Re: Serie B > October 5-8 Preview taken from weekly newsletter. Overall stats so far 2012/13: 38 bets/ 24 won / 5void / 5 lost / ROI: 44,7%. More information on blog Match: Varese - Empoli Previous round Home: Last round analysis and game review: Team news: Home: No bigger issues for Bisoli Away: For Varese all three important players - Nadarevic, Ebagua (both only started in 2nd half against Verona) and top striker Pereira Neto is now back in the team – that means at least 50% stronger Varese up front. Analysis and prediction for forthcoming match: I see this one as a great bet for away team. I mean in all aspects of the game, teams showed thus far, Varese is far better team as Cesena who are struggling heavily to do anything, they might be a bit better in defence but attack in no existent. Against a team that wants to go into fight for promotion, and a team which now has again all key players back for attack - not forgetting very solid Kone in midfield I don’t see Cesena winning this one, maybe a draw but I have to see Varese as a favourite in this game. Words of Bisoli: "I'm training especially the defence since I arrived, we had just 10 goals in three games and I tried to work hard on defence. For now, I continue my work; I'm trying to fix the team in my image a piece at a time. " As already said, Bisoli still trying to improve defence, while up front Cesena are probably the worst team in league at the moment. Conclusion: 1 unit on Varese 0 @1.82 Home: Last round match review: Well I believe the analysis was on spot, the only difference was that Varese went for a point and Neto Pereira was not risked for this game. First half was to be honest boring. Neither created, Cesena did try a little more and show glimpses that they might be improving in offence but they stood well behind and tried to control the midfield. Nothing really worth mentioning in this half, only probably a goal which was a result of a deflected free kick which made goalie fumble the ball directly to the feet of free Comotto. After that in first half, limited action Varese did not create a lot as Cesena stood behind the ball. 2nd half saw much more active Varese which begun to attack “in waves” after some 55 minutes. They created one excellent opportunity which Cesena goalie stopped with reflex save. In that phase when Varese had the best momentum of the game, defender Rea got second yellow for second for identical stupidity (pushing in the penalty area, and that even 2nd time at attacking free kick for Varese). Even that did not kill game off, as Varese did create three solid chances but they failed to convert. But even that was not enough, as sub Martinetti ensured all three points were to stay in Cesena as he committed unnecessary foul in the middle of the pitch and got direct red card. Late on, Ascoli scored from a break – despite, you will not believe it, Varese still pushing on. Overall this game had a 0-0 draw written all over it, as both teams looked settled for a draw and neither took any risks. It might be that Cesena got slightly better in attack, as I did saw some glimpses of combinatory play, but overall, they are still bad. Varese came for a point, which they would have deserved if they had a bit more luck. It seems that Cesena games are made for unders as Bisoli is still emphasising all on defence, which is now far more stable as in the beginning of the season. BRESCIA (3-5-2): Arcari; De Maio, Salamon, Stovini; zambelli, Lasik, Budel, Scaglia, Daprelà; Corvia, Caracciolo. All. Calori. Home: Nothing special, goalie Arcari is back. Away: There are some romours that Sarri could change the tactics from 4-4-1-1 to 4-3-1-2, no bigger issues for Empoli aswell. Analysis and prediction for forthcoming match: I like Brescia 0 @ 1.85 here. All points to away win or a draw at most. Brescia are currently a better team, playing better, having better team, better coach and not last, excellent historical record. As only win in recent history for Empoli came long way back in 2002 game was played in Serie A then, apart from that 6 wins and 5 draws for Brescia. Conclusion: I will wait to see how teams play on pitch and hence live bet for me. --------- Away: Last round match review: I have written number of times that Empoli can’t attack. This time it was a bit different formation as Sarri changed from 4-4-1-1 to more attacking 4-4-2, and finally it showed some results. The best one was goal in the opening minutes from Maccarone, who scored a tap in after some good work down the left and a low cross that found a hole to get to eventual scorer. But guests quickly make things even again, it was a longe range effort from Lasik and a shot that Dossena should have done better with, he got a touch, but ball went into the back of the net. Brescia striker Caracciolo then had two really excellent chances to put Brescia in lead, first one was a through ball and a nice lob which went over the bar, next one followed few mins later as cross from the right wing found him alone on some 5 meters, but Dossena did excellent to keep the game tied. Empoli followed with shot from 16m, but Arcari made a good stop from Maccarone, from corner Empoli almost managed to score, but Arcari was focused and saved the ball. 2nd half begun with couple of half chances but nothing concrete, Livorno had one good shot from corner, but Dossena saved it. Then substitutions begun on both sides and that changed the game, three times Empoli was dangerous from left wing (once last second tackle, once blocked shot and once missed, once blocked cross from well inside the area). I also need to mention one really good shot from Ferreira which again Arcari saved superbly. Brescia was completely missing from the game in part two and Empoli with more attacking ability were in upper position to take all three points home. Draw probably just result, neither did enough or better said risk enough to deserve the win. I am a bit disappointed with Brescia as I did have them as favourites in this game, but defensive tactics turned this game around and the value on 0 was due to gameplay on Empoli. They are getting a bit better it seems, but still I would not count on them to begin winning games. They still lack creativity in the middle of the pitch and a team with good wingers or defensive midfielders could kill their attacks easily. Maccarone scored and was active, so he might be getting to his form. Brescia, to passive despite i counted on them to at least draw (ok, they did that), but they came for a point sadly, looking at quality of teams, they should have really have had different approach. • Suspensions for central defenders Rea and Carozzieri, both very important and regulars ++++/++++ and attacker Martinetti (he was one of better players in last round for Varese)
Away: Team news:
  • Croce looks to be on way back – predicted on bench.
  • Tavano was already on bench in last round, so he might get some minutes. He looks okay on training moving well.
  • Accardi already played last game,
  • Boniperti might be there next week.
  • Laurini should also be in a group of players that will travel to Varese
  • Surely out are Gigliotti, Mori and Coralli (long term injured)
  • Tonelli had to leave prematurely training for a problem, a question-remedied Saturday
  • Simone Pecorini finshed his suspension so he is back in the cadre

