2nd & 3rd yesterday

Art Deco 16.00 Fontwell 1 Pt Win @ 13\8 (bog)

Already a much better chaser than hurdler after only 3 starts in this sphere and again ran well when third of 12 at Uttoxeter (24f, heavy) 29 days ago. Races from same mark here and appeals as the one to beat with useful conditional in the saddle.

Sinbad Le Marin 14.07 Naas 1 Pt Win @ 6\5 (bog)

Promising sort. First run since leaving S. Wattel when third of 20 in juvenile hurdle at Punchestown (16.4f, heavy, 15/8) on NH debut 29 days ago. Likely to improve.

1st @ 13\8 & 9th today

Only the Bold 15.35 Hereford 1 Pt Win @ 13\8 (bog)

Fairly useful hurdles winner for Evan Williams and, having changed hands for £30,000 last spring, he proved a different proposition when making an impressive chase debut at Bangor (3m) at the end of November. Up 10 lb but he may well have more to offer in this sphere,

Sa Fureur 15.07 Punchestown 1 Pt Win @ 9\4 (bog)

Lightly-raced winner under Rules. Career best when winning 22-runner maiden hurdle at this course (16f, heavy, 3/1) 15 days ago, responding well. Likely to benefit from this step up in trip and he's high on the shortlist.

Double - Up today .... 1st @ 2\1 & 1st @ 9\4 :cigar

Spring Note 14.25 Lingfield 1 pt Win @ 13\8 (bog)

Mahler filly who looked a good prospect when making a winning bumper debut here in November. Failed to land the odds sent hurdling at Southwell (2m) but made an encouraging start all the same and seems sure to improve.

Caoimhe's Pet 15.17 Limerick 1 Pt Win @ 5\4 (bog)

5/1, excellent second of 22 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (16.4f, heavy) 31 days ago. Has to be taken seriously.

Chalk That Down 16.10 Ayr 1 Pt Win @ 2\1 (bog)

Half-sister to useful hurdler/smart chaser Born Survivor and fairly useful hurdler/chaser Theatre Flame. Showed plenty when second at Newcastle on debut and probably won't need to improve to go one better.

On Our Radar 13.10 Dundalk 1 Pt Win @ 11\8 (bog)

Twice-raced colt. Second of 9 in maiden (8/1) at this course (6f) 28 days ago, no match for winner. Form pick.

4th today

Spirits Day 16.40 Chepstow 1 Pt Win @ 11\8 (bog)

£12,000 3-y-o, Black Sam Bellamy gelding who looked a good prospect when making a winning debut in a C&D bumper (good to soft) 11 weeks ago, value for extra in coming from the back of the field. Leading claims under a penalty.

Surac 19.30 Dundalk 1 Pt Win @ 11\4 (bog)

Fair maiden on the level who has been in winning form over hurdles since. Hooded for 1st time when good third in juvenile hurdle (7/1) at Punchestown last time so he's a player on his polytrack debut back on the Flat.

Ruby Island 14.10 Wetherby 1 Pt Win @ 11\10 (bog)

Promising mare who made a fine start over hurdles when landing 2m Ayr maiden in December, drawing clear, with the third winning next time. Promises to do better and holds leading claims.

Good Land 13.20 Leopardstown 1 Pt Win @ 11\4 (bog)

Landed a Wexford bumper that's worked out well and ran out an impressive winner on what was essentially his hurdling debut at this course (20f) 37 days ago, making all. Entitled to improve and looks sure to go well up in grade.

Double Up 1st @ 11\10 & 3\1 :)

Striking Out 15.03 Hereford 1 Pt Win @ 2\1 (bog)

Irish point winner who won maiden hurdle at this track (19.7f) on Rules debut in April last year. Both efforts over timber disappointing after but took a step forward after 7 months off when runner-up on chase bow at Ludlow last month, clear of rest. Better to come.

