Re: FA Cup > November 7th - 9th A bit obvious but the gap is just too big and the stronger teams are all at home which you would think means less chance of an upset. Bury 2/7 Mansfield 1/3 Plymouth 2/5 Treble with hills. Just cant see these 3 not winning. Sent from my SM-G900F using PL Forum

Re: FA Cup > November 7th - 9th Friday TV preview: 4pts Exeter (-1.25AH) to beat Warrington 1.85 Unibet You often find that the big cup upsets and shocks come when sides low on confidence go into these banana skins and don’t have the right frame of mind to come through them. I don’t see that being the case with Exeter. They are in fine form and really took the game to Luton on Saturday in a way not many have done this season. A repeat of that performance should see them safely through here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/warrington-vs-exeter-betting-exeter-can-avoid-an-upset-in-the-first-round

Re: FA Cup > November 7th - 9th Warrington Town v Exeter Warrington is more known for Rugby League, but Friday night will see their football team get their moment in the spotlight as this game is on BBC2. The home side play in the Evo-Stik NPL Division One North with is the 8th tier of English football. They had done amazingly well to get this far, especially as they have beaten two Conference North sides, but they don’t have a chance against League 2 Exeter. Exeter have only lost once in their last ten league games and should prove too strong. It is worth pointing out as well that this is a big game for Exeter given it is on BBC2 and I would have thought their players will want to perform well given the big audience as well. William Hill go a shade of odds against on the -1 handicap and that looks a solid bet and I think backing them at 11/4 with the same firm on the -2 handicap has a realistic chance as well. Eastleigh v Lincoln Two Conference sides play each other here and although Eastleigh are a shade of odds on I still think they are worth backing. I have pointed out quite a few times about Eastleigh’s home form and it is worth repeating that they are unbeaten in ten home league games, winning seven of them. Lincoln sacked their manager in the week and then lost at home to Altincham on Tuesday night. That came on the back of blowing a three goal lead at Forest Green last Saturday. I think Lincoln are opposable whilst they look for a new manager, especially against a team as strong at home as Eastleigh and Paddy power’s 19/20 is worth taking. Weston-Super-Mare v Doncaster Rovers Hopefully I have got Weston right as I can seem them really struggling against Doncaster. I wish my team Gloucester had the sort of passage Weston have had to get to the First Round, because it couldn’t really have been any easier. First off they beat Banbury who are an awful side from the league below. Then they played lowly Flackwell Heath which was as good as a bye. Finally in the last round they played Witham Town who are struggling in the Ryman Premier and even then they nearly didn’t win. They are in the relegation zone in the Conference South and I just can’t see how this will be anything other than an easy Doncaster win. Doncaster are doing OK this season in League 1 and I don’t think they have too much to worry about here. Like the Friday night game I think it is worth backing them on the -1 (21/20 Sportingbet) and -2 (14/5 Sportingbet) handicaps.

Agree. I was at that Exeter v Luton game last week and Exeter certainly matched Luton for long periods. Luton were second best for the entire second half in my opinion. Exeter have also had some impressive results against decent League Two sides recently, having beaten Bury, Wycombe & Morecambe in recent weeks. Having said that, I went into a BetFred betting shop today and took advantage of a 'Fred's Lunchtime Bonus Bet'. He was offering Even money on Warrington scoring tonight (increased from 8/13). That was too good to resist. I fully expect Exeter to win but can definitely see Warrington getting a goal or two.

I would be amazed if Warrington scored tonight. Think even money is rotten value let alone 8/13.

