Trotter
Nothing wrong with Sunday racing this week A cracking card in Ireland with 3 grade 1 races and another Carlisle Sunday which might not be top class but I always enjoy watching racing from the Cumbrian track........there's just something about that stiff uphill finish which makes nearly every race exciting because the positions can change so drastically as the runners tire up the hill. It's the jumps equivalent of Pontefract. I haven't looked at the races yet so no tips........
Jimmy2shoes
Trainer Dianne Sayer sends out just the one runner with jockey Brian Hughes up top, BH knows Carlisle like the back of his hand and this Combo took home a bronze pot the last time they hooked up, the 5yr old was returning from a break so that fine effort cant be criticized, today's going is right up his street as his only victory was on heavy ground at Hexham when he ran out a game winner. With those conditions in his favor and the competition not looking that strong he looks worth a Sunday Punt. 13:20 Carlisle - Octagon. 4/1 Hills, he'll bounce off shorter! Jimmy2shoes
Mr Saturday drew a blank at Newbury so will be chasing compensation and holds a firm claim in Race 2 Sadly he wont get things his own way as trainer Evan Williams also fancies his chances with a nice 5yr old gelding ''by Scorpion'' - interesting too that the PN horse was gubbed last time out when he showed up on Evan's home turf, the Evan William's horse could be anything but he'd not be bringing him all this way if he wasn't match fit, jockey Paul Moloney could have a nice day and he gets the leg up, E.W only sends up the two runners and it would be NO Surprise if he returned back to base with 2 runs - 2 wins. 12:50 Carlisle - De Bene Esse. 9/4 Most firms
Trotter
Carl 12.50 - Takingrisks - ew at 16/1 bog bet365 Novice hurdle My selection is a point winner who ran OK in decent looking novice hurdle on debut under rules. Finished 5th looking as though he would come on for the run and should be suited by a stiffer test which he'll get today. The winner won again next time and the 2nd was about to win when he stumbled and unseated on the run in With todays favourite having jumped poorly last time and the 2nd favourite coming back from a summer break and making is hurdles debut there could be a chance for some of the outsiders here
Trotter
Fairyhouse 1-10 - Bachasson - win at 7/2 bog PP First of the grade 1 races this afternoon - a novice hurdle over around 20F Mullins has the first 2 in the betting with Rubi's choice the short price favourite However I like the second string at the odds How many times does the Mullins 2nd string beat the hotpot ?........it seems to happen fairly regularly ! It happened in this very race last year.......Ruby ridden favourite Puled Up, Townend ridden 2nd Fav wins the race On today my horse looks a two miler whereas the favourite looks a stayer and is dropping in trip......and his jumping is still a bit sloppy. Maybe running at 2 mile pace will put his jumping under stress ?
Trotter
Fairyhouse 1.40 - Arctic Fire - win at 4/5 bog bet365 2nd of todays grade 1 races - a 20F hurdle Impossible to oppose the favourite here - he has a stone and more in hand of all his rivals on the figures, gets the trip, acts on the ground and won first time out this season when looking like he needed a run If you are a worrier then the thing you would worry about is the fact that he's a serial placer but doesn't win that often, is he a fighter in a finish ? But look at the horses that have won his races in the last year......Irving, Hurricane Fly, Jezki, Faugheen. Obviously he's just below top class but should be good enough today and hopefully the narrow odds-on will look like a steal
robertob
Royal Bond Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) Willie Mullins holds the keys in his hands to the outcome of this race. Exciting Long Dog might be hard to beat but stable mate Bachasson can't be underestimated. The French import is unbeaten in four starts in Ireland and landed a good Grade 3 Hurdle in excellent style when last seen. He's also receiving some weight from Long Dog. Bachasson @ 7/2 Paddy Power - 5pts Win ----------- Hatton's Grace Hurdle (Grade 1) If Arctic Fire runs to his best he'll be probably running away with this. However he's fallen short to prevail on the highest level up until now and is one I'm prepared to take on. Receiving 4lb from all his rivals, French gelding Gwencily Berbas is an interesting alternative. He probably would like it a bit softer but has won on yielding ground here at Fairyhouse over 2m on Grade 3 level earlier this month. Still lightly raced, he is unexposed over the 2 1/2m trip, which on pedigree should very much suit. Gwencily Berbas @ 10/1 Paddy Power - 5pts Win
