Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation I wouldn't touch Barnsley purely on the basis that they ALWAYS survive. Millwall look a good shout after losing Kenny Jackett to us and possibly a few players on the way as well with not much budget to replace them.

I was thinking Millwall about a month ago with Jackett gone and a depleted squad. However, I believe that Lomas is going to be a pretty decent manager for them, good appointment imo. Naturally they're gonna have to improve on what they've got squad wise but they've already bought in Steve Morrison from Leeds which is a fantastic signing imo. I feel they'll bring in 2 or 3 more and ultimately will survive another year in the champ. Even though Millwall's fortunes look to have improved, their price for relegation is still shortening, it's a price which holds no real value imo, I feel the market is getting it wrong here. Likes all teams will see how things develop over this month.

Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation Das Phantom I have to agree with you on your thoughts on Millwall, I was thinking of them in the handicap betting once it comes out and with there odds shortening for relegation may get a nice 35points on the handicap.

Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation I agree that Milwall don't scream value for relegation. It's very early still yet but Morison is a very good signing and if they get a few more decent additions they should be ok. Birmingham and Blackpool are two who could really struggle as they seem unwilling to spend any money and they are losing their best players. I will be leaving it a few weeks yet untill I come to any firm conclusions though.

Hi mate, it's not really the place to ask here on the specific thread :OK it may get a better response if asked elsewhere. This thread is mainly for discussing Championship relegation. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using PL Forum

Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation QPR to get relegated or promoted? you must be out of your mind to think they will be relegated. They are the fav to win the championship imo. They still have a decent squad still fresh with PL experience. They have much more money more than most championship sides, not to even talk about them parachute payment. I don't think QPR to be related is a good punt, but good luck to you though.

Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation QPR promoted or win the league? Tbh I don't think they will do either. I see a frustrating season ahead with many fall outs, people coming and going and general disruption left right and centre. I see them just missing out on play-offs. £100 (for me) is a lot of money to place on a bet like that. I am not entirely confident about any of your selections apart from Hull to be relegated. It's quite easy to see Wolves or Portsmouth coming 2nd as opposed to 1st. Best of luck though.

Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation I fancy Blackpool to succumb this season. Ince will be sold, his arl feller will spit his dummy out, and the owners will replace him with someone cheaper. They have done well to stay up when you look at their outlay. In my opinion.

Any birmingham fans on here? Everything you hear suggests the club is in absolute turmoil at a boardroom level and that clark has worked miracles that are potentially unsustainable. We all know nobody is too big to go diwn and they are a nice price. Just looming for some thoughts from somebody who may know more than i do Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2

Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation Birmingham City to be relegated @ 10/1 (Betfair) 0.25 Units While there are several clubs in the relegation mix for the championship this year, I feel the Birmingham relegation price is simply too big to be ignored here. The summer exodus has been extensive with Butland, Davies, Caldwell, Ibanez, Caddis, Carr, Gomis, Fahey and Redmond all leaving the club. Clearly their defence, which was a strong point, has taken a massive hit. Youth and loanees will be bought in to plug the gaps but Clark has already stated that 1 or 2 more players may leave before the window has closed. Finances are so tight at the club that Clark has not even been able to bring in trialists that have impressed over the summer. Clark is a fighter and the sort of character that you need at a club in this kind of predicament but there are just so many factors working against him right now. I don't think he will get much help from the fans as the atmosphere at St Andrews can be pretty woeful at times. Definately not the kind of environment needed when you are battling with backs to the wall. Too many of Birmingham's lower table competitors are priced shorter in the relegation market, whilst most do not have the problems Clark is currently facing. Birmingham to be relegated in 2013-2014 is indeed a long shot but 10/1 is simply too big for me so I will take a small punt here.

Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation We (Birmingham ) are in a big hole at the moment. We have no money for transfers or wages apart from Zigics 65k a week. Until the carson trial fiasco is over the club will remain in limbo. The current squad is made up of youth players and a couple of loanees. The squad is also very small. If we get a couple of serious injuries then I would say that we really are in the mire. The fans haven't taken to Clark and add to this that season ticket sales are at an all time low. It doesn't make pleasant reading for us Blues fans. If we get relegated or not is another thing, we will finish nearer the bottom than the top and 11's is great value. So I wouldn't put you off backing us to go down. Also, Watford on Saturday at 7/4 are great value they thumped us twice last year including a 4 - 0 home drubbing.