Re: FA Cup > November 7th - 9th

FA Cup. On TV. Bobbly pitch. Even money was too big to ignore.
Still think it was a terrible value bet even if it was a winning one. I struggle to believe step 8 teams score enough against league teams to make that profitable over time. Exeter should have defended it better but fair play to Warrington as they got that bit of luck you need as a non league team. Must be the biggest shock in the competition for a while. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a change of fortune. Sent from my GT-I8190N using PL Forum

Re: FA Cup > November 7th - 9th On another night Exeter would have scored at least four goals but it was just one of those nights where the gods were shining on Warrington and fair play to them they earnt their luck by putting their bodies on the line time and time again the fa cup again showed why it's the best competition going tonight

Exactly, not sure how Exeter didn’t score but I think going one up gave something for Warrington to work for. It was an absorbing game of football and was a great advert for non league football. Sent from my GT-I8190N using PL Forum

Re: FA Cup > November 7th - 9th 3pts Halifax vs Bradford - Draw 13/5 Boylesports Halifax seem realistic about their chances in this tie and that might serve them well. I always think Bradford are a better side when James Hanson features so it is a blow that he misses out here but even still the League One side have some quality in their ranks. Halifax will give this one a good go and I wouldn’t be completely surprised if they win this but this game could come at a good time for Bradford who can forget their league worries for a couple of weeks. Phil Parkinson might not admit it publicly but I’m sure he’d take a draw here and look to win the replay at home. That wouldn’t be a bad result for the home side either so the draw could be the value in this one. Re: FA Cup > November 7th - 9th A couple of handicaps for me donny minus1 at Weston as per addpea Bury minus 2 v Hemel at 8-5, just think the gulf in quality will tell I am also looking at Morecambe at Dover, Morecambe seem a big price against an average conference club? Gonna look into team news for this one Scunthorpe are two leagues above forest

Exeter didn't score because they're a mug side from League Two. Warrington was the play here' date=' well done to anyone that opposed Exeter. They looked a shocking side.[/quote'] Easy to say that after the event isn't it? I'd look a genius if I only posted things after the game Sent from my GT-I8190N using PL Forum

Re: FA Cup > November 7th - 9th FA Cup Portsmouth v Aldershot Sunday 9th Nov 14.00 This is almost a derby, the two club are well connected by road and rail, less than 1 hour's distance. Portsmouth are very well supported, but Aldershot will also have around 2,500 fans there according to their local news site. Aldershot from the Conference are one level below Portsmouth, and bearing in mind the derby nature of the game, I think odds of over 6.0 look a bit high. According to Portsmouth's website, Aldershot have won 2 and drawn 1 of their 6 games at Portsmouth over the years (although none of these were recent games). Aldershot AH0 4.35 Marathon Stake: 4 points

Still think it was a terrible value bet even if it was a winning one. I struggle to believe step 8 teams score enough against league teams to make that profitable over time.....
It was a step 8 team against an average looking step 4 team though......not a massive leap of faith to believe they'd be 'up for it' in front of a big crowd and a nationwide television audience in the FA Cup. I'll agree to disagree though but I'd take even money all day long in such fixture. Good luck.

Just think that shows how little you know about step 8 football. Exeter had only lost once in ten league games so hardly an average league 2 side. Trust me there is a massive gulf in class between the two clubs and it was a freak result. Sent from my GT-I8190N using PL Forum

Re: FA Cup > November 7th - 9th

FA Cup Portsmouth v Aldershot Sunday 9th Nov 14.00 This is almost a derby, the two club are well connected by road and rail, less than 1 hour's distance.
Good luck but the proximity of the two locations doesn't make it a derby. Historically we've had no strong rivalry with Aldershot unless someone much much older than me says differently :unsure

Re: FA Cup > November 7th - 9th

Exeter didn't score because they're a mug side from League Two. Warrington was the play here' date=' well done to anyone that opposed Exeter. They looked a shocking side.[/quote'] Silly post Alex... Easy say that after the game!!!!!!!

Re: FA Cup > November 7th - 9th I watched the Warrington game, Exeter looked terrified at the start and conceded an own goal from a corner early. From minute 30 and on it was all Exeter though and I've never seen a team dominate a game that much without scoring a goal. Credit to Warrington though, they blocked shots and fought to the end. The Jesus look-alike should have been sent off though. Shocking refereeing. Reminds me of Callum Mcmanamans horrortackle on Yanga-Mbiwa that the referee didn't even see a couple of years ago..
