Ayr ~Gold, Silver & bronze Cups (2012 Edition)

Re: Ayr ~Gold, Silver & bronze Cups (2012 Edition) That time of year again!!! Question is, will we have a Scottish-trained winner of the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup this year? - Last time a horse trained in Scotland won the race - Roman Warrior back in 1975. Winners since 1980

[TH=class: headerSort]Year[/TH] [TH=class: headerSort]Winner[/TH] [TH=class: headerSort]Age[/TH] [TH=class: headerSort]Weight[/TH] [TH=class: headerSort]Jockey[/TH] [TH=class: headerSort]Trainer[/TH] [TH=class: headerSort]SP[/TH] [TH=class: headerSort]Time[/TH]
Re: Ayr ~Gold, Silver & bronze Cups (2012 Edition) :welcome Onefortheroad. Enjoy the site & good luck with your punting:ok I really enjoy this Ayr meeting in particular these three races. My thoughts would be have a good look and Dandy Nicholls runners in all three races, he hasn't had a great year but his horse are now nicely handicapped, he does well at this meeting and he had a 16/1 winner today at Beverely with one of his older horses and his string look to be coming into a bit of form now and should have a good 3-day Ayr meet imo.

Re: Ayr ~Gold, Silver & bronze Cups (2012 Edition) I put up Xilerator in the ante-post thread a couple of months ago. I was told by someone who has a lot of horses with Dandy Nicholls that he was trying to win the Silver Cup this year with Xilerator. Not sure if he is even in the race but I would think he would be his main hope if he is in the race

Re: Ayr ~Gold, Silver & bronze Cups (2012 Edition) Xilerator is 44th in the weights for the main race so should get a run in the Silver Cup. Draw for the Gold Cup is on Racing UK at 11 am on Thursday so we will know all the decs for the three races then. Not sure whats gone at Nicholls yard, he seems to have lost a lot of horses this season, Koukash shifted all of his and Dab Hand Racing moved their horses to Milton Bradley??

Re: Ayr ~Gold, Silver & bronze Cups (2012 Edition) I'm meant to be at Ayr racing tomorrow but it's now nearly 7pm and it's still pouring it down from the heavens outside and has been since I got up this morning. Certainly isn't looking promising, if anything it'll be soft ground advantage tomorrow for those horses that favour the soft ground. Don't think i'll waste much time studying over the racecard tonight again with this unlikely weather.

Re: Ayr ~Gold, Silver & bronze Cups (2012 Edition) [h=1]Ayr's Friday card gets go-ahead after inspection[/h] BY JAMES PUGH6:41AM 21 SEP 2012 RACING at Ayr will take place as planned on Friday after the track passed an early morning inspection. The first day of Ayr prestigious Western Meeting was cancelled yesterday after heavy overnight left the course waterlogged. However, the track dried sufficiently to allow acting clerk of the course Harriet Graham to give the thumbs up for Friday's meeting.

Re: Ayr ~Gold, Silver & bronze Cups (2012 Edition)

Sunny today with not a cloud in the sky but its a touch cold' date=' the ground at Ayr has to be very soft with all that rain we had.[/quote'] Freaking Baltic!!!!! I'll replace yesterday's wolly hat for my sunnies today but I ain't replacing a heavy jumper!!! But yes the ground will most def be very soft with the weather from Monday.

Re: Ayr ~Gold, Silver & bronze Cups (2012 Edition) I wasnt going to touch these races due to the ground but I couldnt help thinking there could be a lot of over priced horses lurking! Im not going to go into much detail, because all of my selections for the races are picked around the same factors. I was looking for horses that I think will relish the ground conditions (or at least handle them effectively), have run well at the distance & class and look potentially well handicapped (on the ground). Bronze Cup Jack Dexter 9/2 Various (not exactly a good price but stands out on my figures) Tip Top Gorgeous 25/1 Various (40's+ on BF) Silver Cup Klynch 28/1 Stan James Spinatrix 14/1 Stan James An Saighdiur 9/1 Stan James Gold Cup Maarek 12/1 Ladbrokes Doc Hay 16/1 BetVictor The Cheka 18/1 William Hill

Re: Ayr ~Gold, Silver & bronze Cups (2012 Edition) Bronze Cup. WIN COOLMINX 16/1 B0YLESPORT~I think the Fahey yard is another to look closely at in these 3 big sprints today. This horse will go in the ground won this last year 2lb less now and 7lb claimer on forget run lto that was on Gf going. Real big chance of back to back wins, front runner who will be hard to pass. WIN AMENDABLE 30 0N BF~Had to know what Nicholls horse to be on a small tentative win bet on this one for me. Winner last time out on soft still on a ok mark. E/W ARGINAL 50/1 Will Hill 1/4 1-5 BOG.~Hot & cold sort of horse if he's on his A game has a decent enough e/w chance looks overpriced at 50's to me on a decent mark and another trainer that knows how to win these races. Silver Cup WIN VALERY BORZOV 16/1 Ladbrokes~Will love the ground, good mark with 7lb claimer on getting on in year but plenty in its favour today worth a small win bet. E/W GATEPOST 40/1 PP 1/4 1-4~Yet another Fahey runner for me. Imo we haven't seen te best of this horse yet and i think ground will suit it. Ok mark big price & has a rich owner who likes to be in the limelight. E/W THUNDERBALL WIN 70 PLACE?? ON BF~ Much to big a price on Betfair. Had a scocker run lto but has had 2 wins this year and will go on the ground. Gold cup~The Big One WIN PEARL ICE 20/1 B0YLESPORTS~ Trained by The Barron (as Jimmy2shoes would say) another good trainer in these races and a few quid knocking about for it, this horse hasn't had much racing has fair form at a good level could be anything worth a small win bet at the price. WIN BRAE HILL 50 ON BF~Will pop up at some stage. 6f may not be ideal but ran really well on heavy over 7f at Newcastle in July and is worth a small win bet at 50 on betfair. E/W BOASTFUL 25/1 BET 365~ Trainer & jock combing well and are in form. Got very close to Maarek (who is a good one) at the Curragh last year on heavy. See Ladbrokes have this horse at 28/1 this morning which is massive i thought there would be a lot of money around for this horse who is my main bet in this race has a top e/w chance imo, E/W BEACON LODGE WIN 120 PLACE?? BF~Very big price for a horse that has a bit of class when at best will go on the ground more suited to 7f but heavy 6 should be fine well worth a bet at over 100 on BF imo,.

Re: Ayr ~Gold, Silver & bronze Cups (2012 Edition) 3.30 Ayr - 1pt win Captain Ramius @ 18/1 (Bet365) One horse who will definitely have no issue with today's testing conditions is Kevin Ryan's 100-rated gelding who is very much at home on soft ground. He remains 5lbs higher than for his last win which was a comfortable success at Newmarket last year but recent efforts have suggested he isn't far away from striking once more and he goes especially well at this time of year with all six career successes coming in the late summer and early Autumn. Having returned from Meydan this year he was first on his side of the track over 7f at Newmarket on heavy ground by 3l in a nice race - that was a fine effort after a six-month absence and I think the drop down to 6 on quicker ground at Ripon wasn't ideal last time. I think he needs the ground to be on the softer side to be competitive over this trip in big events but he still ran a good race. This track on this ground will help and the fact he stays further is advantageous. He's in good form and has a top jockey in Pat Smullen on board. He should run another good race and fingers crossed the conditions will bring out victory in him.