Pretty much agree with everything you say right now mate :lol Its either Birmingham, Blackburn, Boro, or Sheffield Wednesday for me to struggle (out of the bigger sides). As a side note, Blackpool seem to have been priced up as fourth favourites in this market. I know there are issues over the playing budget, manager, and Tom Ince,'s future etc, but I wouldn't have them as favorites for relegation. Barnsley as well seem to have a decent squad.

There has indeed been a mass exodus over the summer but I expect they'll have a competetive squad by the end of August. They better hope so anyway!

Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation a couple in here for me.... my heart says it cannot happen but it did to Wolves last year and Blackburn were close also, so my beloved QPR have to be a small interest at such a big price as it could still go wrong for the team that has high wages and players still unable to play as the manager tries to move them on. I expect if we get a bad start, arry will walk so 40/1 Betvictor may be worth just a small bet. Bournemouth @ 12/1 Betvictor also stands out for me. Yes they did well last season but i think they will get found out in this league. Manager is decent and deserves a better club however he returned to Bournemouth so have to respect that.

Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation Blackburn to be relegated from the Championship @ 15 - bet365. I feel that a big priced side could go down this year, as happened last season with Wolves. No disrespect to Gary Bowyer but he's got a huge job on his hands if he's to keep his job for longer than 3 months tbh. I don't think the Venky's will accept a poor start, and Blackburn have a huge squad. They still have a Premier League sized squad with more than a few big name players on decent wages, and they're not favourites to go up. So they're another huge club, with huge expectations, that at the minute don't look like making the grade. I can't see Gary Bowyer, in his first managerial position, lasting until Christmas if I'm honest. Something just doesn't feel right with Blackburn and I think they're in for a tough season until they can get some consistency. A squad overhaul is badly needed. I also feel sides such as Doncaster, Barnsley and Millwall may fare better than current prices suggest, so there are a few openings there. Other contenders seem to be Wednsday and Charlton. Yeovil look doomed to me :lol Sorry, no disrespect to any Yeovil fans out there, but I think they're punching far above their weight presently and the Championship will be too tough a challenge when it comes down to it.

Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation 2pts Burnley to be relegated 4/1 Stan James Burnley looked very reliant on the goals of Charlie Austin this season and that was the only thing I saw keeping them out of trouble. He’s gone to QPR now though so I think Burnley are in danger, especially if they can’t find a replacement, and replacing his goals won’t be easy for whoever comes in. Sean Dyche isn’t the worst manager in the world but he isn’t the best either and when things are going against him his sides can go on awful runs which is a concern. They might just be a bit of value at 4/1 to go down. 1pt Middlesbrough to be relegated 10/1 Coral Middlesbrough’s end of season form was relegation stuff. Not for the first time they started the season brilliantly but then went with the Xmas wrapping paper come the New Year. At some point they are going to stutter at the start and if they do that this year then they could be looking over their shoulders come May. Although they have a fairly decent squad plenty of others look to have improved beyond them so if they start poorly 10/1 on Boro to be relegated could become a shrewd investment as the season goes on. Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation To Be Relegated: Birmingham @ 10.00 Skybet (1 Point) This price just looks too big considering the position brum are in. They've lost some of their better players and have been replacing them with loans and lower league signings. Clarke may have pulled a few rabbits out of a hat but that remains to be seen. I don't particularly rate him as a manager and potentially Brum could be in real danger this season. I'm not massively saying that they are going to go down. But I think some of the clubs below them in the betting are being under estimated and the likes of Barnsley, Huddersfield and Milwall all look better prospects to me. In view of this, Birmingham look a good speculative value bet.

Re: Championship 2013/14 > Relegation Birmingham at 10's is a good price maybe for a trade? I know I'm speaking as a fan but after watching the first couple of performances, I feel they may just about have enough to stay up and where Clark may shine is that this is his side. Maybe we'll see how good(?) he is as a manager. Remember, Blues didn't get a win for 4 matches last season..
