reb33
Re: Vegas virgin Congrats mate - if you are concerned about spending, the best idea is to plan your trip around flight costs as that can have a significant difference depending on the day of the week you want to fly - I would start on skyscanner.com and work out which actual dates and airport it's best to fly from. reb33
Re: Vegas virgin Visa is called an ESTA and it's $14 on their official site - beware of scams that say they are providing a service but cost a lot more.

glceud
Re: Vegas virgin Whatever you do, don't try and cut corners with the cost of the flight. Travel as close, and as direct as possible.
Haichan
Re: Vegas virgin great result staffy. You can do the visa waiver online via the Us website https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/. If you make any money don't forget they deduct federal tax. You can get the casino to apply for refund of the tax through the uk/usa tax treaty. its simple to do and as a uk citizen your winnings are tax free. you can save about £100 flying via europe with someone like Lufthansa. But it will involve a change and add about 3/4 hours to your journey. Best flights are probably virgin direct

andybell666
Re: Vegas virgin flights are the first thing to sort...and the biggest one off cost. Have they pre-booked you into the palazzo or can you get out of it? or negotiate rates with palazzo? I will be there if you arrive on 22nd as I am going home 24th so if you need a friendly face for a beer, orientation, etc...let me know... morlspin
Re: Vegas virgin 1 - Get your ESTA before you do anything, 99% go through fine but they do flag 1% now for additional checks. 2 - Book Virgin direct flights if its your 1st time and are playing a WSOP event, the extra 3-4 hours with indirect flights may not seem a lot of time to wait, but its a massive hassle and can ruin your trip if you miss connections or have delays etc. For the difference in price (in most cases) its not worth it. 3 - When you arrive, go to the Rio as soon as you can and double check you are registered for the event. If you turn up on the day and its not done, you're gonna have a struggle to get sorted. 4 - Food and drink, millions of restaurants and fast food joints, you'll only be 100 yards from somewhere to eat so dont worry about that, see what you fancy when your there. The Grand Luxe Cafe in Palazzo and Venetian are great and dont cost much for a great meal. 5 - If you want alcohol, don't use the hotel bars, sit at a slot machine or gaming table and within 10 mins you'll have a drink in your hand for just $1. 6 - Use hotel shuttles, the bus and the monorail as much as you can, taxi's are now more expensive than ever and can really mount up over the week. Traffic is bad in the summer so public transport and shuttles are much better. 7 - If a pretty girl comes up to you and offers a drink or wants to chat you up, its not cos your a good looking bloke, its cos their hookers ;) Loads more to tell you but best advice is to simply enjoy yourself and take it as it comes. Oh and congrats!

I wouldn't be surprised if you get vouchers for breakfast in the Grand Luxe Cafe - when I got to my room, there was a pile on the side - one for every day. Covers a full english/cold breakfast and a drink, if you get there just before end of breakfast it should keep you going till the evening :ok

I have already got leave booked for a family holiday. So to be honest its one of them things. There will be other times. The money I am getting will come in handy also.
