senk
Re: Scottish Football > March 29th & 30th Motherwell looks the bet of the round for me in the premier league. They are on a decent run lately and always score goals especially at home. Winning 6 of their last 7 at home all with 2 or more goals scored. They should be way too strong for Kilmarnock who are bad on their travels. But my question is.. Does it matter which rank they end 1-6 for the play offs or 7-12 for Kilmarnock. I'm not familiar with this in scotland. Thx in advance! Impossible for the away side to achieve promotion so their season is over..

senk
Re: Scottish Football > March 29th & 30th Haha ofcourse I know that. But if you look at soccerway you see the difference between rank 1/6 and 7/12. It says play offs.. How does it work? Or does only rank 1 count and can't they relegate? They get split into Championship and Relegation rounds. Something similar to many other European leagues :ok
senk
Re: Scottish Football > March 29th & 30th Ok, but do these last rounds care at all then? Because the can't reach rank 6 anymore and celtic is already won the league. Does rank 6 face rank 2 and so on or is this a group stage? Jase82
Re: Scottish Football > March 29th & 30th There's also the prize money to fight for as each placing will be awarded different amounts I guess but its highly dubious as to whether that would motivate the players. Fulton
Re: Scottish Football > March 29th & 30th Looking at the Edinburgh derby tomorrow, I think that Hearts are madly overpriced at 23/10. Hearts need a win or a draw to avoid relegation - and while relegation is inevitable for the club in the next couple of matches at most, the team will be determined not to let it happen at Tynecastle against their rivals. Although Hearts haven't won since the end of January, they have been displaying much better performances recently - losing out by only one goal to Dundee United last week and having several chances to level as well. Jason Holt has returned from injury and this has boosted the squad, and even when they are struggling they have a great track record against Hibs, having only lost to the club once at Tynecastle in the memorable past. While Hearts have been struggling in the league, so too have Hibs massively. The club haven't won in six matches and have looked dull, unproductive and completely lacking in creativity in their past few matches. Their last tie with St Johnstone was a massive game - their last chance to get into the top six before the split - but they still didn't look able to muster a worthy performance. On the back of all this, I think this could well be a low scoring draw or a narrow Hearts win. 23/10 is a great price for the Hearts win, or the double chance at 4/5 also looks good value. On an unrelated note, only two of the past seven ties between these sides have gone over 2.5 goals. It's a traditionally low scoring game, so odds of 3/4 for unders also could be a shout. Keyser Soze 1992
Re: Scottish Football > March 29th & 30th Hearts v Hibs This is set to be a tense affair with Hearts needing to avoid defeat to prevent rivals Hibs from relegating them at their own stadium. Hearts are going down, everyone has known for a while, but they will desperately want to avoid the embarassment of letting Hibs sent them packing. Hibs are dreadful at the minute, one win in 12 or 13 league matches or something, playing with no fight and creating virtually no chances in recent matches. A defeat here could see Hibs sucked into the play-off battle with all teams below picking up points today. One thing is guaranteed Hearts are always pumped up for derby matches and despite being pretty awful this season have managed to beat Hibs twice. If Hibs actually turn up and show the commitment and desire that has been missing then they should win, but this is no guarantee at all as wins at Tynecastle have been few and far between for them in recent years. The derbies of recent years have been consistently poor matches with very few goals scored and often one goal deciding the match. The last game at Easter Road finished 2-1, but looking at the record 20 of the last 23 have been under 2.5 goals. I fully expect this to happen again tomorrow with the match most likely ending 0-0, 1-0, 0-1 or 1-1. Both sides struggling to score and neither side wants to lose this match. Under 2.5 goals 8/11 with Paddy Power
luckotheoirish
Re: Scottish Football > March 29th & 30th Just on the stats,it's actually 17 of the last 23 that have been under 2.5 goals if you don't count the cup and that was 1-5 to Hearts in 2012.I'm looking at the goals scored by both teams.Hearts have scored 9 at home in 14 games and Hibs have scored 11 away in 15 games.I think this is more significant... Hearts' problems have been well documented all season and they are generally rolling over for most sides but because they have such a weak squad what we're seeing stats wise is quite often their opponents will allow a goal. This is a derby so I'd expect the Hearts youngsters to be fired up more than they normally are.