Mighty Potter 13.40 Leopardstown 1 Pt Win @ 6\5 (bog)

Looked an outstanding prospect when readily winning 10-runner Drinmore Novices' Chase at Fairyhouse (19.8f, heavy) 63 days ago by 4½ lengths from Gaillard Du Mesnil. Sets a high standard with further progress anticipated.

2nd & 1st @ 6\5 yesterday

Patient Owner 16.15 Carlisle 1 Pt Win @ 5\2 (bog)

Yet to win a race of any description but he has relatively low mileage and chase debut second at Uttoxeter (3m, heavy) represented a step forward. That form looks solid (third and fourth have both win since) and a bold show is on the cards.

3rd today

Issar D'Airy 17.00 Taunton 1 Pt Win @ 5\4 (bog)

Pulled up on Lingfield handicap debut in November but a totally different proposition when returning there last week, winning comfortably despite a serious mid-race mistake. Looks well treated under a 7 lb penalty.

2nd today

Dev of Tara 16.40 Southwell 1 Pt Win @ Evens (bog)

Heavily backed on second start for Olly Murphy fitted with headgear and showed much-improved form when successful at Fakenham last week. Unpenalised for that so claims are fairly obvious.

One Last Tango 14.20 Fairyhouse 1 Pt Win @ 6\4  (bog)

Fairly useful hurdler. 2 wins from 6 runs this season. Latest win in hurdle at Wexford in October. 3/1, good third of 14 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, soft) 43 days ago. Just about the one to beat back in a novice.

2nd & 4th today

Crambo 15.25 Bangor 1 Pt Win @ 11\8 (bog)

Impressed when winning a pair of Huntingdon bumpers last season. Wasn't foot perfect but class got him through on hurdles debut at Ascot. Disappointing when pulled up in the Challow at Newbury last time but can get back on track now returned to calmer waters. Tongue tied (also had breathing op).

Stormy Entry 18.00 Dundalk 1 Pt Win @ 2\1 (bog)

Promising sort. 13/8, won 5-runner minor event at this course (7f) 23 days ago, driven out. Open to progress and can go well again.

Barrier Peaks 16.30 Uttoxeter 1 Pt Win @ 11\10 (bog)

Has already completed a hat-trick in 2023, scoring over C&D for his second win before improving again to land 8-runner handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (20.6f, good) 4 days ago. Highly progressive sort who still looks some way ahead of the handicapper and he sets a high standard.

Franciscan Rock 14.15 Naas 1 Pt Win @ 7\4 (bog)

airly useful hurdler. 18/1, ran up to best when second of 18 in maiden hurdle at this C&D (soft) 13 days ago, clear of rest. Can go one better.

Course winner. Three wins from 9 runs last year. Latest win here in January. Creditable second of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 5/2) 5 days ago. Thriving so has to go on the shortlist back at 5f.

Inowhaturthinkin 14.10 Navan 1 Pt Win @ 11\4 (bog)

Promising sort. Won over 2m on first 2 starts and shaped better than result when 9½ lengths fourth of 8 to Champ Kiely in Naas Grade 1 (20f, heavy) 35 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Capable of better again back down at 2m.

Lone Star 15.20 Newcastle 1 Pt Win @ 6\4 (bog)

Off the mark over 2½m here on Boxing Day and continued good work since, runner-up to a next-time-out winner at Market Rasen (20.6f) prior to scoring with ease at Ayr (20.5f) on Tuesday. Goes unpenalized here and leading claims again.

Fiery Brown 14.50 Clonmel 1 Pt Win @ 3\1 (bog)

Lightly-raced maiden. 13/2, good second of 10 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (16f, soft) 16 days ago, staying on without making any impression on winner. Clear of remainder then and she's a big player here.

Betty Baloo 16.15 Catterick 1 Pt Win @ 5\4 (bog)

Dual bumper/hurdles scorer who made it third time lucky over fences when accounting for next-time-out winner Credo in a mares' C&D handicap earlier this month. Nudged up just 2 lb, this reliable 7-y-o looks the one to beat.