Predicted line-ups: - Analysis and prediction for forthcoming match: It is hard one to predict really, but I do like the handicap in this case. Empoli did show signs of improvement in last round after tactics was a bit tweaked. Odds are going on Varese, but i am really not that sure about this. The only player in central defence that is already proven on this level is Troest, so there might be problems for Varese backline, so i am thinking about Empoli +0.75, but I will not make it as official bet as both teams have own problems. Probally if Tavano might be in the team, bet on Empoli is worth a shot as he is main creator for them and surely the reason why 4-4-1-1 did not work so far. Also with return of many missing players Empolis problems are reduced now. Varese as said without two important defenders and Neto Pereira surely not 100% fit, so again Ebauga as main threat. I believe value is on the side of the visitors and the +0.75 handicap do offer some nice security. * All team news are not updated due to later sending of newsletter.

Re: Serie B > October 5-8 Brescia-V.Lanciano 1 5/10 1.75 Brescia has a good squad and practically at full power for this home game. They will dress a shirt with impressed on "3828" grazie (thanks) in order to give an ideal embrace to their fans. So this is a game to win for a not irresistible Virtus Lanciano that is missing only fw Fofana (6/1). But then Brescia will have 2 hard away games against Novara and Bari while instead Lanciano will have 2 affordable home games against Empoli and Pro Vercelli. So i see a more motivated home side (at home 2-1-0 4 gol against 1). Away lanciano is not so bad (1-1-1 2-2) but i see Rondinelle flying in this match

Re: Serie B > October 5-8 Livorno - Spezia Livorno in great form 5 win in 7 matches and now at second place in Serie B. Spezia have 2 lose and 1 draw at away game and today they have problem in squad. The match will miss basic players - two defenders (Madonna and Goian) and two miedfielders (Crisetig and Sammarco). Take Livorno to win @ 1.99 ( Pinbet )

Also another regular defender Schiavi is in doubt. Young centre back Pasini will play for the first time this season and it can be problem for them. On the other side, Livorno will be without regular midfielder Schiattarella, but good news is return of Belingheri in midfield. Livorno win looks nice at Coral @2.10

Re: Serie B > October 5-8 This was a case of the odds appearing to be too good to be true. A team placed 2nd in the league, on form and playing at home against an out of form team lower down in the division, priced at 2.10. Keeper proceeds to get himself sent off in the first 15 minutes giving away a penalty and effectively losing the game. Perhaps the bookies knew something we didn't - Italian football isn't exactly known for its honesty after all.

Re: Serie B > October 5-8

Jinkster' date=' you seem not to have played much of Serie B. Otherwise, you would have known that the teams are very equal in level and you would very rarely see in this league prices lower than 1.80.[/quote'] I wasn't aware of this, no. In fact it was the first time I have ever bet on a Serie B match. Thanks for the information and I will keep that in mind in future.
