm BST kick-off on Sunday afternoon. OFI Crete have started their season reasonably well with the club currently sat in 6th place on 7 points from 4 league games. It means they are positioned within the Championship Round qualification places and head coach Georgios Simos will certainly take that come the final regular season game. The defeat to Volos last round brought to an end an unbeaten run of 4 games. Asteras Tripolis are languishing in 9th place with just 3 points from their 4 league games. It's only due to five teams also being unable to muster more than 3 points that they're so high up in the table. Usually, if a solitary win after 4 games is your only points tally for the season then you're lower down. Head coach Borja Jimenez understands the limitations of this squad and it would defy belief if they finish in the top six and qualify for the Championship Round. Was the win against Atromitos in their last game a turning point? It's tough to see beyond a home win here. Asteras Tripolis have been a difficult proposition on their own turf but on the road they've struggled. The previous two away defeats have been narrow but they're still losses. OFI Crete look assured at home and I can see them sealing a narrow win in this game to continue their decent start to the Super League campaign.
