Re: Ligue 1 Orange > Saturday August 9th It's a bit early but I just have to take these odds before they crash any further. OL Lyon hosting Stade Rennes in stade de Gerland. Home side in terrific form lately, winning game after game only a goalless draw against Sevilla but that's no shame at all. 0-2 against Kopenhagen followed by a 4-1 rape against Shaktar donetsk and a 1-4 away win in the Europa league. First round is always hard to pick winners outright but I just have the feeling Lyon will come out strong in this game. They will surely rest most of their regulars, if not all on thursday when they play their second tie against Mlada so fatigue shouldn't be a problem at all. Lyon has always been a great home side with a fanatic crowd, stadium will be packed for sure for this opening game. Lyon kept all of their key players from last year, only striker Gomis left the club but with Yattara as new signing and topscorer Lacazette from last season he will be forgotten soon. Yattara already scored some goals lately including 2 european goals against Mlada. Striker from Angers last year where he proofed he has an nose for goals. Defender B.Kone is suspended for this game so Bedimo will likely come in for him. They have some small doubts in the likes of Gourcouff, Grenier, Dabo and Fofana. They all trained seperately last week and missed the game against Mlada. More team news will come out in the next few days, I'll update it as soon as possible. Probable starting eleven for Lyon will look like this : A.Lopes, C.Jallet, M.Bisevac, H.Bedimo, S.Umtiti, S.Malbranque/Grenier, A.Mvuemba/Fofana, M.Gonalons, J.Ferri, A.Lacazette, M.Yatarra. Quite strong imo. I expect Lyon to deliver a solid performance at the start of the season. Stade Rennes are having a rough start this summer. They've lost several key players in the likes of Alessandrini, Bokayoko, Kadir and Nelson Oliveira [He was less important but still 8 goals]. They've kept their back line intact so that's a good thing and Toivonen, Ntep and Hosiner [new signing from Austria Wien] should deliver them goals. But in midfield they've lost almost all of their creativity, without Alessandrini and Kadir they lacked vision, passing skills and Bokayoko behind them was a rock. Rennes did sign some new guys in the likes of P.Henrique from Zurich, he is a creative player so time will tell us how good he really is. Regular midfielder G.Fernandes from Freiburg, Prcic from Sochaux, regular midfielder B.Andre from Ajaccio and C.Bruls from OL Nice. Hard to tell if Rennes got stronger or weaker but I think these new guys surely need some time to adapt to their new teammates and in particular French football. They've played a few friendlies but they were not really convincing to be honest. A 2-1 win over Orleans who recently promoted to LG2, 1-1 draw against LG2 team Angers, 3-3 draw against Heidenheim a 3th division team from Germany and a 2-1 loss against the only notable opponent so far in the likes of FC Augsburg. No more games are scheduled for Rennes so there will be a gap of 2 weeks between their last friendly and the game against Lyon on Sunday. While in the meantime Lyon keeps raising their game. V.Pajot and Prcic are suspended for this game while Bruls is still injured but more team news to come, bit too early now for the exact squads. H2H shows that Lyon is a hard team to beat at home for Rennes but this fixture is quite draw heavy, 9 so far when Lyon was host, 8 wins and only 3 losses. But if we look at current form and pre-season games I just have to give Lyon the edge and hopefully they will give PSG and Monaco a hard time this season. Rennes will probably sit back, keep things tight and try to hurt Lyon on the counter but if Lyon finds a way to score an early goal things will become very hard for Rennes and there will be no way back. They have to push forward which suits Lyon perfectly with such pace upfront and midfielders with great passing skills. Something tells me there will be goals in this fixture with Lyon as winners, something like 2-1 but on the other hand a solid 1-0 or 2-0 also wouldn't surprise me. So I just stick to my main bet and that's the home win. Last year this fixture ended 0-0 but with Lyon keeping all of their key players and at full strength, they should be able to beat Rennes who probably need more time to adapt. Lyon to win their first game of the season 5/10 stakes odds of 1.85. Ps. Updates will follow!

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > Saturday August 9th Anyone have any feelings for the Reims v PSG game tonight ? I am running prediction software that predicts under 2.5 goals in this game. Obviously a little tricky, considering all info is based on how these teams finished off last season. PSG cruised to the league, so their last few away games could be misleading. They only managed to score more than 1 goal in 1 of their last 5 away league games. Reims under 2.5 in 4 of their last 6 at home, managing 2 goals in a game just once in 6 games... Other factors to consider here, is that Cavani, Cabaye and Matuidi will all not start for PSG .

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > Saturday August 9th Reims – PSG The hosts have CB Anthony ruled out through injury, along with a couple of other fellow backliners Conte and Turan. In the final third of the field, new signing Benjamin Moukandjo is suspended, whilst Nicolas Preville is another injury. PSG are without a few big names, including new big summer signing David Luiz. The likes of Matuidi, Maxwell, Cabaye and Lavezzi aren’t available either. So Les Parisiens aren’t at full strength but they should still probably have too much for Reims. I don’t like the look of the Champagne outfit much this season and think they could struggle. PSG are -1.5 favourites tonight and for a first match of the season, that’s a massive handicap to cover. In recent years they have often started the campaign in a slow way, so it wouldn’t be a complete shock if Reims got something here. There’s enough doubt anyway so there;s no point in risking anything on the visitors IMO. It’s unlikely they’ll be as sharp compared to what they’ll be like in a couple of months time. I still think this’ll end up as an away win, but maybe by something like a one goal margin. Prediction: Reims 1-2 PSG NO BET

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > Saturday August 9th Marseille in Bastia seems value at 2.11. Bielsa plays a very attractive football, in the friendlies they tore apart some defences. Who knows something about Claude Makélélé as a coach? I'd be tempted to bet over and Marseille on this one (2 separate bets). Any opinions?

Lyon won comfortable by 2-0! They controlled the game from start till finish and defensively they were solid again. Cheers guys, cu next weekend!
