Re: GUKPT Blackpool Main Event 9th November

Bagged up 20700' date=' couldn't find John so not sure how he did,, with an hour to go he was on24k I think.[/quote'] Out in 73rd, 15 minutes before the end :cry I went back after the last break with 23k, (hit a peak of around 30k or so around the end of level 7 but then took a couple of hits to drop back down by end of level 8). We lost a lot of players at the table I was on throughout, and there was only myself and 1 other guy from the original line up so it was quite a lively table! Level 9 the last hour was 400-800 (100 ante) and after we went back there were quite a few shoves at my table resulting in only 6 players left at one point! Obviously with this, the blinds were coming round much quicker, before the tables finally got rebalanced, and after 45 mins gone and 15 mins on the clock I was down to around 17k. 2 Big stacks (one had about 90k or so) were dominating the table and all i'd had was junk. Prior to the last level I'd pretty much decided I wouldn't be going back for day 2 as a short stack and I'd take the chance to double up if it came along. This was where I lost the plot big time! In the BB I picked up KQs, and for the 1st time none of the big stacks raised me and it folded all the way round to the guy in SB. I had no information on this guy, as he'd only been moved from another table about 6 hands before. So when he 'fannied around with his chips' and then put in a min raise, I decided he was 'at it' and reraised him to 5,200 about 1/3rd of my stack. With that he moved all in. I looked up at the tourny board and it said average chip stack was 46k and I had 12k left behind, so it was either gamble now or come back mega short stacked! Anyway I made the call for the 35k pot, on their backs (im hoping for JJ or less) but he tables Ako (oh bugger!). Flop comes Q34 rainbow....come on!!.... turn 7, river A :puke In hindsight I Played it all wrong, as if I had flat called the original raise, the flop would have come Q high, and then he's likely folding to an all in push with his AK. Other than this rather costly mistake, I felt I played pretty well throughout and maximised the hands that did come along in the 9 hours (AAx1, KKx1, JJx1, 10-10x2, 99x2, AQx1, AJx2) the rest junk. Thanks again to PL and Gcasino for the seat it really is a great opportunity and sponsorship TY TY TY :notworthy I Really enjoyed the game and the experience, and was great to meet Ed :ok (sorry we had to buzz off early mate, we decided to drive back rather than stay overnight) Great to see you got the double up before the end Ed, best of luck with today and hopefully some better cards, Gl mate :ok

Re: GUKPT Blackpool Main Event 9th November Ul John but sounds like a great experience all the same. Personally speaking I like your raise. You had a read and acted on it, fair play, especially as it sounds like you had a solid/tight image at that point. Trouble with flatting is that you're also giving him the chance to hit, sometimes it pays to take the initiative. Wp mate, hopefully you'll have a better run in the next one ;) Gl Ed today :hope

Re: GUKPT Blackpool Main Event 9th November Gone in 40th, lucky to last that long. Think I need to work out how to play 14-18bb stacks, either that or change religion to one that ensures as least the odd pocket pair or ace paint. Was all in 3 times with ace junk and survived twice before the exit hand of a/6. Think my problem was I was prepared to wait too long.
